Sobek, you are right of course in the short term, but take heart. The left’s long march through the institutions (including the R party) took a loooong time. It’s easy to despair when you only observe us at what seems like the point of capture.
The failure of the Tea Party was predictable. It relied on the rotten structure to work. I continue to hold that any plan of action that relies on the GOP is doomed from the outset.
Yeah, I’m a regular ray of fucking sunshine, ain’t I.
Now let’s be clear–I am not saying the job can’t get done. I am saying we need to quick wasting time with things proven repeatedly not to work.
On their side, they have a pile of ugly control-freak billionaires and a more photogenic media apparatus which is there to sell their crazy and make it seem appealing to a lot of smoothbrains and ordinary people.
On our side, we have…pretty much everyone else. That’s why the left rarely has these massive, broad, populist spasms. Eventually everybody gets tired of Karen’s trendy but unworkable bullshit.
I lament that the redheads of my youth fell into two broad categories; earth pigs or modelesque. Of course that’s a broad generalization and I’m certain I missed a few of the datable soul suckers along the way.
Does anyone else miss when men were ripped because they actually did a lot of physical labor, not because they went to the gym and carefully sculpted themselves?
the physical labor guys were usually just thin. You’ve always had to go to the gym to get the bulging muscles. Then again I work in rural farming, so manufacturing or things like oil fields might be different.
Not claiming victory, because they can still cheat, but our guys can often win even in pitched battle with the lying smearing media. Lefties hate that about us. It makes them tremble to see it.
Musculature was different in work-was-labor times, for sure. Guys like Fred Astaire and Gene Kelly the on-screen examples that come to mind, but they were dancers and had a lot of trained grace of movement in addition to physiques built by a youth of “real work”. Modern hunter-gatherer types typically have forearms made of iron cables and very defined shoulders, but their pecs are flat and their legs would get a “you skipped leg day” out of most gym goers. You pretty much have to go back to the statues of Zeus and Herakles to see muscles like a modern gym rat in art, and that’s because the upper members of that society had the wealth and leisure time to do the same things they do today.
The human body is definitely a “form follows function” affair, best efforts of modern quackery aside. You have to trick it to look like a body builder, and that does have consequences down the road
Click through to Twitter – it’s the second video that I reference.
I mean, they’re not even trying anymore. Just throw out names and pretend you’ve made some point. And I really don’t know what it has to do with Rubio.
I can’t get over how perfect our fall weather has been so far. We’ve had enough rain to mostly replenish what we needed. Still could use more of course but I’m not worried.
Friends of my ex used to rent that house and I’ve been in it 20 years ago. It’s had 4 or 5 tenants/owners since then with the most recent doing a lot of work on it. Their timing for a sale sucks
Don’t get me wrong, I enjoy looking at the sculpted gym rats. We’re watching Stargate Atlantis right now, and I appreciate Jason Momoa. But sometimes they are just too artificial for my taste.
Race car drivers are a funny example of form following function. Necks as thick as a hawser such that they can’t wear T-shirts, paired with noodle arms.

PRO TIP: If your state cannot count every vote on election night, there’s cheating in your state. Entire nations count their votes on Election Day.
Emmett Louis Till (July 25, 1941 – August 28, 1955) was a 14-year-old African American boy who was abducted, tortured, and lynched in Mississippi in 1955, after being accused of offending a white woman, Carolyn Bryant, in her family’s grocery store.

I got a helpful postcard in the mail last week letting me know that every citizens voting record is available as a public record. Some reading between the lines reveals that they meant wether or not you voted, not what you voted for. Today I got a bigger postcard that tells me that thanks to “The Democratic Supreme Court of North Carolina”, I do not have to show a picture ID to vote this year. Apparently those evil Republicans passed a NC Constitutional Amendment requiring voter ID, which was struck down by the courts. I don’t pay attention anymore so this is news to me and probably all my neighbors.
I got a letter like that in 2020 with my voting record on it Pups. They know IF you voted, just not for who you voted for. Still think it was creepy and made me feel a little uneasy. It came from some PAC with Democrat roots.
I haven’t looked for it yet, but the local talk radio had a big story about Starbucks unionizing in north Alabama, with some gender confused barista sobbing into his/her/its phone about how hard the job was. The unionized stores aren’t getting the pay raises the non-unionized stores are because, gasp, there’s a union contract, and they have to negotiate.
Talk radio guy said when there’s a zombie apocalypse, that barista is going to be the first one eaten.

Teh Five is a hoot today. Arguing about Affirmative action and how Asians are the biggest whinners.
The answer is as simple as my life experience taught me with my first degree from the Tech college. Once I got a job in the field, after a year and a half I found I knew more than the “professors” did about the course topic. Asians walk in to Harvard qualified to instruct its tenured professors. Accepting them as students would trigger feelings of inferiority amongst the tenured staff.

Brandon’s speech tonight will be a lot of fun. The guy that claims he’s the only person that can defeat Trump is going to try a hail Mary to save the party. Next Tuesday Trump defeats him.
Heh, that SB video made me think of Ben’s hate relationship with the food service industry. His first paying job at age 15 was at CFA and he worked there for close to 3 years. Dealing with hangry people got old after a while. He was glad to move to his airport job but now that he’s in college it’s too far from campus for a regular thing. Being a responsible kid he wanted a job for walking around money and filled out a bunch of applications. Panera Bread was the first to get back to him so he started there. After the first weekend of training he was having flashbacks to the asshole customers he had to deal with at CFA and we suggested he tell his manager it wasn’t for him before the training was complete. He did. Now he’s doing the personal shopper thing at Whole Foods which is great – minimal interaction with unruly customers.
Ras al hanout is so good on chicken. Nom nom. But I’ve resisted buying those big bags of za’atar I’ve seen here and there. Can you give me a description before I commit?
Good earthy flavor different than any one of the single ingredients in it. If you have any Middle Eastern stores nearby they usually sell a range of sizes. Great on chicken thighs.
Sumac on its own is also great. I think I might have some.
I really need to douche out my spice closet.

A Toyota Camry doesn’t get the miles Democrats have gotten out of Emmett Till.
My old dealer had an ’89 Camry in the display area that had 1.4M miles on it back in 2012. Emmett’s got that beat.
