  5. Who wouldn’t want to Yizz on Yazz?

  6. Shout out to all those Bitches In The Future!

  7. Interesting story Thermadin. I for one, take glass manufacturing for granted. Sounds like this was uber specialized glass stuff.

  8. ^^^ That Tucker clip is a lengthy one but so on target. Exposing liberal hypocrisy is always a joy to behold. The summer season is winding down on the Vineyard which means dozens of not hundreds of hotel rooms will be vacant. Odds are better that they’ll ship them off to a shithole city like New Bedford, Lawrence or Fitchburg rather than take in the huddled masses.

  9. A very pretty girl! Even prettier when she smiles instead of pouting.

I do not take glass for granted…it’s a difficult battle to get glass good enough for optical purposes but tough enough to serve as a window. Plus we need specialty coatings to reduce triboelectrification. Static charge can build up on a spacecraft window as a result of the interaction between the air and the window (like rubbing your socks on carpet), and if that charge discharges, it can actually crack the window. A cracked window on a spacecraft is a bad day.

Anyway, some people say they can’t read in dreams, but I can. I just read an article in “Nutrition ‘n’ Farts” about the flatulence-generating properties of the humble turkey sandwich.

I don’t want to know what’s going on in my subconscious.

  10. She seems fun.

  11. 9/10 would smash

  12. Insty has a link to a guy planning to make a private space station/lab with spin “gravity”.

I hope it works, but I have this unshakable feeling that the human brain will never accept a rotating frame of reference as normal and will descend into madness trying. Gravity has been modeled in the nervous systems of every ancestor we’ve ever had, and I don’t think rotating acceleration vs linear is going to cut it.

  13. Hubba hubba.

  14. “I just read an article in “Nutrition ‘n’ Farts” about the flatulence-generating properties of the humble turkey sandwich.”

Considering how easy it is to get bogus papers published these days, that sounds uncomfortably plausible.

  15. Half the time I can read in dreams, half the time I can’t, but then again it generally doesn’t come up much in my dreams. Symbolic or something? Who knows.

  16. If I ever decide to go back for a Math PhD, I plan to do my dissertation on the effects of climate change on non-abelian groups in economically challenged communities.

    Defense should be a layup.

  17. Peel, So are spacecraft window laminated like car windshields?

  18. Why not just make the windows out of steel? Problem solved.

  19. Transparent aluminum, brah.

  20. Related: at the central campus rec building at UM, there’s an indoor running track that’s basically all rubber (or was, it’s been a while). If you ran a mile or two on it in the right weather in the right clothes, you’d pick up a lot of stray electrons. I used to get little lightning bolts when I’d stop to use the drinking fountain.

  21. So you’re the one who’s been hogging all the electrons!

  22. I gave them back!

  23. I’d ask for proof, but I hear electrons don’t have serial numbers.

  24. Sort of, yeah. The windows are coated. That makes the imagery folks sad bc coatings interfere with optical quality. (Yes, they can tell. Or so they say, anyway.)

  25. All are welcome, here!

  31. Is anyone awake? Friday a bad day?

  36. I mean the entire thing could be a babylon bee skit. But it’s not. It’s reality.

  37. Doctor community wouldn’t know a tip if you hit them with one.

  38. How many journalists are on MV? If it more than 50 I’m thinking it’s another humanitarian crises.

  39. Doesn’t look anything like Yazz Pistachio from the old Bloom County comics.
She should, however, make a lengthy GIF of herself on a trampoline. It would be an awesome way for me to waste time on Fridays at the office.

  40. OK, the butcher’s bill is ready…mostly.

On top of the battery and lights (which did go north of $500 as expected), the amplifier in the sound system is out…that’s $1300. As I told them straight out, that’s a non-starter. So I’m going to pick it up as is and have a car with no radio, no instrumentation noise (nice choice there, having all vehicle alert noises through the one system), no phone through bluetooth…but the car is driveable, which is what I need.

Still extremely painful. But I get my car back on the road. I worry about the rest another day.

  41. They transported the MV50 to the base I used to drill at. It’s called Joint Base Cape Cod now but in my era it was Camp Edwards.

