Welcome to another edition of Hunky Hump Day. Found a new source of HHD fodder, but, wow, some of them need a sammich. First, the song, inspired by the courtin’ song last week.
And now for the hunks.
Fake redhead for Carin.
Nice.
Pretty sure it’s the same guy.
You can pose on a ranch like this.
Or like this.
That will do for today. Calgon, take me away.
Thanks to Pirate’s Cove for the linky love every week, and y’all have a good day.

Loreena McKinnett has 3 sets of repeated letters in her name as well as an excellent voice. I like her stuff but have to be in the mood for it.

Opinions on a Rugar 380 for a running gun. Dogs, etc. Strange people.
Ruger makes quality firearms. I’m more of a 9mm fan but for the purpose of deterrence and leaving any bad dudes with an incriminating hole the .380 is a fine choice.
I’m worried that a 9 mm is too big to run with. But the guy has a point.
9mm used to be much easier to find on the shelf. .380 might be now and for the next little while, but I don’t doubt that in the broader “all ammo in existence sense” .380 is far, far sparser on the ground.
Feminists and lefties are unaware of their level of stupid.
Anyone hungry?
Love Ruger. They have the best customer service of any company I have ever dealt with.
Isn’t that Mr Mare’s daily carry?
Is there a 22 that’s good enough? Or is that just too small? I know they would be lightweight, but not a lot of power.
I have a Taurus .38sp that’s 17 ounces unloaded, if you’re into revolvers.
Scott, yes, when he does carry.
Neither of us have a current Florida carry permit.
Love Ruger. They have the best customer service of any company I have ever dealt with.
Isn’t that Mr Mare’s daily carry?
.22 derringer with pearl handles?
On July 1st, Iowa residents no longer need a permit to open or concealed carry. GOP takeovers of every branch has benefits.
Love Ruger. But to be honest there aren’t any well known gun makers that I don’t like.
I think how it feels in your hand, your ability to use it well, and comfort on the body are important.
I chose not to carry because 1) I currently don’t have a permit and 2) the care and responsibility you must take when carrying.
I hope TeeRoy hops on to give advice on the weapon and such.
I hava a Ruger LCP II in .380, and a EC9S in 9mm. I’ve shot the LCP II a lot. It’s dead nuts. It’s my daily carry. The EC9S is a little bigger, but it’s 9mm, so there’s that.
I drove by the Daniel Defense manufacturing facility a few days ago.
The building was basically glowing red from activity.
Car in, do you shoot at home? are you able to? That’s one of my favorite parts of mom’s place, shooting is open!
Why do you guys all hate on 9mm? With a hollow point bullet it really doesn’t matter.
On July 1st, Iowa residents no longer need a permit to open or concealed carry. GOP takeovers of every branch has benefits.

Governor LePage finally got Constitutional Carry in Maine in 2015. Liberals and other assorted gun grabbers predicted Armageddon with Wild West shootouts in the street. I imagine they did the same in Iowa.
https://triggerreset.net/2019/09/13/maine-passes-constitutional-carry-now-its-the-safest-state-in-the-u-s-from-the-threat-of-crime/
While the cause and effect aspect of this may be a little dubious we are a relatively safe place. That’s why violent crime, when it does occur, is big news around here
you would be correct, jimbro. predictions of all sorts of mayhem.
Did you know that people can just sell guns, without letting the government know?
I’m a 9mm fan myself, mainly due to the ease of cross compatibility between different firearms. Nothing against the others, I’ve got .357 and .38 for my wheel guns and .22 for my Ruger Mk III.
But to be honest there aren’t any well known gun makers that I don’t like.

I don’t hate 9mms. I own three – a Smith & Wesson M&P 9EZ, Ruger EC9S, and a Kimber Micro 9.
I like them all. But if I’m concealing, I prefer my LCP II, or my NAA Pug in 22 mag.
This can’t be good for Michigan and your facist governor

It’s all because Carin’s restaurant reopened.
Deaths and hospitalizations are way, way down, so my bet is that someone’s juicing the ‘case’ numbers, likely by not changing the CT on the PCRs administered in the state. They keep doing bookkeeping chicanery to keep deaths up. WNDU* reports the Michigan death numbers with an asterisk because they keep pulling old death reports and claiming “COVID”.
