Good morning, and welcome to another edition of Hunky Hump Day. Sorry I missed last week – it was just one of those days. Let’s get started.
Decent one above the break.
Redhead for Carin. It’s been a while.
This was going to be the fake redhead for Carin until I found a real one.
Nice tan.
Looking forward to tomorrow.
Last but not least.
Thank you for your attention, and y’all have a good day.

Get rid of that candle, as holidays are over!
This is actually a pretty good idea, for Jay and Leon.

Get rid of that candle, as holidays are over!
It is lit in memory of a dear friend, not for any particular holy day.
How many bullwhips are shoved up your ass right now?
I already do that, Pup, just not to a duck.
I’m going to kill my Indian programmers. Been through scenario testing, found 200 bugs. Now in house IMS team is working on regression testing with business leaders and they will take 2 months when allotted 2 weeks.
The project is 1 year and 1M over budget.
All of this to put a date on an order. A date. A fucking date. As in, you send me an order, we put a date on it.
June 8 ? Stop messing with me.
June 8 is probably a no-go.
We were thinking about working it into a family trip out west with the camper (and MOOSE) but the kids are still in school at that point.
wakey wakey
I think I’ll take the ranch hand today. The redhead looks angry. Probably found out he doesn’t have a soul.
I’m going to kill my Indian programmers.
With apologies to Tushar, I’ve found your problem.
They aren’t all bad, but I’ve never seen that sort of outsourcing actually save money.
Car in, it’s June 24.
We are going out at least a week early.
Somebody seems to have issues with the depiction of candles…..people are weird…..
With all the other visual distractions on this site and the actual “posts” that change nearly every day I don’t understand how or why the candle causes so much pruritis ani
Another foot of snow coming your way Jimbro. Got room?
We are going to be in deep doo doo if that melts quickly.
http://moderndogmagazine.com/articles/whats-difference-between-scottish-deerhound-and-irish-wolfhound/52832
I could never have either of these unless we had a tall-fenced in yard. Apparently they run and run and run down game and kill and kill and kill.
But, cool breeds.
I’m going to kill my Indian programmers.
With apologies to Tushar, I’ve found your problem.
Slave labor may work for brute force, but for anything more, forget it. I’m convinced the H1B program was a massive mistake.
So my Finance final was fun. Nothing that I studied was on it. Kill me now.
At home we have room. Plow guy just pushes it off into the field or woods. It’s pretty dangerous navigating now with the massive snow banks at the end of streets. Next to impossible to see if any cars are coming and I’m up in the Tacoma.
Central Street in downtown Bangor yesterday was just one lane with massive snow banks on either side and cars parked haphazardly on both sides.
Pandemonium!
The old Genetics doctor/chief of pediatrics here used to have a few Irish Wolfhounds. Pretty sure he had a big chunk of land near the river in Brewer to let them roam.
That happened here a few years ago. Our driveway was a little hole in a wall of ice. When I drove my pickup into it I felt like a little bee going into a beehole in a board. Starting calling home ‘the beehole.’
I’m convinced the H1B program was a massive mistake.
Disney, Google, and Facebook were the main drivers behind it. Should tell you all you need to know.
I still don’t understand why Disney needs H1B visas. Can’t they just have the forest creatures work IT, or do they only to janitorial work?
I’ve been driving through your mom’s beehole for years.
(insert honey joke here)
I still don’t understand the H1B program.
What started it?
I grew up in a apartment (it was a good sized apt, my grandfather was a professor at Colombia University) in NYC with a Irish Wolfhound. My grandmother would have them flown in from Ireland. There is a photo of me around 5yrs old sitting on one cowboy style like a horse. Ulysses was a cool dog, when out on the sidewalk for a walk he would move back and forth in front of you always trying to keep himself between us and other humans. People did not fuck with that dog. He was my bud, and was frequently used as a pillow as I watched TV
I still don’t understand the H1B program.
What started it?
The BS idea that there weren’t enough Americans to fill certain technical positions. In actuality they just weren’t willing to pay enough to make it worth people’s time, so they opened the gates to foreign half-trained folk whose visas they’d sit on and treat like crap to build code Americans would later debug for twice as much as it would have cost to have Americans make it right the first time.
Ahhhhhh, I see. Sort of. A classic bad idea gone wrong.
“Starting calling home ‘the beehole.’”
=============
Why not “the A Hole”? Hotspur already claimed it?
Lindsey Graham once and for all STFU!
You know, I guess one of the things that fucks me up mentally is that stuff being said nowadays in the mainstream would have relegated the speaker to “tin foil hat” territory if spoken 10 yrs ago. You guys all seeing the references to the “deep state”?
Whats next? Freemasons? Bilderbergs? Illuminati?
http://www.foxnews.com/us/2017/02/14/trusty-pet-squirrel-foils-burglary.html
Everything about that story is awesome, Lauraw.
what started it? …. The BS idea that there weren’t enough Americans to fill certain technical positions.
No. Americans realized that technical work is difficult and responded by raising their rates. Microsoft and others decided that the problem was one of training, and tried to create certification programs and weak languages to fill the gap between demand and the supply of technical solutions. Those certification programs gave the illusion that with enough training and with good enough requirements, the whole skill set was transferable. And of course, the bosses were the ones who could lay out those requirements.
But a lot of technical work is, ironically, cultural. And the American culture is a construct of wealth. You can’t worry about getting killed for your religion or where your next meal is coming from and still figure out the correct encoding scheme that can be used to transmit bits. The Internet is built on the cultural premise that you have the bandwidth to worry about how to digitize things instead of having yourself blown to bits.
So H1B is about create a subservient but trained working class who will do jobs for less money. And by trained, it means taking direction from their American PM betters while still knowing their place.
There is so much wrong with the whole picture. I agree, though … H1B was a mistake.