  42. twitter: soon you’ll be able to trade like congress!

unusual whales is a must follow, very good stuff

  43. I’m still laughing at the mental image of a magazine called “Nutrition ‘n’ Farts”. Probably would have a decent market among gymbros who want to justify their refusal to eat cruciferous vegetables.

  44. haha, the MV50

I heard it was actually 48, they just rounded up

  45. I still remember getting reamed by a LTC for joyriding in a HMMV. They were tearing down old WW2 era barracks and there were about 15 streets separating the sunken dirt that was left behind. I asked the PFC driving me if he wouldn’t mind letting me take the wheel for a bit. Soon as we were buckled in I tore off perpendicular to the roads and got halfway through my return trip through it when the colonel put a stop to my fun. Fortunately he realized I was a dumbass doctor and told me to cut the crap and admonished the private to have the humvee sparkling clean within the hour. Good times!

  46. The MV residents didn’t make it 36 hours.

  47. I’m sure the swells on MV see themselves as heroic for treating them well for that 36 hours.

  48. Oak Bluffs is were the historic black neighborhood is located on MV. Nowhere near Obama’s mansion

  49. The MV stuff is like early Christmas for me. I can’t even explain how much I’m enjoying this.

    In this house, we
    welcome immigrants

  50. Every additional event around it gets more and more amusing.

  51. Send 200 next time. Give them hedge trimming equipment. I’m curious what will happen.

  52. Just read this from a “friend” on facebook. Mind you, she is pretty wealthy.

“Is anyone else out there doing this or know if it’s even real?
I just verified I was a Pell Grant recipient when I was in college, we file taxes jointly and are under the max threshold. I’ve paid lets say 10,000$ on my student loans since March 2020 voluntarily with a remaining $3800 on my federal student loan. Am I really able to request a refund of that $10,000 I made in voluntary payments back, then my total for my loan goes back up to $13,800 and gets forgiven under my $20,000 forgiveness and I get to pocket the $10k?
This seems too good to be true? I just found out about the voluntary payment refunds yesterday and my loan provider confirmed I can do that….. does anyone have more insight on this process?”

  53. Well, it does seem pretty damn unfair if people who paid voluntarily get screwed over while people who didn’t pay get to benefit.

Meanwhile, those of us who paid out of pocket or already paid their loans get screwed over more, but fuck us, right?

  54. Shameless ask

I’d think anyone who understood what a Fuck You this is to society at large but still wanted to get their share of the “free money” would be more discreet

  55. More places that could stand some diversity:
    – Kennebunkport, ME
    – Park City, UT
    – Taos, NM
    – Vale, CO
    – Glencoe, Hinsdale, Lake Forest, Oak Brook, or Winnetka, IL (take your pick)
    – Grosse Pointe, MI
    – Newport, RI

  56. I’d think anyone who understood what a Fuck You this is to society at large but still wanted to get their share of the “free money” would be more discreet

    That would require self-awareness.

    Liberals do not possess this.

Every response should be a blue lip auto-response.

    This isn’t who we are.

    The wrong side of history.

The arc of history bends toward justice.

This isn’t the arc of justice of history that we’ve been waiting for.

    Pass the drawn butter.

Perhaps those last two weren’t entirely genuine.

  59. I’m naming my scythe Arc of Justice. I’ll have to get a soldering iron to etch the handle.

  60. It reveals the lie about the entire deal. It was SOLD to the public as needed because people are struggling and that this wasn’t a handout to the wealthy and privileged.

But as my friend reveals – that is exactly what it is. They live in an expensive house out in the country. She has a fancy job and wears designer clothes and shoes. She obviously could pay off her student debts (which enable her to get her high paying job) and now she’s going to be handed $10,000.

  61. Tweet that didn’t age well:

  62. “I’m naming my scythe Arc of Justice.”

That’s the most badass thing I’ve ever read here.

  63. From Ace:

“The agent said those driving bureau policies ‘have already determined that White supremacy is a problem’ and set agency wide policy to elevate racially motivated domestic extremism cases as priorities.”

This is true. Don’t ask me how I know.

  64. If the people of MV are so virtuous and welcoming, wasn’t Desantis doing a wonderful thing sending the illegals there?

I think I need help connecting dots here.

  65. Yea, I saw that article this morning (not ace, elsewhere) – have it up on my facedouche.

  66. MV sure was anxious to escort the illegals somewhere, anywhere other than there. I recommend Brookline and Cambridge next.