*once associated with Notre Dame, now just a media network with these call letters, fairly balanced, but largely in the typical Branch Covidian style of reporting, so the asterisk on MI numbers is quite the statement
https://www.wndu.com/
Scroll down to the IN/MI case/death headlines for the contrast. IN and MI aren’t that different in terms of climate and demographics, yet MI has an order of magnitude more cases? Someone’s shoveling horse feathers here, and my bet is the Witches of Lansing.
https://www.scripps.edu/news-and-events/press-room/2021/20210203-hiv-vaccine.html
You people…
Hospitalizations are not way down, but ICU hospitalizations are (or close to where they’ve been.) Doctors are admitting and releasing w/in 24 hours. Per my Nurse friend who works covid.
You realize we’re going to make the HIV vaccine mandatory. Anything else would be homophobic. Now we need a catchy commercial name for the vaccine …
LOL
MJ, give him your bag of dicks.
we are still testing, 21% positive. in 24 days there has been 51678 tested, 10k positive. 169 deaths with Covid in those 24 days
As a next step, IAVI and Scripps Research are partnering with the biotechnology company Moderna to develop and test an mRNA-based vaccine that harnesses the approach to produce the same beneficial immune cells. Using mRNA technology could significantly accelerate the pace of HIV vaccine development.
You don’t say… Huh, another “vaccine”. Tell me again how the scamdemic wasn’t just a plot to make $$$$, get rid of OMB, and destroy freedom worldwide.
Funding from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, through the Collaboration for AIDS Vaccine Discovery, supported a wide network of partners conducting complex analyses.
Huh, you don’t say. Funny how this guy keeps being at the center of these things. The same guy who thinks the world is dangerously overpopulated and dare never set foot in India or several African countries because his “vaccines” sterilized people there in early trials.
This comment is for Oso and Pepe if they show up later.
My younger brother is vp of a wholesale food service distributor that markets and distributes groceries and restaurant supplies from Arizona to Georgia. They work north into Colorado Kansas Missouri Kentucky and Tennessee but all there distribution warehouses are south of there. Their furthest west branch is in Albuquerque and He paid them the first onsite visit that he’s made to any of the branches in 13 months yesterday. Following is bits and parts of what he texted me and our other two siblings last night. I’d be interested in hearing the NM perspective.
His company is headquartered in Fort Worth and he flew to ABQ out of DFW.
On the other side of things, I was a bit shocked when I arrived at the airport and not a single shop or snack bar was open. When I arrived at the hotel I was told face masks are required until I am in my room. The restaurant was about 20% full. I can’t imagine that it felt much different traveling from the free world to behind the iron curtain during the 60s and 70s.
At the office today I found my NM GM working in his office with a mask on. I walked in without one and told him to take that shit off. He stated that the state can shut our doors for two weeks if we are found working without masks. I told him to lick the front door and remove his mask.
It was a bad gut feeling out there with such a liberal crazy bitch governor.
Also…..not much traffic on the highways. Sad and scary.
My older brother is retired and lives in the country 10 miles north of Lubbock. He responded with this.
In Lubbock probably 1 in 5 license plates are nm. Makes me wonder how much commerce from shopping and services has moved and will it move back. Glad I don’t own a business over there.
My note: Lubbock has a population of 300,000 so 1 in 5 cars on the road ain’t chicken feed.
Younger brother’s response:
My ABQ GMs wife drove to Lubbock last week to get her first shot.
My note: Albuquerque to Lubbock is about six hours each way.
Younger brother ‘s final text:
NM will be the very last state to open their economy back up because of their extreme liberal Governor. She doesn’t care. She just wants authority and power. The NM Restaurant Association filed suit on her and the state over shutdowns. The NM Supreme Court ruled in her favor. She’s pissed and dishing out retribution to our industry. She also got recreational cannabis legalized for 4/1/22. She claims a $20 million tax benefit.
Ought to make you Michiganders feel a bit better about your bitch.
This is the page I often refer to for Michigan covid stats. Scroll down to hospitals. You’ll see most have been admitted, but aren’t in ICU (total number includes both – so simply math will tell you how many are just sick with covid but not at a life threatening point).
that’s quite a link.
