MMM 333: Summer wanes

It’s still pretty darned hot here, but the nights are getting cooler.  Make the most of what remains if you’re due for snow in a few months.

She looks good in snow.

MMM 332: dismantled apple tree

About 2/3rds of it is onto the burn pile already, with some of the leafy bits still on a tarp in the front yard waiting to be hauled out back.  Couldn’t put a ton of time into it yesterday without getting pretty wiped out, I cut it down and then hauled for about 2 hours total.  90+ degrees both days I worked on it, and I managed to sunburn my back when I was hauling.

Ugh, the Smith machine.

MMM 330: Nobody died

We did a full 48 hours without mom this weekend, and it went as well as could be expected.  I was exhausted afterward and just barely made it out of bed this morning, though.  Should be a fun week on the job.

It took 45 minutes to get her hair to look right.  Just speculating.

MMM 330

July rolls on with intermittent heat and thunderstorms.  I just got locked out of my electricity website and now I have to call someone, so that’s exciting.

Bad Week to be a Leftie

Man, it sure has sucked to be a leftie this last week or so. Outdone by Donny Two Scoops, the single biggest idiot ever to populate the White House (their words).

MMM 327

Had to clean up my cat’s pet ants this morning, so now I’m itchy and I feel them crawling all over me.

Volleyball?

MMM 326: heat wave

It was 95F here yesterday, so instead of yard work I cleared some of the rubble pile in the basement of the shop.  I can only do so much at once because it appears to be a lot of soil, and that’s quite heavy in my trash bin.  Would that it were only soil, because then I could just put it out in the yard somewhere, but there’s insulation, bits of metal, and even some broken glass in it.  I still have no idea how it got there.  Best I can figure is that it’s mostly potting soil from when this place was a gladiola farm; maybe they were starting seeds or storing pots and potting soil down there.

She’s got cable.

MMM 325: holy crap it’s June

Summer is almost here!  To do this Summer:

  1. Upgrade support beam on east-facing pole-barn door
  2. Build stalls in pole barn
  3. Add gutters to workshop and block shed
  4. Add sump pump and dehumidifier to workshop basement
  5. Build chicken coop

And if I get all that done, before it snows, I’ll call it a huge win.

Light and shadow.

MMM 321: the perimeter

If I walk the edges of the giant rectangle that is my new yard — even cutting the corners to avoid brambles and lightly wooded areas, it’s a little over a half mile around.  That means if I wake up, go out and do chores, then walk the edges to check on things, I’ve got a half mile walk, and I didn’t even have to leave home to do it.  Do that 2-3 more times a day, and you’re starting to talk about a decent amount of exercise, plus the security of looking at all of that throughout the day, keeping an eye on potential problems or developments.  Going to try and make that part of the new routine.

Cobra pose.
