After reviewing the fitness related gifs I sense a controversy on whether she ought to be featured on a Monday versus a Friday.
Could be broader in the beam, but nice upholstery.
There’s two big reasons why I’d stick with Friday …
How stupid can we be? Two major hospital chains near me currently are using PAPER CHARTING because their computer system has been hacked in some way. Talked to E last night and he said it was 100% china. That’s what he does all day. Russia nor Norks have the capability. The one system had to close its EM and cancelled all elective surgery. THey’re invading us every which way.

Adapting to the electronic records took years with a lot of grumbling along the way but once it was in place a lot of stuff was better. Not everything but most of it. I’ve only had to deal with temporary outages (hours or a couple few days) which was painful. After I left the hospital there was a hack that took them out for over a week. They really downplayed it to the media. My xray buddy said it was awful.
They’re on day three and they say it will be next week. My friend says it is HORRIBLE. DO NOT GO TO THE hospitals affected, unless you hate the person.

You can count on it being labeled “dog dewormer”
I can already see the CDC campaign, “You’re not a dog. Stop it!”

I’ll see what I can do.
Carin, there are a number of hacker groups out there (Advanced Persistent Threats or APTs) that are all-but-officially-backed by various governments whose whole job is basically piracy and data theft with the government in question getting priority bid on whatever they can bring in. China has multiple such teams, so do Russia, Ukraine, North Korea, Israel, etc. I’m sure we have them, but I know little about them (and couldn’t tell you if I did) because they aren’t “threats”.
oh, he’s the ivermectin for cancer guy! I knew he sounded familiar.

They should play this on loop in Chris Cuomo’s prison cell
Ooooof of all Ooooofs
There needs to be a Nuremberg II to put people like Cuomo on the gallows.
In addition to Georgia, now Wisconsin
I’m having a huge WTF moment.
So, I’m reading “highly recommended” book – Kristin Hannah’s “The Women” and so far not only is the story line (so far) pretty predictable, but the “historical fiction” aspect of it has me shaking my head. Do people really not know what happened in rather recent history? It hits literally every Vietnam era bullet point out there as if I’m getting new information.
DO PEOPLE REALLY NOT KNOW ANY OF THIS STUFF?
I knew the subject matter- I guess I thought it was just going to be a bit deeper. A lot of people – people I know – have raved about this book.
Halfway through and one of the most predictable things just happened and I’m about to DNF it.
Brazilian Boobs Friday. And I’m here for it!!
Muy Boobo, Pupster!
more long covid than vaccine reactions?
And the flu disappeared that year. Uh huh.
Every time I talk to college students i am amazed at what they don’t know.
Did you think Common Core was just about destroying numeracy and arithmetic?
They by and large know nothing at all about history aside from chattel slavery in the early US and how women invented everything.
Want real fun? Ask them where the word “slave” comes from after asking if whites have ever been slaves.
2.0 out of 5 stars Trite and predictableReviewed in the United States on March 18, 2024
The only redeeming thing about this book is that it shines a light on the role of women in Vietnam and their important but relatively unheralded contributions. However, this book, in my opinion, is not well-written. The writing is juvenile and the plot is wholly predictable. It is reads like a screenplay for a soap opera, complete with a female jilted by a duplicitous male soldier which really has nothing to do with the main story line. I feel the most appropriate audience for this book is a high school student who wants to learn about the Vietnam war and the concurrent elements of popular culture of the 1960s
It’s going to be a movie
You’ll have bragging rights because you’ve read the book. That is, if you’re willing to admit it!
I can’t hear Dan Bongino but I’m okay with that because it’s because Ben is mowing the lawn for me.
There’s something to that, narrative as a history teacher. I learned more about CW1 from John Jakes’s Love and War than I did from my history class, but Jakes was a history buff who was very serious about getting his details right.
Best movie I’ve seen about the roles of women in the Vietnam era is “We Were Soldiers”.
Yea, can’t disagree with the review. It just completely lacks depth and things are predicable or well traveled (light) social commentary.
This too:
“I had great hopes for Hannah’s “The Women”. Instead, I felt like I had fallen victim to one of this year’s “hot book” sales pitches. I just wish it had been a better book with more nuanced characters and greater depth.
“The Women” tells the story of Frances (“Frankie” McGrath), a young woman who comes of age serving as an Army nurse during the Vietnam War. Frankie goes from being a sheltered girl growing up in Coronado, California, through her experiences as a combat nurse in Vietnam, to the aftermath of the war, in which she fares less well than the nurses who became her best friends during and after the end of the war.
Other reviewers describe the storyline of the book in more detail than I will in this review. Hannah is an accomplished author and this is a book and a story targeting a mass audience. OK, I get it. She writes popular fiction well. Nevertheless, the accolades this book has been receiving are over the top. I found the protagonist underwhelming and her story undercut by a lack of subtlety and detail.”
Yea, but I can pull the “I READ THE BOOK” already line, which makes me superior. Of course, I didn’t do it with the “Where the crawdad’s sing” because I thought that book was overhyped as well. I always worried someone would want to talk about the book.
The home front scenes in “We Were Soldiers” were heartbreaking
“We were soldiers” is movie only. No book.
I’m a READER now people. That’s my life. I don’t have a DVD player and apparently the movies I want to see don’t stream. I’m left with books. Like the Amish.

