MJ, I just listened to a couple of Slowdive tunes and liked them a lot. The vocals remind me a lot of the first two Catherine Wheel albums (one of my favorite bands ever), like they were recorded through smoke or a fog.
    ———————————-
Glad you like them. They took a short 20 year break but came back with a great album.

It used to be called shoegaze but morphed into dream pop. Beach House is my all time fav dream pop group.

The singer, Victoria Legrand, was so messed up during a show that I wasn’t sure she was going to make it. As god intended.

So these freaks are going after Cruz and Hawley. Why just those 2?

“Democratic Sens. Sheldon Whitehouse (D-R.I.), Ron Wyden (D-Ore.), Tina Smith (D-Minn.), Richard Blumenthal (D-Conn.), Mazie Hirono (D-Hawaii), Tim Kaine (D-Va.) and Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) teamed up on the ethics complaint.
The ethics complaint comes as several Democratic senators have called on Cruz and Hawley to resign from the Senate.
In addition to launching an investigation, the senators are asking the Ethics Committee to “offer recommendations for strong disciplinary action, including up to expulsion or censure, if warranted by the facts uncovered.”

Local radio guy was talking about the commies search/destroy tactics partly as it regards Hawley, so I binged his name.
Apparently, in the past couple weeks, Walmart apologized for tweeting out that Hawley was a sore loser for contesting the vote…saying whoever was in charge of their social media mistakenly tweeted from the wrong account…
…and… establishment Republicans, in MO, are expressing their regret for backing him. GFY, Danforth, I thought you croaked a long time sgo.

Wow. She’s definitely fits the category, right down to her initials. Good job, Pupster.

It’s funny how much more metal I listen too now. It’s pretty much that, jazz and 40s Junction on SuriusXM. And even the metal i listen too is actually older: Tool, Deftones, Incubus, etc. Just seems to fit the times.

HA! City of St Louis is talking about decriminalizing prostitution.

  9. Comment by MJ on January 22, 2021 7:21 am

It’s almost as if the Boomers have decided to legalize everything they did in their late teen years, thus absolving themselves of guilt for being total pieces of shit and ruining the country.

It’s amazing to me that someone could look at NYC in the 70s and think, yes! we should do that everywhere!

  10. Comment by beasn on January 22, 2021 7:31 am

St Louis has a shit ton of problems, and becoming a pimp seems to be their priority. It’s nothing to do with boomer anything.

  11. Comment by MJ on January 22, 2021 7:35 am

I stand by my comment, lol.

I really do think Boomers are looking at the past with a bit of nostalgia, trying to recreate their youth right before they die.

I just want them all to die already. Present company excluded of course.

Not sure a majority of boomers frequented prostitutes in their youth.

  14. Comment by MJ on January 22, 2021 7:47 am

Yes they did. 100% of half of all boomers admit to using prostitutes.

That’s 65% correct, if you do the math.

We’re trying to get Ollie to chill in his crate for a little bit every day. After a busy morning of play, eat, poop/pee, play, pee, play, pee we put him in the crate while Paula ran out to the gym. After listening to him whine for 20 minutes he quieted down. A minute later the furnace kicked in and a truck downshifted on the Main Road and Rowan started barking (he equates the noises with a vehicle pulling into the driveway). And it’s back to Ollie whining/barking again … good times here!

I mean, my God, the music alone you people listen to could easily bring on WWIII. Then there’s your manscaping, and piercings, and tattoos, and raising your kids with trophies for everyone, no toy guns, dresses for boys, no tolerance for bullying, condoms on cucumbers, new math, car seats, bike helmets, ice skating helmets and walkers, play dates, electric outlet covers, diversity, pronouns, infinite genders, and on and on.

Future generations will look back on boomers and write books about how great we were, and make movies about how we were the last generation of genuine people. They’ll want out of their fake world and won’t know where or how to begin.

First, yes you have. But I’ll keep your secret because we’re friends and when I loaned you the $20 I had no idea you’d drive to Car in’s house with it.

Fine. Be that way. I take your point on WWIII, but you only think the music sucks because you lack taste. Probably killed it with the shitty beer your generation was forced to drink before my generation discovered that things didn’t have to taste like warm piss.