Royal Oak and Troy’s hospital #s look big, but they are the biggest hospitals in the state. I know that is true for Royal oak.
sorry. I got distracted by something.
https://www.michigan.gov/coronavirus/0,9753,7-406-98159-523641–,00.html
I never heard how bad New Mexico was. I believe it now. Sorry I didn’t buy in earlier, thought it might have just been circumstantial.
My apologies to Oso and pepe
our hospitals are reporting the same thing, car in. less lengthy stays, in and out.
My nurse friend that lots of the patients they were getting were released w/in 24 hours and it was pissing her off.
Hotspur, I’ll give that asshole my bag of dicks!
*grabs crotch and makes a rude gesture*
So, Pence thinks he’s going to run on MAGA but without getting President Trump’s endorsement.
That’s a real sound plan.
*snickers*
Why was she pissed off?
Govt. In NM is completely Dem controlled. They got control and went nuts. The day the governor was sworn in they had a stack of bills the previous governor vetoed, signed them that day. Huge gun control. Big taxes, etc.
I don’t go anywhere, so the shut down didn’t really affect me. Most rural places ignore mask shit.
So, the direct of Mercil was really just more of the Schleiter show we’ve already seen with other state’s witnesses. Kind of checking the boxes, but not even all the boxes needed to support the state’s narrative of guilt—and always by only exposing the jury to half the context, which is a dangerous ploy.
Basing your narrative of guilt on only half the context is a dangerous ploy because we, thank God, enjoy an adversarial legal system, and that means the defense gets to pop right up and expose the jury to the other half of the context, the half consistent with a narrative of innocence—and, in this case, they get to do so with your own witness.
And that’s precisely what happened with Mercil, and in a big, big way.
Sounds like things in the Chauvin trial are not going well for the prosecution, if the defense is using their own witnesses against them. In fact, here’s a note on another:
Even worse, not only did the cross-examination of MacKenzie by the defense also go badly for the prosecution, it went so badly that Nelson informed the court that he intended to re-call MacKenzie as a defense witness when he presented his case in chief.
https://legalinsurrection.com/2021/04/chauvin-trial-day-7-wrap-up-a-horrible-day-for-the-prosecution/
Mare, are you asking about Grisham-Lujan of no? Because the Restaurant Association dares challenge her in court I guess. Plus, she’s a commie, they’re always pissed about something.
No, PD but thanks for answering. I was wondering why Carin’s friend was pissed off…as a nurse…patients leaving in 24 hours.
Visiting my mom in Tucson. Started to load the car to go home this morning to find a flat tire. Changed the tire with the Jack and lug wrench that came with it. No fun at all. Waiting for a tire shop to fix it. At home, it would have taken 5 minutes.
Fuck New Mexico.
The only reason it became a state was to counterbalance adding Arizona. It produces nothing, it’s natural resources consist of rock and cactus, and its residents live in hogans.
Except Pepe and Oso.
Except Pepe and Oso.

Agree but that made me laugh.
It produces nothing, it’s natural resources consist of rock and cactus
Lee and Eddy county would beg to differ. M
https://www.24-7pressrelease.com/press-release/410264/eddy-county-nm-leads-permian-oil-and-gas-production-for-the-third-consecutive-year
If that all sounds bad enough for the prosecution, you ain’t seen nothing yet.
It was at this point that Nelson showed Mercil a series of photographs captured from the body worn camera of Officer Lane, and showing Chauvin’s knee on Floyd from the angle down Floyd’s proned body.
Photo 1: Where’s Chauvin’s leg in this image? On Floyd’s neck? Or on his shoulder blades and back. Mercil: Shoulder blades and back.
And in photo 2? Same. Photo 3? Same. Photo 4? Same.
This, of course, fundamentally undercuts the prosecution’s narrative of guilt that it was Chauvin’s knee on Floyd’s neck that killed Floyd.
Brutal.
Eff Michigan except for Hotspur, Leon, and Carin.
Hope I didn’t miss anyone because they’re going to get effed.
Lea and Eddy Counties should have been given to Texas. The rest should have been given back to Messico.
Eff Michigan
Amen.
She’s pissed off because admitting and setting up care for a patient is a lot of work, and these people have zero reason for being admitted. I’m pretty sure it’s just the hospitals way of making money.
But it’s EVIL because the government is using these numbers to control us.
