Good morning, and welcome to today’s edition of Hunky Hump Day.
Song I hadn’t heard in a long time.
So Chris Evans was named People’s Sexiest Man Alive.
He’s a libtard, but he *is* cute IMHO.
Those are the new pics, let’s see some old ones.
Yep.
*
Ok, I’ll admit I am lazy today.
And that will have to do.
Thanks to Pirate’s Cove for the links every week. Y’all have a good day.
Got a text from my election watching buddy saying it was a disappointing night of returns. That was around 2 AM. I’ve deleted so many NY Post breaking news emails that I can’t keep them straight. Needless to say, I fear the Democrat “machine” prevailed (i.e.: cheated) enough to keep the senate. I’ll wait to see a summary later today.
The same newsletter had ads for a couple of weeks for a vibrator company for women called Dame. Before that there was some company selling lube for the bedroom. Most of the time it’s premium underwear companies I’ve never heard advertised elsewhere. The adblocker doesn’t block them because, just like a vampire, I’ve invited them in by signing up for the newsletter.
Don’t invite me to your baby shower if you voted yes on 3. Until it comes out, it’s not a baby. It’s not a person. It’s just a choice. Keep it between you and your doctor.
Just saw the big election results for my state. Dem governor re-elected and Dem rep in my district re-elected. There was some mention of the Rank Choice Voting being needed because it was close but RCV was put in place by Dems to allow confusion and cheating so I’m not holding my breath on that one. No word on the local races.
And, what is NOT revealed in those numbers is the NUMBERS – that the young MY BODY MY CHOICE voters were the ones who turned out, while the rest had other things to do.
My response to anyone over the next few years over any complaint – inflation, us going to war against Russia … is going to be “But at least we can abort up until birth – just be grateful for that”.
I don’t think it’s all stupid. I think – and this is just me talking – part of it is that the level of … anger/outrage and contention – much of it centered around Trump – is what has caused a lot of young people to tune out. They want to be political, but they don’t want to have to deal with … ALL THAT. They don’t understand that being called a Maga fascist is the left’s strategy to GET THEM to stay out of politics if they have conservative. And it has worked.
Early voting passed in Michigan, which I don’t support BUT now that I think about it – that would certainly bring the more reluctant voters into the process. And I know a LOT of reluctant voters who would have voted Red.
Did the youth turnout? Or did they just turn out for Dems? That they voted in large percentages for Dems doesn’t mean they turned out in large numbers.
Prop 2 eliminates precinct counts in favor of “community” counts, Carin, and eliminates the ID requirement to procure a ballot. MI just had the last close approximation of an election it will ever have, we’re PA now.
The changes needed will not come from within the system. The system will fight them and has home turf advantage. If last night isn’t proof enough no proof exists, and I’m done arguing the point anyway.
It’s a clean sweep for our slate of candidates here in Pasco county Florida! Weather is finally cool and gloomy too. Been way too hot for too long. Funny how it went from “It may take a week to find out who won in Pennsylvania!” To “Oh yeah, Fetterman’s Monster totally won.”
Living on an island of relative sanity surrounded by an ocean of insanity it’s difficult for me to have an understanding of just how brainwashed parts of this country must be. When I woke up to find that fetterman is going to be in the fucking us senate it just overwhelmed me with gloom. The Republicans must really be heavily demonized in the northeast.
And then there’s Whitmer. How many shit sandwiches does it take for a tyrant like her to lose her appeal?
Pretty sure she didn’t break 40% where I live, Pendejo, but Lansing and Detroit have powerful necromancers, and now they get to work all through October to get the most reliable constituency to mail it in.
Alabama is…weird. Yes, it’s R, but it’s GOPe heavy, a lot of the older ones used to be D’s and it shows. Irritating, but better than the alternative I suppose.
Our state senate flipped, too. That used to be supermajority R even just a few years ago. We’re done here until Snake enters the World Code, near as I can tell.
I got home a little late from work last night. Mrs S was a poll volunteer so she was out even later. So I was in charge of dinner. The second I got through the door I started cooking (homemade chicken noodle soup, it was yummy), my daughter started asking me to play a game, and one of my sons starting blasting me with election updates. I didn’t have the heart to tell him how very little I cared about election updates while I was trying to feed people. I still don’t care, actually.
A family from my homeschooling group asked for help hawk-proofing their chicken run, so we’re going over there Saturday morning with some spare poultry netting and some staples.
C’mon in, Leon, the waters fine in IN. Of course, I live in a liberal bastion because I work for a University, but still, my D rep had to run on the R legislature raised the gas tax, like she wouldn’t pass every other tax bill if she could. State runs on a balanced budget by law and they rebate overages to the tax payers.
I’m going to be honest: I don’t really care anymore. I made peace with the futility of politics “through the system” after ’20. It’s just a matter of waiting to see who takes the plunge into the inevitable.
