Today’s exercise is mobility/stretching work. Then tomorrow I do the hard level again.
Guys, I am so excited I was able to advance a level on my workout. It was pretty difficult but I could tell I was so much stronger than I was the first time I tried that one (I hurt myself that time because I wasn’t ready for one of the moves).
I always beat myself up for taking a few days off between workouts sometimes but I actually think I need them. It doesn’t seem to make me weaker, quite the opposite. No backsliding is going on even if I take 4-5 days off. I come back and do really well.
I think I read a long time ago that when women get older, less frequent workouts actually do more for us than closely spaced ones.
Still haven’t added any real cardio, just short bursts on the bike at high resistance for my knees.
Her jugs are cartoonishly large which is why she’s a perfect BBF filler model. Barring unforeseen circumstances I don’t anticipate her getting into the final rounds at year’s end.
I’m no expert with regard to understanding what you depraved animals like to see in these contests, but that trunk tattoo that looks like trauma from a car accident should DQ her from the finals.
We were lazy and left our patio table and chairs sitting out on the patio for Winter. They got dumpt on with snow.
Now, since the snow is not so much melting, as sublimating away, it’s getting carved out by the breeze and making implausible formations that look like little bridges or ‘strings’ of snow connecting the various structures together. It looks pretty cool. Would not have thought it was possible with this texture of snow, it was like dry sand.
I’d spend a lot of time in the pool too if I were her, just to get relief for my back. That poor girl.
Sorry Sobek, I meant to say thanks – I think that was the original punchline of the joke that I had forgotten. (I still like “pew-ben” though)

Workout /rest cycles are pretty important. Yes you can take 4-5 days off with no negative consequences, unless you do that a lot – lol. Gym rats often overtrain- it’s hard to accept the idea that you have to work hard sometimes, but not ALL the time. Crossfitters and lifters especially. Running – it’s pretty obvious how to listen to your body. Crossfit workouts are often pretty intense – but sometimes only 10 minuets long. So folks think – well, I should do more. Or go every day.
For the BEST effects of cardio – you need an 80/20 split. 80 % of your workouts should be in “zone 2” – which for some people can be a brisk walk. only 20% should be intense. Crossfiters (who don’t run) often only get the upper zone, and never live in zone 2 for the time they should. Because it feels too easy.
I know too many people who only take a rest day when they’re WRECKED.
I didn’t hold back talking to the doctor … I don’t know if she’s gonna be mad at me , but I got her in the psych ward this time. Last time – I wasn’t there – but they decided to treat it medically . As if it were just a medical event/ dehydrated/UTI. That is not the problem, although they were present as well.
Pat brought her home from the hospital on Wednesday, stayed with her rather late, and when I called her the next morning she was already sounding “fuzzy”. So I drove down. She was looking out the front window every 10 minutes and was starting with the “I did something bad, but I don’t know what” stuff. Called her primary and they said take her back to the ER. Clearly they hadn’t … presented what was going on with her stongly enough. You know, Kash Patel in her house, etc. Apparently she also – one night – thought she was being followed so drove around the city for hours trying to evade capture.

Simpatico Car in, spent end of last week and all weekend with FIL in hospital for pneumonia and CHF. He’s home now. Hope they were able to get your mil squared away. My FIL is deteriorating cognitively also, its tough to watch.
We need to get her into some sort of … living facility stat. She resisted for waaaaaaayyyyyy tooooo long. I can’t really bring her here until we do because the dogs are a bit too much for an 83 year old (my mom was in a chair so that was fine, and she loved having dogs around after years of not having one). Hoping to get her mental stuff figured out – it may just be a proper drug cocktail is needed.
Chance that illegal immigrants/gang members took that grandma?
I did a little google search and while it claimed that abductions for ransom were on the rise, most of the examples they gave were more of the mental health crises type. One was a boyfriend who abducted his pregnant girlfriend, etc. The only one that seemed a straighforward kidnapping for cash was this one …

Not much Olympic TV coverage that I’m interested in today, some rebroadcasts of earlier stuff and some figure skating (nah). Opening ceremony at 8 ET tonight
I used to eagerly look forward to the Winter Olympics every four years.
But after they were no longer an amateur competition and after they incorporated faggotry and dickassery into the opening and closing ceremonies I cancelled them.
I watch a bit of it … I do enjoy it. But usually they break things up to present to us in the form the marketing geniuses decide is best … they take the fun out of it.
The game with the USSR was played in the afternoon when I was at work but was going to be rebroadcast by ABC that evening with no hint of the outcome. My wife had watched the game in the afternoon so she knew who won, but she wouldn’t even hint to it, so it was like I was watching live.

