Good morning (I know, different photo of the same woman of a couple weeks ago, but I think she’s pretty), and welcome to today’s edition of Hunky Hump Day.
Birthday boy Julian Ovenden.
Another Julian.
Scowly.
A little hairy.
Real redhead for Carin.
Last, but not least.
And that will have to do.
Thanks to Pirate’s Cove for the links every week. Y’all have a good day.

I had a thought about the Becerra tweet.
There’s no bots cheering him on. There’s no bots saying “I got my booster to save my family, blah, blah, blah.” It’s all “hell, no”, “fat lot of good that will do”, “you’re full of shit”, “no way, Jose”, “and a side of myocarditis to go, please”.
That is amazing, so thank you, Elon Musk.
Same observation, Roamy. I kept scrolling and scrolling and couldn’t find any A-hole standing and defending the poor victim government from the wicked and oppressive citizens. Amazing.
Can’t sleep and only got 4 or 5 hours sleep. I have a problem ‘customer.’ We have been communicating by email, but then this dude also calls me from Europe just to bitch and take jabs at me. Then he also complains about how much its costing him to call me. Next time he does that I’m going to ask him if maybe he can find someone more local to verbally abuse. It’s like I’m working in psych again.
He obsesses about pointless minutiae and makes subtle accusations. It shouldn’t bother me but when people accuse me of unethical behavior it sticks in my craw.
When someone sends an initial contact email with the title URGENT, I should have known this was going to be a high strung drama queen.
Whatever. I know when he receives his shipment it won’t be the end of it. He’s still going to have some kind of problem. He’s enjoying picking at me too much.
Besides that guy, it’s also been a crappy busy post-holiday whirlwind last two days. But I had everything pretty well put to bed when I left work yesterday except for a couple contacts and details to hammer out.
With the crappy sleep, I’ll be dragged out by noon today. Think I’ll work a half day at the shop and then come home and either work on the website or lie down.

Curious as to Sobek’s thoughts on this. I belong to a prepper blog that is majority LDS, and the place has blown up on the discussion of vax mandates coming from the LDS leaders. Apparently the jab is still required for missionaries going overseas (might be a requirement for that country?), and there are a lot of parents concerned about myocarditis, etc. Can you request a domestic mission or do you go where they tell you to?
Also, I did not expect the LDS church to support same-sex marriage, ever (they support the Senate bill).

-gastrointestinal — diarrhea, abdominal pain
-neurologic — anxiety, blurred vision, depression, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, headache

How many people in the US gen population would complain about these things?
Nah, just wishing that the questionable stuff was more mundane. He might be, he might not, but even that would be understandable and not without precedent. His job is to teach the faith with clarity, orthodoxy, and precision. To ensure that the teachings of the Church are effectively promulgated. Somehow, he instead excels in ambiguity and frequently opines on matters where his authority and education are weak at best, woefully wrongheaded at worst.
I pray for him. When I pray for his intentions I always caveat it with “insofar as they are your intentions, my Lord”.