But I want to point out a few things…

The Beatles, who are apparently the greatest band ever and ever and ever were from the SILENT GENERATION. God I wish they would have gotten a clue and remained silent. Would have spared us their whiny bullshit navel gazing garbage and plinking three chord mediocrity.

    Jim Morrison 1943
    Eric Clapton 1945
    Brian Wilson 1942
    Mick Jagger 1943

Oooooooh. Missed it by that much.

And don’t you pin the millennial’s garbage on me. No one even talks about my generation because we were the first to be subjected to unfettered abortion. It’s basically just me, Carin, and Morrissey. Everyone else was sucked out by free love.

Future generations won’t be able to read so they won’t be writing books. They’ll be glued to their fucking idiot devices that have somehow merged with their hands THAT YOUR GENERATION CREATED. Thanks for addicting everyone to useless shit, boomers! Great work everyone. Now three people have a kajillion dollars and everyone is addicted to porn and seeing pictures of themselves. Don’t worry about anyone caring about anything that happened prior to tik tok.

It is interesting that the testing cycles is going to be turned down and the vaccine distro is ramping up.
    ——-
The testing changes will make the numbers go down big time, even without the vaccination. This was described last year in the midst of the exploding case numbers. Following the election it was predicted this would be used to disappear it. Now St. Fauci and Dementia Joe will need Secret Service protection from all the panties that will be thrown their way.

Paula got dose #2 of the Moderna vaccine on Tuesday at work. That night and all the next day she felt like shit. Chills, shivering, feverish, muscle aches and a sore shoulder. Finally feeling better today and after her shower she showed me her shoulder … there’s a big oval shaped area of redness, about 8 x 10 cm. She went to work in the afternoon until 7 to cover for a nurse who got the vaccine and had to go home because he felt lousy.

I wish they could make those flavored boozes without so much sugar in them. Do they, actually? I should check. I have tried flavored vodkas but they are way too sugary for me.

Zubrowka is about my speed for a vodka that has a nice subtle little taste to it.

  153. Comment by leoncaruthers on January 22, 2021 5:07 pm

They don’t have to put nutrition labels on liquor, and I’m okay with that, because it’s gov’t overreach to insist on them at all, but I was always curious how many carbs honey whiskey had, or pama.

  154. Comment by Jimbro on January 22, 2021 5:21 pm

Every couple of years I’ll get a bottle of Drambuie and that stuff tastes like it’s loaded with sugar. That’s pretty much the only thing I drink like that. I’ve had the Jim Beam Honey bourbon before but it was so long ago I forget whether it was super sweet.

  155. Comment by osoloco11 on January 22, 2021 5:25 pm

  156. Comment by Pupster on January 22, 2021 5:44 pm

The Sheepdog PB was very sweet and buttery, tasted great at room temp. I like sweet wine and flavored liquor, so I’m probably not the person to make recommendations if you don’t. Almost all the vodka makers have flavors now, I’m partial to Stoli Raz with soda.

Nothing says, “This was a perfectly normal election, and now it’s time to come together as a united nation,” like having your swearing-in behind 12-foot-high razor wire surrounded by 25,000 troops whose loyalty you doubt.

I dig Slipknot, the little that I’ve listened to. I love Wait and Bleed, Psychosocial and Before I Forget. Not sure why Duality never really clicked for me.

That Porcupine Tree was cool. Huge drum kit. Good atmosphere. Definitely sounds prog.

I get what you’re saying about shoegaze, but workout music isn’t the only reason to listen to music. And I listen to almost everything. For Christmas I got CDs of Brahms, Shostakovich and Vivaldi, and I love all three, but I can’t listen to any of them if it’s not the right time. I love disco, eighties pop, metal, jazz (rarely, but sometimes), second British invasion like Oasis and the Verve, party music like Smash Mouth or Sugar Ray. I’m a huge fan of grunge, and AIC is far and away the best of the big four there. I just spent a couple days listening to almost the whole Anthrax catalog (I’m up to Vol. 8: The Threat is Real). My brother in law turned me on to a mariachi sounding guy named Juanes (check the guitar work in La Camisa Negra).