They were college kids. People watching Miracle still don’t understand what a monumental upset that was. It was University of Michigan football beating the Patriots. It just shouldn’t happen.
I was 4 when it happened, so I kinda remember the adults being excited, but it’s like hearing about the oil embargo or leaded gas, didn’t make an impression at the time. I have bigger memories of Reagan being shot, and Columbia’s first launch.
For a time, when I was living and working in Eastern Kentucky, Huntington, WV had a hockey team (The Huntington Blizzard). I try to explain the difference to people between watching hockey on TV versus going to a game, and it’s a totally different and better experience. Here is what Brave says about the Blizzard:
Huntington Blizzard was a minor professional ice hockey team based in Huntington, West Virginia, that played in the East Coast Hockey League (ECHL) from 1993 to 2000. The team played its home games at the Huntington Civic Center (now Mountain Health Arena) and was the first professional hockey team in Huntington since the IHL’s Huntington Hornets departed in 1957.
The team featured a distinctive black, teal, and purple color scheme and had a notable player in Jim Bermingham, an ECHL Hall of Fame member who played five seasons with the Blizzard and ranks among the league’s all-time leaders in points and goals. The Blizzard’s best season came in 1999–2000, when they posted a 35–25 record, advanced to the second round of the playoffs, and finished with 80 points—its highest total.
Despite a strong fan base and attendance averaging around 4,000 per game in its early years, declining support led to the team relocating after the 1999–2000 season. The franchise was moved to Beaumont, Texas, where it became the Texas Wildcatters in 2003. The team later relocated again to Ontario, California (as the Ontario Reign) and Manchester, New Hampshire (as the Manchester Monarchs), continuing the franchise lineage.
The Huntington Blizzard remains a beloved part of West Virginia’s sports history, with vintage merchandise and memorabilia—such as black jerseys and crewneck sweatshirts—still available through specialty retailers.
Whenever the Blizzard scored a goal, somebody would throw a big rubber fish from the stands onto the ice, causing the crowd to cheer louder.
The 1980 hockey victory was an unforgettable moment for me as well. There were a few MA connections to the team members that were hyped on local media (4 played college hockey for BU). IIRC the gold medal was won by defeating Finland after beating the Russkies and that game was another nailbiter.
Meanwhile, testing in Bahrain next week and qualifying in Melbourne on March 6th! (My time…March 7th local)
I hate that Melbourne is back to being first. If it were later in the season, I’d be like “eh whatever I’ll watch the recording when I wake up” but with it being first, I’ll be up until 2 or 3 AM Sunday and then spend the week regretting it…and then do it all over again for China the following week.
I went to a couple of Minnesota Wild games too, I like the vibe but sports in general just don’t move me no more. I’d rather spend my time chasing memes and BBFs for fake internets points.
Jake Lang arrested for kicking over a Prosecute ICE sign at MN capitol. For vandalism. Hypocrisy much? Jesse Kelly is right, democrats know how to use power.
Attending live hockey games, I gained an appreciation for how hard these guys skate for the entire time they are on the ice. The exception might be the goalies but consider the weight of the equipment they wear and they have to be attentive and have lightning fast reactions for practically the whole game.
Speaking of the Olympics, yesterday I saw some posts on Twixxer that officials were looking into an innovative “doping” scheme by the male long jumpers. The accusation is that some are injecting some sort of solution into their willies to make them bigger, which means they get an ever so slightly larger suit that’s ever so slightly more aerodynamic.
It’s not one of your regular PEDs, they’re doing something called “hyaluronic injections” in the crotchal area. Allegedly. Also, they are looking into the possibility that others are building up that area with modelling clay and whatnot.
University of Minnesota hockey arena has a HOF area and Miracle on Ice tribute. Herb Brooks. College hockey is fun. We saw Gretzky when he was with LA. We attended a Henderson Silver Knights game when we were in Vegas. Big fight. Blood squad had to come out and clean the ice. Only 2 players ended up in the box. Phrasing! I have a Hartford Whalers jersey and a Golden Gophers.
One of my attendings played hockey for Harvard when he was an undergrad. He was a chief when I was an intern and after his fellowship got hired by UMass. Because he was a sports medicine specialist we covered a bunch of teams including the local semi pro hockey team, the Worcester Ice Cats. While it was fun to go to the games and sit in the doc box it made for a long day when you started with rounds at 0600 and were at a game until 9PM. The only advice he gave me was “If a player goes down on the ice let the coach and/or EMT’s walk out there first because 99% of the time they’ll handle it. Having the doctor out there just slows everything down and you’re gonna fall on your ass anyways”.
Curlers wear specialized shoes with two distinct soles to enable controlled movement on ice:
Slider Sole: One shoe has a Teflon or stainless steel sole that allows for smooth sliding across the ice, especially during delivery and sweeping.
Gripper Sole: The other shoe has a rubber sole with heavy tread for traction, providing stability when walking or positioning on the ice.
The placement of the soles depends on the curler’s dominant hand:
Right-handed curlers wear the slider on their left foot and the gripper on their right.
Left-handed curlers wear the slider on their right foot and the gripper on their left.
These shoes are designed for balance, precision, and safety, with features like lateral stability, moisture protection, and a snug fit. For beginners, removable grippers can be added to regular sneakers, and many clubs provide them. Professional curlers often use dedicated curling shoes, but the key is having one slippery and one grippy sole.