I thought it was pretty well known that the Chinese government (in a particular province) was welding in covid + citizens (slaves) into their apartment buildings. There was a horrible fire and people were screaming to get out.
I’ve seen the video. I can’t verify it or anything but that was to have sparked the protests.
Re: the supposed Javelin at Venezuela/Columbia border…
There’s a pic of an NLAW (which is kinda almost sorta a guided missile, but not really), an AT-4, which is a one-shot, disposable rocket launcher, and finally, one Javelin.
There’s no visible markings on any of the tubes. And the background is clearly a piece of paper.
CHina is now blurring the crowds at the World Cup, to hide the fact that they’re maskless. Someone tell this to that chick up there I linked earlier:
“For one, it’s an important reminder why we don’t ever want the government to have control over the media and social media. Once it has such control, it can and will abuse it to try to shape the very reality citizens are allowed to experience—to keep them compliant and submissive.”
So I’ll start with the easy part: we don’t have a doctrine of infallibility. The title page of the Book of Mormon says “…And now, if there are faults they are the mistakes of men; wherefore, condemn not the things of God…” And Nephi, the first prophet/author in the Book of Mormon, wrote, “And now, if I do err, even did they err of old; not that I would excuse myself because of other men, but because of the weakness which is in me, according to the flesh, I would excuse myself” (1 Ne. 19:6). More recently, in 2013 an apostle named Dieter F. Uchtdorf said “to be perfectly frank, there have been times when when members or leaders in the Church have simply made mistakes. There may have been things said or done that were not in harmony with our values, principles, or doctrine. I suppose the Church would be perfect only if it were run by perfect beings.” And then our eighth article of faith includes, “we believe the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly.”
So if Church leaders can make mistakes about more spiritually significant things, it can certainly make mistakes about epidemiology. (more to come)
I don’t know if there’s a general vax mandate for missionaries. My son just finished up his training at the Missionary Training Center and leaves today for a mission in Pennsylvania, so the overseas thing was never a question, but he was already vaxxed. Mrs. S is pro-vax, and got all our kids the shots (before all the negative effects were hitting the news) so they could go to school, so he didn’t have to get a shot specifically for the mission.
When we put in our mission papers, we don’t choose where we go. It’s different for senior missionaries, who have the option of picking s specific place or saying “wherever I’m needed.”
Technically, if the Pope teaches heresy he ceases to be Pope in that moment, so ‘infallibility’ has something of an escape clause even so. Who determines it was heresy? Good question!*
Especially since BXVI yet lives and there are… questions… about his retirement.
*if you know the answer, please share with the class
I hadn’t heard anything about the Church supporting the same-sex marriage bill. That makes me wonder what the bill actually says. I’ve heard over the years that the Church is worried about the feds coming after us again if we won’t agree to same-sex marriage in our temples (the feds persecuted us pretty badly in the 1800s and we have a long memory), so I wonder if there’s some kind of compromise happening – we’ll support the bill, but you don’t get to tell us what to do in our temples.
supposed Javelin at Venezuela/Columbia border…
——-
The fact that the location is so far away from Ukraine did cross my mind as I read it. As for the type of shootie it is, you are far more expert in arms recognition than I am.
There has been a lack of accountability with the arms we have transferred to Ukraine and I do think a percentage have slipped out of the net. Where they’ll end up is anyone’s guess.
“Who determines it was heresy? Good question!* … *if you know the answer, please share with the class”
Simple. God does.
And now to elaborate on that answer. If, at the end if this life, a good and faithful Catholic stands before God, knowing he or she followed the teachings of the Church as best as possible, and realizes he or she mistakenly believed something in reliance on a Church teaching that turned out to be an error, God will not punch that soul for being wrong, and especially not for following a Church teaching in good faith. It will be more of a “you were wrong about this, but I understand” kind of moment.
I think the bill just says the government says gay marriage is a-ok. The church suits will come later, when the govt goes after churches for not performing gay marriages. Like the CO baker getting hit multiple times. Give the left time, and they’ll wield it like a club.
One of my favorite Proverbs is 14:4 – “where no oxen are, the crib is clean: but much increase is by the strength of the ox” (KJV).
The Church is a great barn. If you fill it with oxen, you will soon find that oxen are very messy. You will have poop everywhere, filthy straw trampled down, sometimes animals that injure each other, or spread disease. The only remedy to that is to not have any oxen at all in your barn. In other words, the Church could be completely flawless, if it didn’t have any members.
Yet despite all the messiness of life, look at all the blessings that come from that mess! God manages to bring about “much increase” despite our flaws.
“I think the bill just says the government says gay marriage is a-ok.”
If that’s literally all it says, then it’s completely meaningless. A state could say “fine with us, but we don’t recognize gay marriages here,” and then nothing happens.
If the bill says something closer to “states must recognize gay marriages,” then I wonder which clause of the Constitution could possibly be used to justif… okay, I’m just screwing with you, no kne cares what the Constitution says. The real question is the “so what” clause in the bill, which would spell out penalties for non-compliance.
Ugh. Found out two people were killed in this area when a tornado hit at 3am this morning. Mother and child. Father in the hospital.
I mean…imagine that guy…went to bed last night with a home and family…waking up in the hospital, someone telling them how so very, very sorry they are…
I hate early morning storms. You can’t see them coming. If you even wake up before they hit it’s usually too late.
I only say that is the bill because of the coverage for it. No one has voiced an explicit threat to churches yet, just the door left open for lawsuits. That’s the Deace position.
I haven’t read it, so take my opinion as such. Just like normal.
Oh, almost certainly. The pew-sitting-and-kneeling follower who submitted to teaching and did their best to conform conscience to the Church and behave accordingly will be held blameless. What I meant was we don’t exactly have Canon Law that says what authority gets to tell the pope he dun goofed so hard he ain’t pope no more. Closest analogue is the Avignon papacy and the antipopes that have reigned historically. The average layperson can only do their best to live the faith, and can’t be 100% certain that their pope is the ‘real’ pope at times. They shouldn’t be given cause to doubt, or anything ambiguous, but yet we have oddities like Amoris Laetitia. This was much, much less of an issue when “The Pope” was just an old guy in Rome who sent maybe one letter a year to your bishop in St Louis, MO, but he’s a global celebrity and an adoring (and not so adoring) press hangs on his every word and every rumored word that he might have uttered on flight to Uzbekistan. The poor guy in the pew just trying to pay his tithes, go to Confession, and keep his kids alive and faithful isn’t on the hook for that.
But God help the cleric who leads the sheep astray.
I read the syllabus just now. It amends the federal code to change anything that defines marriage as between a man and a woman. It also repeals and replaces any federal laws that do not require full faith and credit to be applied to marriages performed in other states.
It also creates civil actions by the DoJ or individuals for violations.
“I believe that 99.9999% of the time people intuitively know when they are being led astray.”
Sure, that’s why people need their own connection to the Spirit, and access to personal revelation. It’s why Leon is so right to say “God help the cleric who leads the sheep astray.” Because that cleric isn’t just getting someone to believe the wrong thing. He’s convincing the believer that what the believer feels in his heart, through the Spirit, is wrong.
If you follow what you know is error, like going to Communion knowingly in a state of mortal sin, yeah. Nancy P has been corrected by her bishop, even. She’s eating judgement and committing sacrilege every time. Biden knows better too, even if his bishop has failed to correct him.