If it weren’t for the historical accident of Henry Ford’s birthplace and the shipping lanes that connected steel and rubber to Detroit, we’d be Iowa with better boating.
George Floyd’s death, like everything the left has done the last 4 years was about trashing Trump. Using the out of control cities to reflect poorly on Trump. T-shirts for Floyd were being worn the next day. Rioters were armed and ready.
Everything we’ve seen has been political theater. Don’t know Chauvin’s involvement but the prosecutor went for second degree manslaughter knowing that it was a stretch. A big stretch. So no matter the outcome justice will not be served for America and certainly not Chauvin. His life is trashed. He was arresting a drugged out loser who became unhinged. Personally, had he billy clubbed him on the head I wouldn’t have cared.
Floyd was a low IQ, drug addict, thieving, thug.
Can’t say anything about Chauvin other than I doubt he was a white supremist. Up until recently he was married to a Hmong woman.
Ahhhhhhh, thank you, Carin and I totally agree with your friend.
NM is constantly ranked 49th or 50th, it vies with Mississippi for the worst state. Democrat controlled forever.
Oh, and thank you for the poat, Roamy.
haha, Bongino has a REPUBLICANS POUNCE update today.
NM has the same problem a lot of states do. Too many votes in ABQ, SF, and Cruces for the rest of the state to overcome. Declining tax revenue due to canceling exploration and it’s promise of future production on federal lands will eventually result in them needing a bailout like their northern kin.
In the most recent legislative session, they legalized abortion and outlawed trapping on public land.

Someone I follow on Instagram linked a short video of a County of Los Angeles meeting.
The gal in charge tells everyone to “Please practice social distancing when the cameras are on.”
This is such a farce. Everyone in power in LA and the Governor of CA knows covid isn’t very serious.
I just saw a headline that read:
246 “full vaccinated” Michigan residents get COVID-19, three die:report.
Huh?
If the above is true the “vaccines,” which I’ve said all along aren’t vaccines, are garbage.
Maybe that vaccine ain’t all it’s hyped up to be. Shockah.
But we all know people are making BILLIONS on these vaccines.
So at least someone will have that third vacation home or private jet. We should be happy for them…right?
All vaccines have some level of failure, simply because some immune systems will not respond in the way that the majority do, or due to errors during the process. 246 out of 2.4 million is nothing.
2.4 million in Michigan have been vaccinated??
Of course there is failure, especially when it isn’t a vaccine.
I have never heard of herd immunity because of a “vaccine.” I was taught that herd immunity is reached when so many have either died or got it and survived then the population has reached it herd immunity threshold.
Now I hear the head of CDC refer to herd immunity as it’s related to how many are vaccinated.
Any of you know?
Correction, 2.9 million have received at least one dose. 1.8 million have received both.
You said that if it was true that 249 residents got COVID after getting the vaccine, then the vaccine was “garbage”. That makes it a failure rate of about 0.01%. Under that standard, then the polio and smallpox vaccines are both garbage.
My whole life. That’s literally the point of vaccination: to train the body’s immune system to respond to the virus in the same way that it does after successfully fighting off an infection. A vaccination is just a controlled infection so that the patient has a high probability of survival.
Another reason to get vaccinated: you get to punch Car in:
https://babylonbee.com/news/cdc-says-vaccinated-people-can-now-punch-unvaccinated-people-in-the-face
Our state legislature is recognized as the “dumbest” in the US. Gov Wuhan is the most crooked Governor in NM history. Bill Fatass Richardson was our Governor. She’s worse. Dominion machines came through for D🐀🐀 in November. When I saw the GA woman show how ballots can be changed and used up to 3 times, I realized that our votes have been manipulated for years. We are taking our own pens in May for the special election.
“My whole life” what? How many people would die of COVID, Alex about .01% so death rates getting or not getting the vaccine are the same.
My question was, I had never heard of herd immunity by taking a vaccine? You can establish immunity by being infected. Whole populations can be immune without the “vaccine.”
And if the outcomes of covid were like the possible outcomes of polio, I’d take the vaccine too. Polio has an actual, well tested (I think it was 10 years) vaccine.
These “vaccines” aren’t even FDA approved.
So if the death rate from the “vaccine” is the same as not getting the vaccine, the vaccine is garbage.