I hate life waiting for the other shoe to drop, but that’s been my life for nearly a decade now anyway, so it’s just another item on the list for me.
Tom, I wouldn’t actually mind, I lived in Goshen for a year. It’s the moving that would be hell, including my wife having to pass another Realtor licensing exam after just getting started in MI.
We’ll never destroy democracy at this rate. You people need to step up your game. I voted so hard my all my hair fell out. Now I don’t expect that kind of performance from everyone, but you should lose at least a good hank when voting hard or you’re not really trying to destroy democracy.
I’m panicking about giving notice, having flashbacks to last time when I had to run back and beg the consulting firm to let me start with Big Ag Corp after the other guys said they were going to go along with the clot shot mandate.
They spent ~30M on radio, TV, and yootoob ads, Jay. It was relentless and inescapable. Every single one was some doctor saying that without prop 3 women would die because doctors wouldn’t be able to do… something.
It was a constant, relentless ad blitz for the last month. TV, radio, yootoob, it was inescapable. Pass prop 3 or women will die because doctors can’t do… something. They weren’t specific on that.
Let’s face it, the Dems are laughing their asses off about the “Red Tsunami” today all while scheming to capture the few close races remaining by nefarious, yet wildly effective, maneuvers
Gave notice. Stomach is killing me. I’m now terrified for a whole new set of reasons, so I can almost forget that I suddenly live in California with shittier weather.
This fat pig won in New Hampshire. This is why the country voted for actual garbage and cheated everywhere. The country is mentally ill:
A biological male won “Miss Greater Derry” which is a beauty pageant in New Hampshire under the “Miss America” organization. pic.twitter.com/aME4Gd4bhm
My governor looks like she lives in a broken down trailer, is a chain smoker and has a drinking problem
Janet Mills got choked up while speaking with reporters this morning after beating Paul LePage for a 2nd term as Maine’s governor. “The reception at the polls was really heartwarming,” she said.
Just kidding, WIND – not wood. At least that’s what the grifter Angus King told us while working for a wind company before becoming an “Independent” Senator that caucuses with the Dems
This is the type of day where I really miss Rush Limbaugh. He would be in the studio projecting hope and optimism despite the red ripple last night. Bongino is trying but he readily admits, there was only one Rush and he is not his duplicate.
Here’s an attempt by James Freeman of the WSJ in his Best of the Web column today:
“Cheer up, Republicans. While a red wave may not have washed over U,S. politics on Tuesday, the ultimate outcome could be even better for the GOP. Given the president’s lousy approval ratings and inability to speak coherently, a midterm shellacking on the order of 1994 or 2010 would have triggered an aggressive effort by Democrats to push Mr. Biden off stage before the 2024 elections. Now they may be stuck with him.”
More Hopium, more “trust the system”. No patience left for it.
Feels like the last few weeks before mom died. You know it’s coming, it’s just when, and it sucks and you don’t want it to happen but really just want it done with for all involved.
The helplessness is the worst part.
I wouldn’t say I’m “black pilled”. It’s more a question of recognizing what the hour is and waiting for someone, anyone to admit to what should have been obvious years before.
You are not alone, Tim. Even where we “lost”, it wasn’t by much. They want you crushed and demoralized, running to vice and enervated by it. Ultimately, they want you to cry out to God and tell Him that life wasn’t a gift and you want it to end. They want this because that’s what their father wants, but he’s the Father of Lies.
And on that note, having slept roughly 2 hours last night and stressed from having to go through the “I quit” convo, I don’t think starting another long fast today is wise. Gonna eat something.
“Cheer up, Republicans. While a red wave may not have washed over U,S. politics on Tuesday, the ultimate outcome could be even better for the GOP. It would take a whole lot more than that for me to find a silver lining in this shitstorm.
I’m not giving up on life yet. For its flaws I’m in an area that should be less insane than many, so I like my chances. That said, it does infuriate how many have to lose so much–including their lives–and people still not realize the hour.
Blood’s on their hands as much as the enemy’s, so far as I’m concerned. May God have mercy upon their souls.
I got one guy from a recommendation but he didn’t show up, got a call the next day and he was in the hospital and he’d set up another appointment when he got out. Didn’t hear from him again. Saw a crew working a new house being built across the street and called the number on their truck. “Oh, we’re commercial – call this other guy for res.” Ok, called and left message. Didn’t call back, and never answered his phone on subsequent calls. Met another guy playing pool – his sons do lawns after school. Great! Gave him number and address. Never heard from him either. I was starting to take it personally. Gave #2 guy another chance and he finally called back! Happened to have a crew in the area and they got it done in 10 minutes.