  67. Cataract surgery on my right eye yesterday. I now see 20/20, and no longer see triple images.

  68. bet that looks pretty good now!

  69. Well that explains why you thought that gal from rings of power was good looking. My wife couldn’t see shit before they finally agreed to do cataract surgery.

  70. “The agent said those driving bureau policies ‘have already determined that White supremacy is a problem’ and set agency-wide policy to elevate racially motivated domestic extremism cases as priorities.”

Of course they have. The political appointees running the FBI know how to take orders and massage the data to get the results desired. It’s how the self-confident, self-congratulatory, but scientifically ignorant Ruler Elites do “science.” This is why we shouldn’t believe anything they tell us, without independent unbiased verification.

My hunch is that whatever minuscule number of white supremacists exist, they are products of our federal and state penal systems, and became that way in order to survive the tribalism inherent in the prison systems.

But at the rate things are going, there are going to be a lot of “white survivalists” who focus on race only because it seems like a statistically valid marker for distinguishing friend from foe. Which is a shame.

  71. HAHAHA! Buses have shown up on Martha’s vineyard to remove those illegals. Where do you think they’re going to ship them…the next suburbs over…make the taxpayers foot the bill for hotel space. I’ve seen on Twitter where the bots are all screaming hoe DeSantis could do such a thing…trafficking people…umm, wtf?
Funny how quick that happens. DeSantis should have sent several hundred.
These f*cking people really need a giant karma slap upside their heads. From the illegals breaking the law, to the lawless administration, to the lefties who applaud open borders except if it lands in their neighborhood.

  72. Sorry that was uncalled for and it was meant in jest. I will endeavor to be better. Glad to hear the surgery went well.

  73. “White supremacy is a problem’ and set agency-wide policy to elevate racially motivated domestic extremism cases as priorities”

How many a year is that even a problem? As many as they can inventory?
Are they going to include all the cases, which is most, of what turned out to be hoaxes? Wasn’t the latest at Brigham Young…volleyball was it? An aunt of the player, and then the player said she was called racist names, threats from attendees. Investigation could find nothing after the damage was done.

  74. It reveals the lie about the entire deal. It was SOLD to the public as needed because people are struggling and that this wasn’t a handout to the wealthy and privileged.

If you have a student loan and buy an EV, you’ll pocket 17.5k this year.

That’s awesome for wealthy folks. Free EU vacation for the fam.

  75. If you want to hear Howie Carr talking about MV (and many other things)

  76. I’m absolutely convinced they’ll pass SALT repeal in the lame duck.

For your average working class family making around 300K and living in a 1.2M home, that’ll save another 12-15K.

That’s 30-35k back into the pockets of working class families just struggling to put filet and caviar on the table every night.

  78. Sorry that was uncalled for and it was meant in jest. I will endeavor to be better. Glad to hear the surgery went well.

No offense taken as I know no offense was intended.

Now, if MJ had said it, I would beat the shit out of him.

But I mean that in a nice way.

  79. If there’s any actual refunding going in…um…

    Hmm.

May need to look at that. Otherwise I do believe the person in question is in the process of being victimized by a scammer. Which…somehow I’m having difficulties feeling bad about that…hang on, I gotta have some fucks around here somewhere…no…wait, maybe under the sofa?…nope. Sorry.

  80. Great, Ace is posting opera now? I’m going to have to come up with a new bit.

  81. So I’m doing my weekly round of “send reminder emails to all the people who haven’t answered me, in some cases dating back 6 weeks” and it occurred to me that I only very rarely get similar reminder emails. Is that because I actually answer when people ask me questions or because no one else keeps meticulous notes on who needs reminding about what?

  82. […] H-2 has a Model of the Day […]

  83. peel, I feel seen. I HATE it when people don’t answer.

  84. I have been on both sides of that. If I have an avalanche of email, if you’re not on fire, I’m probably not going to get to you before you’re saying hey, tap, tap, is this thing on? On the other hand, I am the bulldog that doesn’t give up on open tasks (one is eight years, and I still bug him on a regular basis, because, dammit, it’s not too late.)