CO tourism was running ads in NM asking us not to visit. A few days ago, I asked Dan if he noticed all the Members wearing Sturgis 2020 and Mt Rushmore tees. Dan “I don’t look at people, let alone what they’re wearing”. That is BS. Dan has been caught multiple times checking out butts in shorts and yoga pants. Just last week, there was a 14/15 year old wearing high heeled ankle boots with short shorts and fishnets. Dan missed her, but the cougar in the low cut tank he saw.
I think the death rate from the vaccine is .00018. Vaccine death rate spans all age groups. COVID death rate is 80% for obese and the elderly.
Vaccine is something like 80% effective I believe? So far my own immune system has been 100%.
Also, Lauraw can pipe in here – this “vaccine” isn’t a controlled exposure to the virus.
Pretty sure you meant to say that 80% of the deaths are obese and elderly. Even old fat people have like a 95% survival rate.
Correct, Carin, it’s a mRNA disrupter.
My immune system has also been 100% and I’m older than most here.
I’ve never been against giving it to the elderly who feel vulnerable*. They’ve been scared to death by the media and if it helps them feel safer, well, great.
*Or anyone who feels vulnerable. I don’t.
Leon, you are correct. I just can’t believe how many CoWs are getting the gene therapy after having the COVID. I’ve stopped telling people that I’m not getting it. Read an article where HI is working with a University to develop a digital vaccine app. I don’t know what that means, but Dan will get jabbed if he needs it to travel to HI. Told me he’s going without me.
It’s higher than 95%.
Some wit said, how will we know if the vaccine works? Will the death rate go from 99.7 to 99.8?
Plus, remember that many, if not a majority, or covid deaths are not from covid but with covid.
Like Rush said, never let a false premise go unchallenged.
Hotspur had to get the vaccine because he’s old and gross.
*checks available dates for covid shot*
I meant survivability rate. Whoopsie.
Too bad all of the hunks bat for the other team…..
TiFW, Eye Candy is Eye candy
I’ve gotten to the point where I don’t even want to have a conversation with people who say they are getting the shot.
RBF is married with kids. She flirts with anything with a penis. She keeps flirting with Dan right in front of me. She doesn’t know that Dan is the one who calls her RBF. She has Easter Island Head proportions to the rest of her body. I mad dog her. True Story, today, I was getting mad dogged by a Mexican woman. I’ve never seen her before. I didn’t even give her the “Chimayo”. She was bigger than me.
I got the vaccine because my wife asked me to. That was one reason.
My second reason is that there are still places in the world that I want to visit, and I’ll need to get on a plane to go there.
Whether anyone else gets vaccinated, I couldn’t possibly give fewer fucks.
My question was, I had never heard of herd immunity by taking a vaccine? You can establish immunity by being infected. Whole populations can be immune without the “vaccine.”
Vaccines are infections. That’s the point. You trigger the immune system response by a controlled infection rather than an uncontrolled infection that you’d get from the target disease.
It’s analogous to using controlled burns to prevent wildfires.
And vaccines don’t have to be a weakened version of the same virus. Cowpox was used to protect against smallpox, and other vaccines use only surface proteins. The main deal with the COVID vaccines is the way that they modify a third virus to carry specific RNA which, once infecting the patient, creates antibodies that the immune system can attack.
I just mean, I don’t want to fake congrats that they got the shot, or explain myself, or say anything.
I don’t want to talk about it anymore.
Get the shot. It’s on you. Post your stupid selfie on facebook as if you’re “doing something.” Just leave me alone.
HS is always the voice of reason. Except when he wanted Pepe and I to go back to Mexico.
You guys can all be guinea pigs. I personally don’t see the need. Anymore than I’d need a vaccination to drive, or go running, or even visit my mom late at night in her horrible neighborhood.
What do you all think about Michelle Bachman(sp?)?
Alex, I’m not trying to be difficult, I completely get your point on what vaccines do, it’s the use of the term “herd immunity” that confuses me.
I’ve ONLY ever heard it used with non vaccinated groups.
A few days ago the head of the CDC made it sound like you achieve herd immunity through vaccination. I guess it can be both, I’d simply never heard (heh) of it being applied to vaccine. In other words, I thought you can achieve herd immunity naturally. A bell curve do to speak.