It’s a point of pride that none of my kids had babies (so far) outside of marriage. I mean, it’s a low bar, but increasingly rare among today’s youth. Most (if not all) of my kids want children, but they want to be in a healthy, stable relationship first.
I told Pat that’s probably why Wedding guy has fallen so hard for Erin. She’s young, attractive, nice and NO CHILDREN.
Consulting firm reached out to confirm resignation. They are not happy with me. I’m sure I burned a huge bridge today with them forever, don’t know if Indeed has some sort of blacklist but I’m sure I’m on it.
I read that earlier tonight, I agree. Maybe it’s time for y’all to move to North Carolina and start a survivalist compound with me. I only suggest it because I’m old and fat and I need you guys to work the land and pay for most of it, my heirs are pretty much going to be cannon fodder at this point.
What’s the learning curve, for a Yankee to become a Southern gardener? I bet it’s full of awful surprises. Some things I can probably foresee but there’s always more to a new job than you think there is. That’s what makes learning a fun disaster.
U.S.A.’s best days are squarely in the rear-view mirror. One MAJOR item not even addressed in that thread is the absolute Leviathan of unpayable debt. Our entire civilization is massively over-leveraged by trillions upon trillions of dollars. There is no way this house of cards will stand.
BTW, Florida would be a MUCH better Moron / Hotsausage state to build our stronghold against the danger-haired neonazifascist barbarians.
I’ve got a tidal river (eel, herring, salmon, seal), deer, moose, skunk, raccoon, bear, turkey, fox, groundhogs, several apple trees and open fields for crops. The only drawback is 5 months of cold weather and insufficient woodland to cut any more than a couple of seasons worth of firewood.
We are high desert so not a ton of rainfall, but some pretty serious rivers (Yellowstone and Missouri) and lakes to work with. Rugged mountains for bug-out purposes. Lots of arable land in the eastern half of the state. Lots of people here don’t like Big G, and that number seems to be growing, although our Born Alive Infant ballot provision probably just lost. Gun-friendly state. Housing prices are going up, but that can’t last much longer and might already be in the downswing part of the cycle. Close to the Canadian border if that should somehow be a viable option.
The problem here is that it would be difficult for an individual raised on AC to sleep in between April and mid November. If you can’t sleep deeply and sweat profusely at the same time, you’re fucked in TX. Other than that……plenty to eat for a while……until the city folks start migrating this way.
“Feels like the last few weeks before mom died. You know it’s coming, it’s just when, and it sucks and you don’t want it to happen but really just want it done with for all involved.
The helplessness is the worst part….
I feel…alone. Again.”
Right there with you, friend.
On top of it, I’ve got kids who are apathetic, a husband who is contrary and unbelieving of the extent /scope of the wickedness of all these shitheads (wanting to please everyone), my favorite Aunt B just received her last rites, a friend who finally admits to me her ass of a husband hits her…while using his negative words to describe herself, parents whose orneryness is supercharged in their growing senility, and I’m supposed to host Thanksgiving when the menopause is kicking my arse.
(I started buying tofu and tempeh to see if it can take the edge off just a smidge…)
My state has nearly banned abortion as soon as Roe was overturned. It also had recreational weed on the ballot yesterday…..and we are sending the guy blamed for banning abortion to the US senate.
Weird how requiring voter id and having a SoS and AG (who we’re sending to the senate) serious about election integrity can put a dent in fraud.
The democrat who ran against Eric Schmitt for US senate is of the Anheuser Busch dynasty. The only experience she has is that she was a nurse.
She spent $11.7M. Schmitt spent $5.4M.
Srsly how does one find a good divorce attorney? My friend is open to a consult.
While I’m sure her son will take her in, I offered her the apartment downstairs free of charge.
I better put my seeds in the freezer, too. Nearly forgot.
I harvested a few seeds from a petunia I love and holy moly those things are tiny.
Also got a couple peony roots and tulips from Michigan bulb in their end of year sale. They came a few days ago. The roots are super healthy looking and I got them in the ground this afternoon. Hope it’s not too late…..a freeze is coming in a couple of days.
I was in high school in Grapevine, Tx when R.E.M’s first album came out in 1982. Saw them in a small club in ‘84. Loved it. Still think they are one of the best American bands ever.
One of my favorite bands for the last 20+ years is Sloan.
They just consistently put out good music. They’re originally from Nova Scotia and aside from a brief publicity blitz in the early ‘90’s, never really made it big here.
They are huge in Canada. They don’t tour much south of the border, but I saw them in St. Louis in 2019. They were great.
I have no idea what show this was, but I would pay cash to revive it:
mulch those recent plantings deeply to prevent winter-heaving, beasn.
Will do! I just looked that up (MO Botanical Garden) and they say to mulch after a hard frost? Why not the night before? The gardens where i planted these bulbs/roots, have years of dirt/compost goodness. Lots of worms in it.
I’ll use some leaves from the huge pile the husband dumped on the side of the house.