When I bought the entertainment system for my new condo in 2000, they played the Rumours album in the listening room to demonstrate the speakers, etc.
I wasn’t really a fan of the group before that, but I learned to love that album.
Other music included in the demo consisted of Wagner’s Ring by the Berlin Phil. and the soundtrack from Last of the Mohicans by the Scottish Natl. Orch. Those two CDs I took with me, but they insisted that I listen to Fleetwood.
Good times.
(To demonstrate the surround sound system they showed the bank lobby scene in The Matrix.)
Geez. Remind me I’m in my 50s without telling me I’m in my 50s. Most of my favorite music was cut before I could drive and most of the people who recorded it are either dead or soon will be.
RIP Christine. I liked Fleetwood Mac. That Rumours album was an odd one – all those songs about the break-ups in the band and they had to record them together and then go out and perform them night after night. Her song “You Make Loving Fun” was about her affair with the lighting guy.
Weird to think she’s about Mom’s age. I’ve always had my parents in one time-period and all the 60’s rock band people in another, but no.
First song i heard on CD was ZZ Top, gimme all your lovin. The stereo store was downstairs from a bar, and we were listening to Klipsch speakers. The bar came down and told us to turn it down.
This is like when I had to tell people that Christina Ricci in Wednesday is playing the character at 42. Which is, iirc, 11 years older than the actress who played Morticia in The Addams Family when it first aired.
We weren’t allowed to use my dads stereo sound system. My moms cousin stayed with us in TX. Rumours at eleventy every morning. My dad was one of those Navy guys with the expensive Japanese sound systems.
One of my HS friends who hung out with our clique of former Boy Scouts (where most of us met) was a serious audiophile. He enlisted in the Air Force and spent his money almost entirely on upgrading his stereo equipment. When I was a freshman in college he was home on leave and I asked him to help me pick out a stereo system. I dropped close to 2 grand in 1982 money and got a great system that lasted almost 20 years. I had to add a CD player at some point.
At some point I blew out one of my speakers when I was hosting a party. It still sounded okay at lower volumes but it was never the same. We have squat for a stereo now. My ex wife had the Geek Squad put a pretty basic multi speaker system in for the TV but that was a couple of TV’s ago and the dogs ate the cords to the speakers which are nonfunctional. Not that it matters, I haven’t turned it on in months.
I think if I got a high end system now it would last long enough to be passed on to Ben after I kick the bucket.
LONGER THAN THERE’VE BEEN FISHES IN THE OCEAN