The confusing thing to me is that they are using “herd immunity” in reference ONLY to vaccinated people. Since they’ve decided that those who have had the virus STILL need to be vaccinated, they are not counted.
Until they circle that square, I’m not even considering it. It’s BS.
The confusing thing to me is that they are using “herd immunity” in reference ONLY to vaccinated people. Since they’ve decided that those who have had the virus STILL need to be vaccinated, they are not counted.
WHO/CDC literally re-defined “herd immunity” for the sake of the Great Reset.
Hotspur, if I have to get it to go to Hawaii I will (sort of).
I understand your reasons for getting it. Does Hotbride have some fears about it? Like your age *cough*? Or your health?
NO judgment. Just curious.
I agree. I don’t care who gets vaccinated I just don’t want to be forced.
And this is how they want to … present “us”:
“he survey also found people who are young and healthy have less interest in getting it, and there’s a large group who want to wait and let herd immunity happen without them.
“Because other people have committed to be vaccinated, I don’t need to be vaccinated,” Firek said, explaining what some people may be thinking.
****
Yea, that’s not it. That’s not it all. But I see what your PR campaign is pushing.
Toledo Mudhens single tickets go on sale tomorrow. Am I an horrible person for still loving baseball? Yes, yes I am. Will I be going to Tony Packo’s? Yes, yes I will.
Bitch Wuhan ordered New Mexicans to quarantine for 14 days after traveling out of state. Everyone ignored the package grabbing sexual harassment POS. We all lied about our travel. We went to CO, SD, NE, WY, AZ, NV, FL, and TX during lockdown. NV two times. 🖕🏻the drunk in SF
A guy at work, who has already had the china flu told me he was getting vaccinated. I was baffled he is not a masker, so I asked why?
His answer was to make others comfortable.
I bit my tongue, and did not say several things that went through my mind.
CoWs with previous WUFLU are getting pretty sick with the second jab. Muscle spasms and GI issues. Some hav3 even gotten the COVID migraine.
The two factors that are important in the multi variate analysis are age and obesity.
Sub Saharan Africa has the youngest population on earth and they are quite thin. They also take otc meds for malaria.
And basically no covid.
Starvation and genocide appear to have a silver lining.
I don’t wear a mask, and I’m not getting the vaccine, FTR.
I have to wear a mask for work. I’m no longer nice. I don’t even believe in masks, but I’m a total cunt to people that don’t Social Distance.
I wear a balaclava, get anal swabbed daily and I gave the vaccine to your mom
At least that’s what I told her it was
I have to wear a mask while in public areas of work. I am getting the shot because sooner or later it will be required to have it, to enter certain places of society, and I don’t feel like dealing with it. Won’t inconvenience anyone if I don’t get it, I’ll just get shut out.
plus right now it’s free. Probably won’t be, in the future.
I have anaphylactic allergies. I’m supposed to get my jab at an hospital facility. Woman in Utah died after 48 hours. Dr in FL died within 24 hours. I’m Team wait and see. We’re watching HI. I still need my Real ID. Thinking about playing the BIPOC card and having a grievance group pay for my Birth Certificate
Sales dog at work got the second jab yesterday and was sick today, had to go home and lay down. He’s not gotten the Covid yet but is the worst maskbitch I have to deal with.
I carry a mask in my pocket but only wear it around known maskbitches or public spaces with posted signs.
No mask, no vaccine. Haven’t been inside a building that wasn’t someone’s home since last May.
I want all of my CoWs that have jabbed or had antibodies to mask off and freak out the fucking Karen’s.
200+ associates. Fewer than 50 have to test. WM isn’t paying for redundant tests.
is it only the customer contact people who test?
Nope. App is disabled. Only associates test.
CDC hasn’t cleared us for furniture. IDGAF what common sense says. These D Rat voting retards are the reason we have CDC bull shit.
I’m “meh” about .380. The ammo is expensive and near enough to 9mm ballistically that id just go with 9mm. Im also very “meh” on sub compacts. They are only for very close, and have significant muzzle climb. With that said, I did carry a 380 Sig for certain occasions wearing business formal and was confident it would be effective. Reason I was confident (not bragging) but I hit what I aim at, I practice with focus at least once a month, etc.
