  1. PJM, this is a morning maker!!! You done good.

  2. Catchy tune…
Can’t understand stand why I have never heard of the artist before.

At least, by comparison, the rest of my day will be amazing.

  3. Gayer than a French Horn.

  4. I wonder if the two “dancers” in Wiser’s video will end up on our BBF?

    Bed dusters? Maybe.

  5. Wait, it’s the same girl. I was too entranced by the guy’s voice.

  6. Okay, just watched the chicken cutlet video … I’m glad I waited!

P: “What are you laughing at Jim?”

J: “Oh, random women reacting to a video of a man seductively caressing a chicken cutlet that looks oddly like a vag … ”

    EXCELLENT!!!

  8. A friend of mine is working in a covid unit at a hospital. I told her about the stat (Which I could never verify) about the % of covid patients who die have a DNR. She said it jives with what she sees. Many are dementia patients. She had a younger man get moved to ICU but he had both downs (which has additional health issues) and morbidly obese.

And yet we continue with all this.

  9. It’s almost like people who are almost dead already can’t handle acute respiratory infections.

I’m not a leftist doctor, though, so the AP has called it for global muzzling and permanent movement restrictions.

  10. Its also almost like FPOS have trouble when they have extra girth around their lungs/diaphragm, and a respiratory illness is bad?

Her hospital has 2 covid units plus an icu covid. So, she isn’t basing this off of a few people.

  11. A “friend” posted some bullshit about how if it were the young who were dying, the elderly would do everything they could to keep them safe.

Which … first is sorta neither her nor there. What “everything” would they do? Seriously. Plus, wouldn’t that be the natural order anyway?

Regardless, apparently telling people who are at risk to stay home to let the rest of us carry on is a hateful message. I may need someone to explain why.

  12. How about we let the dumbasses who watch too much news and have no discernible reading skills stay home and rock in the fetal position and let the rest of us live our lives?

Oh, and someone explain to the dumbass governors in your state why Florida with one of the largest populations and most lax “covid rules” has a continually declining death rate?

  13. Telling everyone to stay home and paying them to do so is a cornerstone of the GND. Despair is part of the plan, because there’re about 10x or more people than there “should” be.

  14. The problem in my area? Lots of minority *cough* individuals who are obese, are part of a group known for diabetes and have incredibly poor eating habits (cause/effect YMMV) making the curve a little crazy.

  15. I’m guessing we have at least one dialysis center for every 3-5 mile radius.

  16. Aaaaaaand 6 degrees here this morning. No fun at all.

  17. We’ll have to continue like this until only the essential people are left.

Add “non-essential” to the litany. Deplorable, irredeemable, non-essential, fascist…

Just for wanting freedom and economic opportunity for literally everyone as we had it in 1964.

  18. Would older people give up their social security or medicare?

    Of course not.

Should I give up my job?

    Of course.

This is a logical nightmare that makes zero sense. Most people can’t think beyond a or b, black or white. Which is why you get lockdown or mass death.

It’s time to break up the country regionally so people can choose where they want to live and what type of government they want.

  19. reporting everything I do every day, twice. Once in email, and otherwise continuously in a teams chat

    Yay

  20. When you look at what is in some people’s scooter carts they have to use to shop because they are so fat you understand the metabolic problems.

If any of you listened to that podcast I linked (yeah, right), you’d know that shit eating leads to chronic gut inflammation, which leads to a confused immune response, which is why when obese or diabetic people get COVID they get sick fast from the cytokine storm. Which is why you hear about these cases getting bad so fast.

It’s hard to read the comments without wondering about people’s sanity.

  24. hahahahahaahahahah JIMBRO!!! You did the research to find out there are actually 2 dancers.

    Bravo!

  25. What conspiracy theories?

  26. reporting everything I do every day, twice. Once in email, and otherwise continuously in a teams chat

We had “daily activity logs” for the first 6 months of the rest of the office being remote, then they relented and dropped it to weekly. Near as I can tell, literally no one does the “required” weekly log.

This is in a (ha!) Agile context that has daily meetings and continuous updates to assigned tasks in Jira.

  27. It’s hard to read the comments without wondering about people’s sanity.

They put the whole country in a Skinner box and the media gaslighting of normies is non-stop. Sanity isn’t always easy when that happens.

Anyone in Florida right now? How weird is it there? Wife asked me last night if we could rent a timeshare until March or something.

  28. if it were the young who were dying, the elderly would do everything they could to keep them safe.
    —–
That’s a painfully obvious statement that is simply a platitude. Of course they would. From the family unit of parents and grandparents sacrificing for their children to communities supporting kids’ development directly or indirectly (taxes) in education, sports, religion, etc. There’s always a few selfish bastards *avoids mirror* but for the most part it’s common knowledge that you need strong kids for a good future.

  29. I just got back. It was very normal.

People just going about their business in the Tampa area.

  30. Our poor daughter has become a glow kid, because there’s literally nothing else. Her former school has the kids in masks all day, and public school is even worse. Indoor play places are closed (possibly forever) and we have 1 friend locally with a daughter her age.

  31. MJ, I thought you were coming down in December?

I’m in Florida. Other than having to wear an idiotic mask into stores everything is the same.

  32. A glow kid?

    What does that mean?

  33. That’s just as fucked up as Indiana, then. No point.

  34. Her face is in a screen most of the day, Mare.

  35. Gorgeous Ladies Of Wrestling

    Seems a little young though

    *dials CPS

  36. You’re right, we are waiting for our governor to step up and say, masks are voluntary at any store.

The problem? What I wrote earlier about certain groups in the state who are prone to obesity, diabetes and the linked dialysis.