Before we decide where we build our compound, I think we should throws out the pros and cons of all our properties.
I have a lake. And woods with deer.

Yes and it sounds lovely but you have that tyrannical bitch as Governor and that’s a hard pass.
Scott, what STD monkeys are you talking about? Never heard of those, I’m sure they’re here, just never heard of them. And Florida Man may be crazy and have poor impulse control but he got DeSantis back in office with almost 19% more than the closeted gay, backstabber guy. That’s better than Philly electing a brain-damaged asshole.
I got up at 3:30 this morning when I heard the rain. Can’t stop thinking about my daughter’s place and the likelihood of flooding with a slow-moving storm front. Ufffffff.
I can’t complain we dodged the Ian bullet. My husband kite foils and someone from Naples drove up to do that here because the beaches there have so much bacteria they’re essentially closed.
beasn, before a hard frost the mice are still out looking for cozy Winter homes to burrow into. A pile of mulch will do just fine. They’ll shelter in there and sniff out your tulip bulbs, too. So waiting until the surface of the ground has frozen a bit is a good idea.
This is also why I don’t spread mulch on garden beds in Fall, at all. The mice in my yard are so bad. I spread rough compost in Fall but no more mulch. Mulch is for Spring in my yard.
Hate to beat a mentally deficient horse (not talking about me right now) but I can’t get over the dumb bitch bringing up Fetterman for President because he got better numbers than Trump (?). In rural areas? No.
“Sexiest Man Alive” is problematic
I won’t be happy until a trans “man” takes the title
Got a text from my election watching buddy saying it was a disappointing night of returns. That was around 2 AM. I’ve deleted so many NY Post breaking news emails that I can’t keep them straight. Red Mirage?
We need to start breaking voting machines in Dem bastions.
Hold that thought … a judge would allow voting to continue for another day or two because of injustice or something like that.
What are the odds Fetterman will serve his term?
Mrs Fetterman was named the senator by Brandon at the recent rally he attended – he probably blurted out the plan in advance.
This spam advertisement has been showing up in my daily dictionary newsletter recently
“5 Weird Gifts For People Over 55 years old Will Sell Out in 2022”
It shows a chainsaw about a foot long being used to cut a 3 inch log.