Someone mentioned fit, and confidence. I agree, the handgun needs to “feel” right, which normally translates as not too heavy, user can fully encompass the grip, the grip angle fits the user when handgun is extended (shooting position) allowing for a intuitive sight picture and ability to work the action.. Finally the user must be confident in the effectiveness of the caliber and their ability to place shots accurately.
Someone mentioned .22, if I put a .22 rnd into a face, 99.99% of the time the fight is over. And this is the goal in defensive shooting. Not to kill but to stop the attack. If shmucko the bad guy dies as a result, oh well. So, can .22 be effective carry gun? I think it can, but its not optimum.
My advice is forget about brand names. Throw out the low end and high end manufacture, get the largest caliber you can comfortably handle, make sure it feels right in you grip, make sure you can operate the firearm (rack and lock slide, load, unload, break down for cleaning) and once you’ve made your choice, for the love of God, PRACTICE.
Practice like your fucking life (and the lives of your loved ones) are on the line. Because they are, thats what you carry for, to defend yourself or others from serious injury and death. I always ask myself “how much practice is my life worth”?
And once you learn to operate the firearm proficiently you should really study when you can shoot and when not along with the laws regarding self defense for you locale.
Thus endeth my generic spiel on handguns
* waves hi to Mare
Ridicule:
I’m team wait and see on the new vaccine. Have to wear masks to avoid drama in stores. AZ opened up, but Tucson kept mask rules in effect.
My concern is that we fly to ATL for the Blade Show in June and while we’re there, the airlines change the regs and demand proof of vaccination for the return flight. Have to rent a car a drive home or something.
Since they’ve decided that those who have had the virus STILL need to be vaccinated, they are not counted.
Until they circle that square, I’m not even considering it. It’s BS.
I was scoffing at this too. Then hub said that this is just proof that they are aware the false-positives rate was huge. And as you know, he is a genius.
The main deal with the COVID vaccines is the way that they modify[……..], creates antibodies that the immune system can attack.
antigens, not antibodies
In other news, hubby made smoked country pork ribs today that are so good it makes angels cry, and then he gave half of them away, which makes lumps cry.
I’m also planning on seeing if the local doc will give us an Rx for Ivermectin pills to take while we’re at the knife shows. Worth looking into at least.

Sub Saharan Africa has the youngest population on earth and they are quite thin. They also take otc meds for malaria.
And basically no covid.
Antimalarials which are similar to hydrochloroquine?
If I recall, one of the things that clued doctors into HCQ during SARS-1 was that none of their patients with lupus were getting sick. They all were taking HCQ for treatment of symptoms.
Don’s elderly relatives perished.

“Two days after Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen argued for a global minimum corporate tax rate, finance ministers from the Group of 20 nations voiced optimism for reaching such an agreement by the middle of this year. The G-20 countries, which comprise the globe’s leading economies, have been negotiating over the matter since late 2019. They are using a framework that would not only establish a minimum rate but would also emphasize the locations of businesses’ customers more than where their headquarters are situated.”

All that will do is allow a bunch of shithole countries to offer lower corporate rates and woo international corporations to their country.

Next story in the newsletter:
New Mexico just made it easier to sue the police.
“The state became the third, after Colorado and Connecticut, to bar the legal defense known as qualified immunity, a rule that for decades has protected officials from the threat of litigation for most law-enforcement actions. The Democratic-led move in New Mexico comes as Congress and dozens of states are considering eliminating or limiting qualified immunity—one of the most contested policing reforms being debated in the U.S. Police unions vehemently oppose such changes, arguing that they would be forced to work under the constant threat of legal action.”
Add that to the list of reasons to give it back to Mexico. I read an earlier story on I think Powerline Blog about the rate of retirements and resignations from the Austin PD. As part of the defunding movement funds for the police academy were affected so the pipeline into the force is being squeezed.
At some point the pendulum is going to make a hard swing back to reality.
I understand the concerns with the 380, but I think there is zero way I can run with anything bigger. This will be MAINLY for running, walking. Plus, as a female friend told me – a gun that feels comfortable in my child sized hands may be different from one than a grown ass man can easily handle.
I have memes for a Thursday poat if there’s not one in the hopper.

Don’t overlook small revolvers. Easier to clean and lube especially since it’s your running gun