I just got into a fight with Dan about my bullshit. My abuser is dead. I didn’t kill him. It doesn’t mean it’s over. For the most part, Dan is a good guy. He just doesn’t understand the rage.
Came close to blowing out the speakers in my sister-in-law’s Jeep with Gordon Lightfoot. It started with Mr. RFH saying, “Good song, turn it up.” I believe it was “Sundown”. Next song, I said, “Good song, turn it up” and so on until the speakers were buzzing and we could have qualified for a nuisance ticket.
Don’t know but I almost feel I should get in the line, in memory of my co-worker who was a Vietnam vet. He loathed Jane Fonda with every fiber of his being.
” My abuser is dead. I didn’t kill him. It doesn’t mean it’s over.”
Oso, please accept this big, squishy hug from someone who doesn’t know, but I do see, and I care very much. I had a talk victim’s mom today, I’ve known it was coming since Monday afternoon, it was tearing me up inside the past few days. So glad it’s done. So sad for the victim. I hate feeling powerless to help, when helping is supposed to be my job.
My first major purchase after I began getting post-collegiate paychecks are as a marantz system w turn table and cassette in addition to amp and equalizer. And like most of y’all I blew the speakers out. Van Halen’s Right Here, Right Now.
I saw Fleetwood Mac about four years ago at the Erwin Center in Austin. You couldn’t have hit the stage with a rock from the seat I was in but I thought Ms. McVie still looked pretty damned good. I’d go so far as to say she looked sexy. Ditto for Ms. Nicks.

someone put the magic smoke back in the system here, all of a sudden we have internet. wonder how long this will last
Speak of the devil…

As for me, the Pope is only infallible in speaking ex cathedra on matters of faith, so I felt free to ignore him on matters of healthcare.
He’s even less qualified on government, but just can’t stop… pontificating. Why can’t he just have a few mistresses or something? This other crap is so much harder to put up with.
or something?
You wouldn’t be insinuating that Francis is light in the loafers, now would you?
This study – I find this interesting:
“These were grouped as:
– respiratory viral symptoms — cough, fatigue, shortness of breath, fever or chills, muscle/body aches, nausea
-gastrointestinal — diarrhea, abdominal pain
-neurologic — anxiety, blurred vision, depression, memory problems, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, headache
-anosmia/dysgeusia — loss of taste, loss of smell
Out of these patients, 37% reported experiencing at least three or more symptoms of long COVID, and 24% said they experienced one or two symptoms.”
*****
huh at least three symptons: Fatigue, depression, difficulty concentrating, difficulty sleeping.
How many people in the US gen population would complain about these things?
So yea, New made up “I’m sick” dealo.
Here’s a story to give you chills …

instead of long covid, maybe it’s gender. cut their dick or tits off, see it that helps.
It will help the gene pool, that’s for sure.
censorship is never the answer. Yes, even communists and Nazis need free speech. That way we can find them, point, and laugh.
Why not both?
It’s really gross out. Cold, VErY overcast and super windy. Trifecta of miserable.

I thought it was pretty well known that the Chinese government (in a particular province) was welding in covid + citizens (slaves) into their apartment buildings. There was a horrible fire and people were screaming to get out.
I’ve seen the video. I can’t verify it or anything but that was to have sparked the protests.
Ressa is a dumb tool. She needs to get the eff out of America. Also, STFU, Ressa. No one needs your bullshit.

I first heard the fire prompted the protests and later heard the mask free fans at the World Cup games as a cause.
I think the ChiComs are pushing the limits with their normally docile population with their Zero Covid BS

Be a real shame if some FoxConn factories that make iPhones burnt down. Big effin’ shame about those iPhones, Mr Apple.