Are you sure you spelled “dictionary” correctly?
Google is getting inside my head
fucky fucky.
This is my new stance:
Don’t invite me to your baby shower if you voted yes on 3. Until it comes out, it’s not a baby. It’s not a person. It’s just a choice. Keep it between you and your doctor.
I mean, gender reveals? It’s not a person. It’s just a glob of cells. how could it possible have a gender, which … I mean, are you woke or not?

And, what is NOT revealed in those numbers is the NUMBERS – that the young MY BODY MY CHOICE voters were the ones who turned out, while the rest had other things to do.
Under 30 crowd came in two varieties – One issue voter, or didn’t go vote.
I need to listen to some metal.
Fetterman’s win is 100% on the establipublicans.
Chris Evan’s sexy is ruined by his stupid.
My response to anyone over the next few years over any complaint – inflation, us going to war against Russia … is going to be “But at least we can abort up until birth – just be grateful for that”.
Bright spot!
I was really hoping to quit my job in a better environment, but I guess heading into The Greatest Depression is as good as any.
Assuming Gen Z is really that stupid…and they may be…also remember we’re getting double teamed by Dem cheating and GOPe perfidy.
Sorry gang. This ain’t getting fixed by conventional means.
“Youth turnout” that historically never turns out suddenly turned out?
Tell me, how many of them mailed it in?
I don’t think it’s all stupid. I think – and this is just me talking – part of it is that the level of … anger/outrage and contention – much of it centered around Trump – is what has caused a lot of young people to tune out. if you couldn’t motivate someone to vote in this cycle you never will

There is no political solution.
Prepare yourselves.
Not going near the mothership today. I love the Horde to death but too many still can’t accept what’s staring them in the face.

I don’t guess it takes much ability to allow Schumers fist up your ass every day though.

From last week I think. We care but it seems like by and large the American public doesn’t give a shit about anything but aborting babies on demand
Don’t forget ‘shrooms, Jimbro. You can toke up and travel to parallel worlds in CO now.
The coffee shops there should capitalize on it with their spent grounds if they don’t already have a revenue stream from them.

Holy shit, WTF is wrong with Maine?
Everywhere you turn a man is beating a woman at being a woman. Beauty, sports, academia, government hires. Great. Yeah! Woman power!
The country is mentally ill and, evidently, we aren’t voting our way out of it. We’re effed.
It doesn’t have enough oil to be Alaska.
See my first two comments today. I am truly shocked that People Magazine has not named a tranny as Sexiest Man Alive yet.
Sports Illustrated has given us fatties and a tranny in their swimsuit issue already.
No oil or coal but we’re the Saudi Arabia of wood

Given the president’s lousy approval ratings and inability to speak coherently, a midterm shellacking on the order of 1994 or 2010 would have triggered an aggressive effort by Democrats to push Mr. Biden off stage before the 2024 elections. Now they may be stuck with him.”
It would take a whole lot more than that for me to find a silver lining in this shitstorm.
Cheer up cheese bags.
You still have time to buy canned goods and train with your weapons.
I finally got someone out to mow my lawn today so we got that going for us, which is nice. I’ve only been trying for the last three weeks.
So Mitch is telling me that there’s work where he is for someone with a truck, trailer, and a zero-turn.
Some days that’s got a lot of appeal.

People in CT reelected just about everyone.
There is a bright side.
Our town wanted to borrow $278,000,000 to renovate the elementary schools. (25,000 people live here)
It went down in flames. 60% – 40%.
The Northman starts out violent, doesnt it?
fight scenes need work
did they want to turn the school into an NFL stadium?
4-5 schools in total.
We were planning on moving to avoid paying our share.
Additional $1000 per year in property taxes, when people cant afford to heat their homes.
Democrats fightin’ for the little guy.
Did I tell you guys about my dishwasher delivery? Opened the box … it was a washing machine.
ugh.
Hey Lumpy Lumps, watch your mail. I sent you a teaspoon of seeds from the unicorn cleome.
Yep. All of it.

Yep. All of it.