…which was more or less what I said, just not as well…
So was 401k. Huge giveaway to Wall St.

I’d like to hear you elaborate a little more on this topic.
So you get to set aside a fair amount of $$, pre-tax, into an approved set of investment instruments. Nearly all of those instruments are stocks, bonds, things that buoy the DJIA, NASDAQ, and S&P. You buy more of the instruments with every paycheck, and you’re basically forced into “buy and hold”. The real traders can take advantage of that predictability and make money on it, meanwhile you’re stuck with the risk if there’s a major market correction at the same time you want to retire.
Hmmm….never thought of it that way. The alternative is to invest in funds that you can get in and out of at your discretion?
That’s the problem, with the currency being constantly devalued (inflation targets per the Fed), you’re forced to invest in something rather than just accumulating post-tax dollars. The safest things are probably precious metals or arable land, and even those have boom/bust cycles.
I put some numbers into an annuity payout calculator for the funds that my wife and I have accumulated over the past 25 years or so. Starting at age 65 with a 20 year payout, the value of the payout in year 20 would be worth a little more than half what it is worth in year 1. Kinda sobering.
My thought is that I buy a retirement home on a 20 year note where the payment matches the annuity payout. Not sure if that’s a good plan or not, but I’ll probably be so deep into dementia by then that nobody’ll ask me for my thoughts.
I’m thinking about cashing out and plowing all the money into a homestead I can either hand down or sell when I’m no longer able to work it.
I plan on plowing into your mom.
Whatever gets you through retirement, I guess.
Well, today’s been fun.
Phone is completely smashed broken.
I spent all day driving to and then from Detroit to get Ethan in to see a dentist.
Now I work.
My life is perfect and … mumble mumble I forget the rest.
How am I going to order seeds? or chickens?
Borrow your kid’s phone.
I have an older smartphone you can just have, actually, but I don’t know if that will help you.
Thanks, but the issue is time not $$.
Fart noise.

Why do they hate poor children?