If you’ve got leaf springs, you can have one of these.
Anybody that gives Stephen Colbert or the waste-oids that comprise his audience more that a moment’s thought is a fucking retard.
“Curious as to Sobek’s thoughts on this.”
If you even wake up before they hit it’s usually too late.
sad news, brotim.
I believe that 99.9999% of the time people intuitively know when they are being led astray.
If you follow this pope you are going to answer for it.
LOL
Quite the list you’ve got going there, Mr. Nolte.
Christine McVie dies at 79
Had to look up who that is. I had no idea she would be that much older than I am.
even if his bishop has failed to correct him.
So he can pal around with Biden in Hell too, then.
Sorry. For anyone else, Christine McVie is a member of Fleetwood Mac, a rock band.
I’m in FB jail for posting about the Druze kidnap situation. Actually, it was the hope that Hamas didn’t return the body.
Shit. Christine McVie was my favorite member of Fleetwood Mac, and a major crush of mine.
Josh Hawley doesn’t fuck around.
I hope he doesn’t turn out to be Trey Gowdy 2.0,
When I bought the entertainment system for my new condo in 2000, they played the Rumours album in the listening room to demonstrate the speakers, etc.
Billy Idol is 67 today.
As a child of the 80s, I’m not okay with that.
I hate that Clinton co-opted the song Don’t Stop from Rumours.

Now they can admit it. Glad this idiot is gone.
Bill Clinton got covid. Guess what he’s grateful for? Thaaaaat’s right.
twitter: link from AOS about Harmeet Dhillon being an agent to crash the GOP, sinking Kari Lake from the inside
Not sure what to think, but all the pieces fall into place. She seemed really good, but so did Lake’s campaign.
Paranoia will destroy ya…
Of course they really are out to get us, so.
My system stands up to this day.
Arcam AVR 100 5.1 receiver / amplifier
Vienna Acoustics Bach front speakers
Vienna Acoustics Heydn center and surround speakers
REL Q200E subwoofer
I think it set me back about $4,000 in 2000, but it has given me 22 years of enjoyment, and no reason to replace any of it.
Plus I was single then, and didn’t have to justify the expense of any of it.
Bill Clinton got covid. Guess what he’s grateful for?
That it isn’t syphillis?
Huge favor. Can someone let FB know I’m in jail? Thanks in advance.

Gomez: (gazing down at Pubert) He has my mother’s eyes.
Morticia: Gomez, take those out of his mouth.
At some point I blew out one of my speakers when I was hosting a party.
Bet it was on a Dan Fogelberg tune. You’re an animal.
LONGER THAN THERE’VE BEEN FISHES IN THE OCEAN
HIGHER THAN ANY BIRD EVER FLEW
LONGER THAN THERE’VE BEEN STARS UP IN THE HEAVENS
I’VE BEEN IN LOOOOVE WITH YOUUUUU!!! *thrashing*
TURN IT UP! TURN IT UP!
Seriously though, when I was like 10 y/o I loved that song.
I love you guys.
Hotspur, The biggest deal about my dad and his Navy sound system, was it was usually single guys that had the Navy Sound going on.
Might have been Sweet Caroline
Oso – I just got out of jail. Pretty sure troll Carrie or one of her minions did it.
Thank you, Car in.

It gets really old. My new Twitter account loves the Elon.
I just got into a fight with Dan about my bullshit. My abuser is dead. I didn’t kill him. It doesn’t mean it’s over. For the most part, Dan is a good guy. He just doesn’t understand the rage.
Not sure anyone could.
ONT says Al Roker might be about to die of Suddenly.
Jane Fonda is supposedly checking out soon, too.
Where will the pilgrimage pissoir be when she passes? Millions of Americans need to know.
A smart graveyard owner would just have a gravel bed under the casket and a catchment system for all the urea and phosphorus reclamation.
He had some chutzpah.

“He had some chutzpah.”
No kidding. That was cool.
Nicks.
Sound on.
By the way, Pupster, I’m volunteering to do the Saturday meme poat, I have a bunch.
Damon eventually rescued Portia.
You bet Rocket Chick, meme away.
