I did sudoku for a little while, but I’d eventually start sketching out a program to solve it for me in the back of my mind.
Then I’d start sketching out a program to generate all legal sudoku boards so I could amass a database of them and just brute-force search them rather than solve any particular one.
What I’m saying is that I couldn’t let myself have fun with it. Not a humblebrag or anything, I just couldn’t see it as anything but a problem to be solved.

Sooo. Houseguest occasionally has ideas about using some of the produce in the garden for this or for that. Today she asked about using the swiss chard, plus one of the frozen containers of concentrated zucchini that I use for thickening soups in Winter.

Real Alchemy by Robert Allen Bartlett. He’s a trained legit chemist who’s also into woowoo stuff, so the actual lab instructions are well written and have good warnings like “this is caustic lye, don’t touch it and wash carefully afterwards, DO NOT touch your eyes” but then he’ll shift context straight back into “this will yield the Salt of the herb, while the liquid will be both the Sulfur and the Mercury of that same herb”.

Gravity is the weakest force by far. At the nuclear scale, the strong force kicks all the other forces’ asses. Hence nuclei don’t fly apart due to charge repulsion.
Geoff is right. Force strength is all relative and range matters. EM and gravity dominate the realm of classical mechanics, but at the atomic scale you can almost ignore them.
That said, if you could sort out an efficient way to make lead nuclei shed a couple of alpha particles, you’re literally better than golden.

Scapulars don’t appeal to me, holy water does, I have to stop myself from rolling my eyes at some “miracles”, but someone else out there might have kicked heroin because of them. God knows how varied He’s made us, and made a Church big enough for mystics who couldn’t grapple with modalism if it were explained to them slowly, philosophers like Aquinas and Augustine, and coal miners who have enough to do just feeding their kids.

My guess is that she knows his nature, and the fact that certain women will be drawn to that, and while she may not like it, she probably expects that if it happens he keeps it quiet.

Had we not bought and rehabbed the rental, we would have started charging the daughter rent after six months. And then I should have just started charging her rent after a couple of months of her not helping around the house.

Friend does this group thing, with old friends, on their phone. I flip through twitter every so often for like 15-20 minutes and like to focus on the funny/stupid videos. Every so often I see a product or service I think I’d like to know more about “some day” and rather than sign up for their emails I’ll follow them on twitter (usually never to be heard from or thought of again but that’s a whole other story).
I turned the Pats-Ravens game off at the start of the second quarter as soon as the Ravens gashed the Patriots defense for a huge run. After watching the first quarter I had a feeling how it would end. I read a summary this morning and I’m glad I turned it off when I did because it sounds like they were coming back at one point then the wheels fell off the bus and I would have needed to keep watching.
Lamar Jackson is an exciting player to watch and the Ravens are definitely playing a smash mouth, college style of triple option football but running QB’s don’t seem to last long in the NFL before the law of averages catches up with them and they become “injury plagued”