1978 Massachusetts winter storm …
I was living in an MIT undergrad dorm in Cambridge, and had a front row seat to a lot of this. There was a hook & ladder firetruck stuck on the bridge from Back Bay into Cambridge for several days.
So mil is in psych ward at hospital. She has chosen to not give us the the code (or call us with the code) so we – for now- have no idea what is going on with her.
She was on a few different psych meds … do you think they’ll stop all those and start her fresh? Any insight to what might be occurring?
We’re not sure how anything is going forward – and of course we’re concerned that some shifty judge/social worker will figure out she’s worth a good amount of money and find their way to be her “ward”.
I don’t know what code you’re talking about. Does she have no one in the family who is authorized to talk with staff? Usually the people at the hospital WANT to talk with the family to help piece together what has been going on. Is this sudden and new, or does she have a prior mental health history that isn’t documented where they can see it, etc.
What they do about meds will depend on what she’s on. Some of these things cannot be stopped, they have to be tapered off and cleared before you can start anything new.
The first day of inpatient they are just getting the patient settled, or at least that’s what we used to do. How long has she been there now?
If they admitted her last night or this morning, she has seen a doctor by now and been evaluated, plan of care probably been decided already. Is she at a psych ward at the hospital, or is she in a psych hospital? Can you bring her anything from home?
So, there are several people listed on the “can talk to” list at the hospital. We reviewed it when she was admitted. But apparently once she’s on the floor, in order to get info on the patient you need a “code” for them to be allowed to talk to you. Since she’s refused to call and give us the code, we are at radio silence at to what they are doing.
We worry because fact according to her are … fuzzy. She’s fuzzy. I gave them as MUCH info as I could went I spent hours in the ER with her. If I had been there when they actually admitted her, they would have given me the code. But we got to the ER around 3 … and I was there until about 7 and they said it could be the morning before they moved her (which turned out to be true). So I went home.
She is in a hospital that actually has a psych ward … but apparently the sorta move them on? I dunno. I’ve never dealt with this. They had initially said they might move her to a geriatric psych ward, but then since they decided it probably wasn’t age-related dementia that wouldn’t be the spot for her.
What Lumps said. An involuntary admission to a geriatric psych unit implies she’s not capable of signing her own consent and any proceedings to appoint a guardian ad litem without discussion with the family would be easily challenged. Not very reassuring when you’re dealing with the embedded inertia of a system that is used to steamrolling its way through stuff like that and it might be wise to notify the hospital administration via phone, email and snail mail that you are available to discuss any matters regarding her care so there’s no question of your availability.
She belongs in geri psych, and will probably get sent there at some point. Geri psych is not for dementia patients. They do get some dementia patients, but when they sort out that this is in fact what’s going on, the dementia patients get moved out to the appropriate care area.
I’m also sorta spooked because there have been two high profile cases of court appointed guardians stealing the money of their charges. One big case in Detroit and the other a case where a friend of Dana nessel was the perp and nessel ignored the case until finally pressure from Charlie LeDuff got the case moving.
I’d share my peanut butter and smelly sandwich with her
Another tatted tart, not worth a lick. Did I just say that?
She’s grody.
Good morning errybody.
But yeah, Rosetta would be in loooooove, lol.
Did another 23-ish hour fast yesterday. Trying to do one about every other day now, to reduce visceral fat and inflammation, and have more energy.
I’m no expert with regard to understanding what you depraved animals like to see in these contests, but that trunk tattoo that looks like trauma from a car accident should DQ her from the finals.
A hot mess of fun. Would.
AWESOME!!!!!
now THIS is BBF!!!!
Pupster for the win!!
Putting the Beeeee into bbf
I’d spend a lot of time in the pool too if I were her, just to get relief for my back. That poor girl.

Off to my 6 month checkup shortly. Cookie is taking me because she wants to grab breakfast somewhere after, which is nice.

