It’s my go-to. Gluten’s not the only prolamine, just the most commonly troublesome. I get a milder reaction to zein (corn), and almost nothing to rice, but I can easily overeat rice.

I just avoid potatoes and starches that are evil, and watch portion sizes. I’ve started making supper at night, and varying what i fix. Chili dogs are still in the rotation, but haven’t had potatoes since Sept (including Thanksgiving).
That will continue until goal of under 200, and that’s a ways off, but it’s a great start. Mrs Jay has been pleased with supper, and she’s been eating better too because of it.
you guys have helped out a lot, with your support. laura got me off orange juice, and Car in got me varying my diet, and eating enough. Still not in on the fasting, but it’s not because I think it’s full of shit. This is just working right now.

I’m doing sort of low carb with intermittant fasting, but Christmas cookies are sabotaging me right now. That, and I eat when I’m stressed. I am doing better about doing my physical therapy every day for my knee and lifting weights (low weight, 20 to 25 reps).
I was so inspired by Jay’s example, today I did the ten minute knee, abs, and back exercises that I’m *supposed* to do regularly (to prevent injuries) but almost never actually get around to doing because habits.
BOOYAH I feel great. Off to work.
Thought is appreciated! Doing a bit better–hostess only had 24 hour bug, so Christmas is back on for me, which is good news in all aspects. Everything else can be dealt with slowly but surely. May take a while, but sometimes you just gotta do it that way.

My whole career has been a mistake, Pepe. I have hated it ever since I quit my first job doing driver training sims. That was the last time I really liked what I was doing, and that was over 20 years ago. Quit so I could move self and ex-wife closer to her family. Huge mistake, and I’ve never really recovered.
Every dream I had as a young man has died, but I’m still here and I have to make the best I can of what’s left. I thought maybe I still at least had some skills I could trade on, but that no longer appears to be the case.

Not the same story, but many of the same beats. Just looking for something fitting what skills and aptitudes I have left to be able to live out what years remain decently. Not lookin’ for a fancy car or big house and I’ve written off a family of my own. Just me and maybe a dog in a decent place to live with what I need and a couple of things I want.
They’re working on crushing that, too, I’m sure, but I gotta play out the hand anyway.
I have seriously considered cashing out my retirement entirely at the next apparent market peak and paying off the farm with it, but that might miss out on what hyperinflation* is going to do to stock prices, whereas the mortgage isn’t getting bigger in nominal dollars anytime soon.

Update on neighbor: They had to take him to UNM Hospital in ABQ for surgery. He had plates put in his right ankle, a rod in his right leg and he also broke his left hip. Don’t know how they fixed that. Maybe replaced the hip??? It’s going to be a while before he’s getting around very well.