Really loud fart noise.
-checks blog’s diaper-
What’d you find?
Corn or something like that. Tough to tell without further analysis.
It’s the potato peels that always gross me out.
I kicked ass today.
-checks blog’s diaper-
a blart?
This blog is nearly 8 years old and still not potty trained.
Today kicked my ass. The reward for doing good work is more work, and I guess I’m done doing good work because I’m fucking buried in it and can’t give the projects the time they need to be good.
How many clocks did you pack today, Scottw?
Today was fudge day, that’s why he kicked ass.
Today was gold, silver, and jewelry.
I should be able to switch over to clocks tomorrow.
I’ve had a serious man cold for about 5 days and this thing is kicking my ass. Mainly because it’s messing with my beauty sleep. Couldn’t use NyQuil because I’ve been on call 4 of the last 5 nights. A full dose of NyQuil knocks me out for the count.
Seems like you might be able to lay your hands on the good stuff Jimbro. NyQuil is for guys without a script pad.
I came to the conclusion that republicans aren’t going to do anything about Obamacare. There is no need, it’s in a death spiral now.
Do nothing, let it die, and keep you hands clean.
Winning.
The GOP is great at doing nothing and taking credit.
Man, #1 son is helping a friend hunt mountain lions. This guy is the toughest son of a gun I know. He has some kind of ebola and it’s really kicking his ass. They treed a lion, and he wouldn’t even walk over to the tree to see it. Basically, he’s been sitting in the pickup groaning the last two days. I’m praying I don’t get it. I probably will though.
Paula got it before me and after a few days I was feeling lucky thinking I missed it. But no…it was just lurking until I let my guard down. When I got home today Boy #2 was on the couch sniffling and coughing. At least it’s not norovirus.
Well, #1 son has been riding in a pickup with him for 2 days, I assume it’s lurking and I’ll get it eventually. If I get it, I hope it’s in time to infect everyone at jury duty. That’ll show ’em!
The OTC stuff for a cold is as good as any Rx stuff AFAIK. Which is to say, not so good at all. Unless you want to pull a Michael Jackson ad sleep through the whole thing for a week or so. Waking up is the tough part on that plan.
Danner boots are pretty nice. I’ll have them for 20 years.
GND is watching how Dodd Frank is being altered. From her perspective it’s a total joke.
She’s optimistic and happy so far. Small wins.
Fluids are really important.
Tito’s is a fluid.
This is a wonderful rendition of a classic.

The veterinarian’s husband got the flu one time. He was being really whiny, so she gave him enough Bute (horse tranquilizer) to knock him out. By the time he woke up 3 days later, he was feeling much better. 🙂
What a weird fuckin’ day.
Wandered outside this morning with a cuppa & a smoke, and it was 50 fookin’ degrees!
I got so used to mid 20s.
It took a LONG time to melt the 16″ of snow from the 4th. There was still some on the ground yesterday.
All day today – mid 50s and rain.
Almost like normal northwet February…
VDH goes off.

Still over a foot of snow on the ground, but the pavement is clear and it was mild temps in the daytime. We took a stroll downtown and I purchased my pea seeds. Spring is coming rapidly.
It’s been a really mild winter here.
Two weeks of bitter cold in Dec but no snow. Feb has been nice. It’ll be in the 50s this weekend. It was 65 last weekend.
Meth does that.
yayyy meth!
It’s been in the high 30’s for a low and high 50’s for a high here all week. Which wouldn’t be all that bad but wind has been blowing in the 20-30 range. Suckadelphia.
VDH goes off.
Heh. California is eating it’s seed corn.
That’s good, VDH.
On weekends you mom blows in the 20-30 range.
Sorry to hear that, Pendejo. I can empathize. It’s impossible to get anything done outdoors when the wind is fierce.
Wind was so bad here a couple days ago, I didn’t dare go outside just because we have so many big old trees around us constantly shedding boughs.
I’m running the AC right now.
Me too, xbrad. Kinda stupid for me, since it’s 38 here.
Looks up meth recipes.
Xbad needs to let Albert champion rest
I am getting a visitor in a week. I have only had one in my 4 years in Houston. I have a road trip to the hill country planned it will be fun.
After a week in the 80’s it only made it to 70 today
I forgot to add, driving my new Dodge still makes me grin like Xbad looking at sheep.
Sorry X
Wait, that’s been Pendejo??? Isn’t that Terrible Troy?
CA has a third of the nation’s welfare recipients?!? Holy cow, no wonder they all voted for Hillary.
Well, almost all. I know Hostages wouldn’t.
I wrote in Ted Cruz.
well, that was a day.
Cruz’s Obama/Putin tweet was a nice stab.