  85. HS, I’m glad your cataract surgery was successful.

  86. ” If I have an avalanche of email, if you’re not on fire, I’m probably not going to get to you before you’re saying hey, tap, tap, is this thing on?”

I confess, I have been there.

  87. I Confess, by Catherine Wheel, is a great song.

  88. WordPress won’t let me log in.

  89. Something wierd.

  90. Uh oh, who was supposed to tell Pupster?

  91. This is going to put a crimp in my weekend meme plans

  92. Cookies. I guess I turned them all off.

    NO COOKIES NO MEME

  93. hmmmmmmmmmm

  94. This week Sugar has decided to eat my clothes.
She ate the collar of a $30 shirt, the buttons off of 2 $50 pants (unrepairable) 3 underwear, and the left pocket out of a $100 pair of dress pants. (I put my phone in my pocket and it immediately fell out my ankle.)
She has turned into Zule the destructor!

  95. Or maybe Shiva the destroyer, but she is lacking a few arms

  96. She’s under two, so normal…right?

  97. As a puppy Rowan ate two pairs of eyeglasses and several book bindings of Paula’s nursing books. His crowning achievement was eating part of the wall in the kitchen. Ate about a 5 x 5 cm area and about a centimeter deep. We put a cabinet up against that wall about a year later so it’s easy to forget about it.

Ollie has eaten a few shoes, a few of Paula’s sports bras and the biggest hit was a pair of Sony headphones. After giving him a lot of chances that he’s blown he is either in our direct vision or in the crate when we leave.

  98. We bought toddler proof covers for the gas stove. Ollie is a long dog and uses his height to reach up to investigate interesting things. Mostly counters and dirty dishes but also the stove. We’ve both smelled gas after he’s been in the kitchen and seen the knobs turned partially on. Fortunately he hasn’t turned them on but we figured getting the covers before the house burnt down was prudent.

  99. FWIW, if he’s just turning on the gas but not pushing the igniters, chances are the house will explode, not burn.

  100. Well, factually, explode then burn.

  101. Stack up pots and pans on the edges.

Pot avalanche will end that real quick.

  102. Congrats, Hotspur, hope everything continues to heal well. Do the eye drops like you’re supposed to.

  103. Follow-up on Jolene

  104. No.

  105. A pot avalanche would literally scare the piss out of Ronin. (We know this from experience, sadly)

  106. He’s a sweet boy, but he is also a giant wuss. Hopefully he gets a little braver as he gets older.

  107. haha, I can imagine Elliot freaking out on a pot avalanche.

  108. Pujols with 698, missed 699 by about 5 feet

  109. Fanks, y’all. No eyedrops prescribed. Doc injected me with some stuff that keeps the eye moist. Cutting edge shit from s cutting edge clinic,

I suppose there are some upsides to living in Ann Arbor after all.

  110. my friend said it was like lifting a cloth from his eyes, it was such a difference. Glad it was done successfully! Do you have to wear special glasses?

  111. MTG coming out with impeachment papers for Brandon? Come on!

  112. stupid as Miss Lindsay coming out with a nationwide FEDERAL ban on abortion. We just sent that shit back to the states!

    Can we stop shooting ourselves?

  113. ‘Spur, no drops is a blessing. I had to do drops several times a day for a couple weeks. I was so bad at it, so I had to have Anita put them in, as I was dropping $50 on my cheek a couple times a day. It’s been 7-8 years and my vision is starting to need ‘a little squint’ to see clearly, so I should probably go in for an exam…

  114. Lindsay does not understand Dobbs held that abortion is not the job of the feds. He is a dipshit. It’s up to the states…

  115. Discount exorcists rarely prevail.

  116. Heh, yes Scott, barely one year old.
I forgot she also ate my wallet, particularly liked the 20’s and the chips in my credit cards. The ones fives and 10’s she only ripped in half, I am still finding tiny pieces of 20’s.

Hotspur, I had one eye done in 2007 when I saw 4 moons in the sky. The Doc missed and I am 1.5 near sighted. In 2014 after I moved to Houston I had the other eye done, the Doc deliberately made me 1.5 far sited, so I can read and see depending on which eye I focus on.

  117. sighted. sorry, my bad.

  118. Mehems

  119. OK, been up for a couple hours. Starting to yawn again. Lessee if I can get some more shuteye.