Same story? It has a different title.
Galloway was the reporter in the film who learned some shit during the battle
Yes
same story, yes
The movie title was originally supposed to be the same, but they shortened it.
Mel doesn’t steal no book.
If anyone wants to learn about Vietnam era soldiers, read WEB Griffin books. Dad loved them. I like em too.
Gen (then Col) Harold Moore = Mel Gibson
Medal of Honor to Snakeshit’s team member.
Home Front scenes:
They reminded me of my mom. Dad was in Vietnam for my birth and my youngest brother. They traded tapes, reel to reel, to talk to each other.
Mom lived in the south too, and the racism was exactly as outlined. The army was integrated, though. It was town that was the issue. She said it broke her heart when black women and their children would walk in the gutter when she was in town. Real racism, courtesy of democrats, not the fake stuff they complain about.
I grew up reading books about the Vietnam War. The war was closer in time to the 70’s and 80’s and the realization that we, as a nation, had disrespected the soldiers wasn’t as obvious as it is now.
the stories of telegrams to notify of death? absolutely true. They were horribly unprepared for that, and they have gotten so much better about it (Taking Chance, HBO movie, recommend).
Ironic, because death notifications was my grandpa’s job in WW2, and why he was in Europe. He did so many of them, it explains why he was a reserved guy, and kinda grouchy.
Oh dear lord, they are letting us use “AI” with a whole bunch of rules and caveats that are sure to be broken within the first few days.
Our only hope is for tonight’s big CME, folks.
Carin, the book version is $2.99 on kindle if you want a real book about Vietnam
Why are y’all commenting in Spanish/Spanglish instead of Portuguese?

Really? I can’t believe Babepedia lied to me. They are usually quite accurate.
Best Line from We were Soldiers , Imgur video with sound.
Brasil not Brazil. They get touchy about being lumped in with Spainiards 🤷🏼♀️
Holy shit, the whole video is good.
One or the other is a lie, either the 118 pounds or the 5’8″.
Maybe 118 pounds at 4’8″, or 158 pounds at 5’8″.
On another off the wall topic. Does anyone other than me hate ear worms?
There’s this guy named Rick Springfield. He was a soap opera star back in the ’80’s. He also fancied himself as a musician.
He’s being advertised as having a concert in Fort Wayne. Why this guy after you managed to get ZZ Top?
Anywho, back in the day, I hated his “music”, now that the ads are being blasted on local TV I have this terrible earworm, “Jessies Girl”. Thank God about the time that song came out I saw “The Tubes”, and I can over play the earworm with “Talk To You Later”, for as long as that lasts.
I could use a little help from the music blogger with some earworm killer, any help will be appreciated.
^ Never could understand why females, the real ones, not the ones that identify, are so vane about their physical proportions.
Until I hit my 5th decade I’ve typically checked in at 5’10” and 140 pounds. Now that I’m in my 6th decade I’m tracking at 5’9″ and 170 pounds.
But I still have a 12″ tongue and can breathe through my ears.
Holy shit, the whole video is good.
They already won, 4 years ago. No one will notice you’re victory lap because society as a whole is more mentally decrepit than the fossil they installed in the Whitehouse.
Pretty sure some of those Brazilian athletes should be featured on MMM, Leon.
We at the MMM research outpost are heavily invested in South and Central America. For reasons.
And today’s gal is likely 5’8″, but she’s at least 140 lb.

We apparently had a G4 event not that long ago and it was a nothingburger. CME is like SMOD, always promising, never actually delivering.
This is from a newsletter link to some WSJ articles covering the war in Ukraine:
“Meanwhile, Russia launched attacks on a new front against Ukrainian forces already struggling to hold the line as they await U.S. aid.”
Is their struggle to hold the line really only because they’re waiting for US aid? I’m guessing they’d still be struggling even if they had the aid already.
Mud season just ended there (same as here, I think MI has basically the same latitude/climate as Uke). Ukraine could fall at roughly the same time as the media trots out this year’s George Floyd.
between my homeowners insurance and taxes my house payment has doubled on a 30 year fixed rate @2.7%. I cannot affort to live in Florida much longer. I would prefer Tennesse, but West Va is a lot less expensive. Are the Ozarks or Romy Al any better? Wyoming maybe?
Indiana’s pretty cheap to live in still. Real winters though, even at the southern tip.

For those not familiar with the black music scene, Afroman is the original artist, parodying his own song.
How lucky for Roamy. Her governor just signed “Ranked Choice Voting” into law.
Fookin’ clown…
Or, maybe not. That’s what I get for listening to morons…
They are not so named ironically.
Well, not entirely ironically, anyhow.
ChrisP, ranked voting was just specifically banned by Gov. Ivey. Goes into effect later this year.