PEDs normally shrink your manbits, so that’s weird AF right there.
Eric Heiden’s thighs
speaking of robust hindquarters, i’ll bet leon likes speedskating. That dutch team…
It’s not one of your regular PEDs, they’re doing something called “hyaluronic injections” in the crotchal area. Allegedly. Also, they are looking into the possibility that others are building up that area with modelling clay and whatnot.
The sport? Meh, as much as any, at least it’s got real scoring rather than ‘judging’.
The physiques on the women? Oh mah lawd…
They even named a hairstyle after her.
Tonya Harding?
Oh, hairstyle, not mob tactic.
I gained an appreciation for how hard these guys skate for the entire time they are on the ice.
I was shocked at the difference of speed in the game, college vs pro.
And i like the Olympic rink better than NHL, more room behind the net.
The non-players in hockey should wear these:
Curlers wear specialized shoes with two distinct soles to enable controlled movement on ice:
The placement of the soles depends on the curler’s dominant hand:
These shoes are designed for balance, precision, and safety, with features like lateral stability, moisture protection, and a snug fit. For beginners, removable grippers can be added to regular sneakers, and many clubs provide them. Professional curlers often use dedicated curling shoes, but the key is having one slippery and one grippy sole.
THERE IS NO DRAMA IN FIGURE SKATING!
Tonya Harding (eyeing Nancy Kerrigan), hold my beer.
I bought some books today. After I said I was going to finish my TBR pile first.
Also, the bookstore had the new Orphan X book on the shelf even though its release date is the 10th.
Does anyone want to know what books I got?
no?
too fucking bad.
I got “East of Eden” (never read it) and “Will of the Many” – which is what folks say to read if you’re done with the Red Rising series and miss it.
I guess 2026 is the year of the winter penis:

What a time that guy is having. Froze his dick and broke his ass. Has he considered taking up golf?
East of Eden is brilliant. I haven’t reread it in ages. Let me know when you start and we’ll totally do a mini book club.
sounds like an epic Ken Follett book
Huh, I bought East of Eden in 2017 for $1.99 and it’s in my kindle liberry. Currently reading a Jo Nesbo novel about the exploits of Detective Harry Hole called Nemesis. If East of Eden gets a lot of chatter I’ll feel like I ought to join the party.
More about what they’re now calling Penis-Gate:
“Since then, an October study published in the journal Frontiers in Sports and Active Living showed just how much could be gained by a nearly imperceptible amount of extra fabric. Enlarging the suit by around three-quarters of an inch was enough to increase lift by 5% and lengthen jumps by more than 16 feet, according to the scientific research.”
She’s going to help her chiropractor buy a bigger boat.

Huh. That’s crazy. *Zombie John Holmes signs up for the sport*
1978 Massachusetts winter storm …
I was living in an MIT undergrad dorm in Cambridge, and had a front row seat to a lot of this. There was a hook & ladder firetruck stuck on the bridge from Back Bay into Cambridge for several days.
Question for Lumpy – or anyone else who may know.
So mil is in psych ward at hospital. She has chosen to not give us the the code (or call us with the code) so we – for now- have no idea what is going on with her.
She was on a few different psych meds … do you think they’ll stop all those and start her fresh? Any insight to what might be occurring?
We’re not sure how anything is going forward – and of course we’re concerned that some shifty judge/social worker will figure out she’s worth a good amount of money and find their way to be her “ward”.
yea!!!!! East of Eden book club!!!!
i haven’t copy and can start whenever. Two of my irl friends are gonna read it too. I can start whenever.
i have my copy …
She’s only been on the floor since this morning.
She is in a hospital that actually has a psych ward … but apparently the sorta move them on? I dunno. I’ve never dealt with this. They had initially said they might move her to a geriatric psych ward, but then since they decided it probably wasn’t age-related dementia that wouldn’t be the spot for her.
The geriatric psych wards were at a different facility.
Yes, what Jimbro said. Stay involved.
Did you say that she was dehydrated or did I misread that?
she was dehydrated when she went in Monday. Not when I took her yesterday
regarding the Geri unit I’m just going by what they told me.
I’m also sorta spooked because there have been two high profile cases of court appointed guardians stealing the money of their charges. One big case in Detroit and the other a case where a friend of Dana nessel was the perp and nessel ignored the case until finally pressure from Charlie LeDuff got the case moving.
I had a Dorothy Hamill haircut, which later morphed into a Princess Di haircut.
Stepmom is having issues as well, but I’ve kinda stayed out of it. Her sister is nearby, and I have enough of my plate right now.
I guess high profile cases in the news are going to make you fret about that stuff.