Pros: Longer interval between frosts
Cons: So many bugs
Before we decide where we build our compound, I think we should throws out the pros and cons of all our properties.
I have a lake. And woods with deer.
Florida has Florida Man, and wild monkeys with STD’s.
They might be the same.
My neck of the woods:
We are high desert so not a ton of rainfall, but some pretty serious rivers (Yellowstone and Missouri) and lakes to work with. Rugged mountains for bug-out purposes. Lots of arable land in the eastern half of the state. Lots of people here don’t like Big G, and that number seems to be growing, although our Born Alive Infant ballot provision probably just lost. Gun-friendly state. Housing prices are going up, but that can’t last much longer and might already be in the downswing part of the cycle. Close to the Canadian border if that should somehow be a viable option.
I got lots of woods. We’d make it a good many years.
Where’s Ethan at in his advanced training? Has he completed it? Any news on assignments?
I’ve got lizards and persimmons.
Our stuff isn’t covered in lizard poop.
All I know is the dirt is orange and it doesnt get too cold here.
5 months of cold weather
*laughs in Northeasterner*
dude, what’s 12 minus 4 again
Palmetto bugs are trainable for home security and they taste like dark meat chicken.
I admire your sales technique/ attempt at such.
In season, you can pick grits right off the vine.
It doesn’t matter how long official winter is for being cold here in the 54th state
Last spring frost: May 9
First fall frost: Sept 30
More like 7 months of being cold.
Move to the red dirt persimmon place
We’ve got a property near lakes. Bring your own tent and toilet.
Roving packs of wild pitbulls keep the feral cat population in check.
hmm, i’ve seen the grit vines in iowa too
Dental standards are highly relaxed.
Ethan’s in MOD 14. Finishes in the first week of January. Still no word on duty station. Waiting waiting …
Iowa counted their votes too. Axne, the last Dem rep, went down today, now Iowa is 100% GOP.
The democrat who ran against Eric Schmitt for US senate is of the Anheuser Busch dynasty. The only experience she has is that she was a nurse.
She spent $11.7M. Schmitt spent $5.4M.
Thanks for the seeds, beasn! I’ll start some in Spring and store the extra seed in the deep freeze.
Hope it’s not too late…..a freeze is coming in a couple of days.
mulch those recent plantings deeply to prevent winter-heaving, beasn.
Freeze your seeds only after you are sure they are absolutely dead dry.
I was disappointed last night. I refuse to get depressed.
Used to get really spun up about this stuff, but no more.
Control what I can control, do the best job I can.
Be the best man I can be: strong, loyal and loving to my family.
Also, just bought 1000 rds of .556.
Vibing on some really old school power pop tonight.
No idea why these guys weren’t bigger in the late ‘70’s/early 80’s.
Maybe Cheap Trick sucked all of the attention out of Illinois?
Wife is out of town, so I’m watching music on YouTube.
With my two shih-tzu’s. Hey, they’re Tom Petty fans too!
I’m going to work on my power pop post at some point. I just keep getting distracted by great music.
It all started with the Rickenbacker. Something about the sound of that guitar just grabs me.
mmm haven’t heard Good Girls Don’t in a minute. Used to be a favorite for house party soundtracks.
There’s a lot of versions of ‘American Girl’ by Tom Petty. The ones with the Rickenbacker are the best ones.
In non-music news I watched ‘Confess Fletch’ on Amazon prime. It was really good.
John Hamm is like any of us morons, just better looking.
mulch those recent plantings deeply to prevent winter-heaving, beasn.
I also love their first video, filmed at the Gander airport. Without permits, in one take.
Dastardly evildoers resumed pillaging.
The gal that speculated about a Fetterman run for President, what do you think she’s actually doing?
Trolling normals?
She took too many of her antidepressants?
I misread the room and it’s actually SNL?

Ww
beasn, before a hard frost the mice are still out looking for cozy Winter homes to burrow into.

I answered, Mare. Your monkeys have herpes. My link went to spam and I don’t have keys.
Another try ….. https://www.washingtonpost.com/science/2020/02/25/rhesus-macaques-herpes-florida/
Huh, didn’t know about those monkeys, but I did know anything is possible here.
Thanks, Scott.
Herpes monkeys are still better than Whitmer.
Herpes monkeys with guns are better.
Can’t argue with that.
Hate to beat a mentally deficient horse (not talking about me right now) but I can’t get over the dumb bitch bringing up Fetterman for President because he got better numbers than Trump (?). In rural areas? No.
Yes, please run Fetterman for President. And if he wins it will show everyone this isn’t about voting anymore.
Since Pennsylvania elected a dead person I’m 100% sure the rigging was planned waaaay ahead of time.
Uhhhhhhfffffff, I don’t think Trump understands DeSantis’s popularity. Don’t screw with your base, Trump.
I have memes for a poat, brb
