Week 308: Stress

I got stress. Stress makes me overeat or make bad choices, or at least degrades my willpower to the point that I don’t have as an easy time keeping to the plan. Last week was also an experiment in shifting my eating window based on some “circadian rhythm” research that strongly suggests hormonal benefit to earlier eating rather than later eating, assuming one is eating in a time-restricted window. I did it for 7 days, and skipping dinner is much, much harder than skipping breakfast and lunch. I also closed on my construction loan last week (stressor) and had a pre-appeals-board meeting with County Health and Safety. Today I get to call the Department of Environmental Quality to schedule a site visit and talk about my driveway and the pond I’d like to dig. And I’m up 4# from last Monday, which, well, see the earlier part of this paragraph.

I have this same crucifix necklace, but I wear it on a steel chain.

MMM 302: Still sick, day 4

Haven’t really been able to have any down time or good sleep, so it’s little wonder that I’m still sick.  Has to be bacterial.  No fever, lots of phlegm, pressure in ears.  I’m just going to drink broth all day and skip all the uppers I had to take to be awake and mobile for Guard Weekend.  I am mostly mobile, just have to take things slow.  I managed to replace a rotten fence post yesterday in spite of it.  My voice is shot, though, and it sounds like I’m yelling because it’s the only way I can talk.  This has already caused one argument with the wife.  SS deadline is 8am today!

This is Anjella Sagra.  Instagram is her job.

MMM 290: Now the real work starts

We close on Thursday, so that alone is going to be an ordeal as wife, Possum, and I spend hours in the car getting the cashier’s check and then signing all the documents.  After that, eesh.  Gotta plant some trees, find a builder, talk to the engineered septic guy, find a guy to lease some acreage for hay planting, make some plans, get a building loan, consider borrowing from my 401k since the market’s sure to tank next year anyhow, get the landscaping in shape here, get the house and barn and fencing built and the well dug, sell this house, move 2 horses and 2 dogs and 13 chickens and 3 cats and a house full of stuff, and keep my awesome job going long enough to pay for all of that.

Next year at this time, hopefully, it will all be okay, but right now I feel like I’m going in for major corrective surgery or something.

Motivational statements in photos are sooo 2009.

MMM 286: No new land yet

Seller on the current land declined to counter, so we raised the offer and are waiting to see if we hear anything back.  My guess is that they aren’t terribly motivated, so we might have to keep looking.

Not gym attire.

MMM 282: New fence, new farm?

Going to go look at the acreage on Tuesday.  Gotta call fence guy today and schedule that install, which will set us back a bit on the cash on hand.  I’m in a weird place with whether I want to leave or not.  All the talk over the fence actually has relations pretty amiable with the neighbors, and we’re yet to find a place where the land and house are an actual step up for us.  About the only way it seems we can make that happen is to buy land and build, but that makes this a multi-year process, and there may be some lean times in the middle when we’ve got 3 mortgage payments.  Adventure, yay!

Tiring exercise.

MMM 278: One more garden

I’ve got 6 big, sprouty sweet potatoes in the pantry, so at some point today I’m planning to get a little cardio by forking up another section of yard, piling in some compost, making a little fence of oak branches, and planting those suckers.  Because that’s an entirely reasonable thing to do when you have sprouty tubers.

Pretty girl, might be a strawberry blonde.