  37. Perhaps I’m jaded but my opinion of the elderly has changed a bit.

I used to think of them as the folks who fought WWII, the big one, and sacrificed a shit ton for our country.

    They’re all dead now.

Retired folks are mostly boomers who spent their early lives as major assholes, then made fuck tons of money in the 80s, started voting themselves ever expanding benefits as both dems and republicans, and seem very content to take as much as possible while foisting the bill upon the backs of their kids and grandkids. My guess is that they don’t think anyone will ever pay the bill and they might actually be correct. Dunno. Not all boomers of course, but from a certain distance they’re actually the Free Shit Army.

These aren’t heroes. They suck up more drugs and money than any other generation, and pat themselves on the back for doing so.

  38. Ohh, I’d never heard of that, how horrible, Leon. Our playgrounds are open. All parks, kid’s only wear masks if the parents are mental.

  39. I’ve got my speech ready about my deviated septum if it every comes up, but I don’t want to cause trouble for the businesses I still patronize, so it hasn’t come up. Curbside pick-up.

  40. Mare – we ended up shortening our trip because everyone was freaked out about Covid. We stayed with her 90 year old grandmother and the hassle from her family was enough to keep us from seeing tons of friends. Some of them didn’t want to see us anyway. Wanted a test first, etc. Fuck that.

When we actually thought about it, it was important to spend time with grandma, not do other stuff. I’m ok with that and it made the trip shorter.

Great. We’ll just come back sooner.

  41. There were other things that happened as well, but I’ll email you rather than putting it on this POS blog.

  42. MJ, if you don’t get a response (I mentioned this yesterday) my stupid email does not allow “relay” to your account. I am NOT ignoring you.

  43. FINE

  44. We know enough just based on that to know that there’s no reason to go, let alone blow money on a rental and boarding for a few months.

  45. I’ve mentioned this about 10 times, anyhoo, we traveled across the country twice and stayed with my husband’s 91 year old Mother. She is in good health and her immune system must be working fine (evidently) said she would rather see us and have the fun of it than worry about COVID and be alone.

  46. Getting old sucks, why add loneliness and isolation to it?

  47. Oh, and my daughter tested positive for COVID antibodies she lost her sense of smell for about 2 weeks. She was here visiting. I’m about 99% sure I had it. My “symptoms”? Highly unusual loose stool (TMI, I know) for about 2 weeks. No lifestyle change or problem just not the usual. This is usually a symptom of a virus settling into your gut for awhile.

This is a gross comment. Enjoy.

  48. mare, don’t know if this will help, but the relay message is because the outgoing server in your email settings (computer, or phone, whatever) is messed up. it can’t send.

  49. Old people are a drain on state resources. They gotta go.

That’s what Cuomo and Whitmer seem to think, anyhow.

  50. 2 Mare 1 Cup

  51. That matches my experience, Mare.

  52. Question. If I had the virus and take a test for COVID to travel, let’s say to Hawaii which has mandatory testing, will I test positive because I have the antibodies?

I know the tests are garbage but I’m wondering what you turds think.

  53. I didn’t know Ezekial Emmanuel was a hostage

  54. I figured loose stool was eating too much salad, or too much meat, or too much *insert choice here.

Maybe it’s Covid. Everything else is, why not?

  55. Thank you, Jay. I comment/use email on about 4 devises. The particular one giving me trouble just sent out. Can’t explain the on again off again but I’m reading your link.

  56. I read that url as “iphonefag”.

  57. Too much meat almost never leads to loose stool. It’s almost always too much salt when it looks like that’s the case, unless the meat had gone off.

  58. Jay, when I say “highly unusual” that’s the truth. I couldn’t explain it and then the light went on when my daughter told be about her tests and loss of sense of smell.

And a day or two of my symptom is one thing. Maybe something wonky I ate. But about 2 weeks of it. Don’t think so.

TMI comments are the best comments.

  59. Pretty sure the test looks for

    a) the virus
    b) traces of the dead virus
    3) things that resemble the virus
    g) all of the above

  60. I had all the respiratory symptoms, I just also had some intestinal distress. The latter isn’t a huge surprise, as my gut is already somewhat temperamental, so being sick almost always comes with that.

  61. I know you’re right, Scott, but there are a couple of tests. One for active virus and one for antibodies (or so I’ve been told by my daughter who has taken both).

I’m worried that I will get a false positive for the active virus when in fact I have the antibodies.

  62. They are still using the honor system, so I wouldn’t worry about it.

All of the states around here “require” a negative test or quarantine.

I have worked in NY, NJ, MA, RI, VT, and NH with no questions asked.

  63. It is not all bad news, guys. Apparently Ohio has added Ohio to its list of states with a travel advisory. So, if you are a resident of Ohio, you are violating Ohio law by just being there. Please get out as fast as possible. But for that you will need to travel. That would be illegal. Consider teleporting yourself out instead.

  64. Never before in my life have I been in such strong support of a civilization-ending nuclear war.

  65. Scott, Hawaii requires proof of a negative test within 72 hours of arriving. Dicey timing from here.

  66. And it has to be from an approved lab. They tell you which ones on the west coast. It’s a little murkier coming from here.

  67. It’s “required” here too, but there is no enforcement.

  68. Mare, antibodies tests and whether you have it currently are two different tests.

  69. antibody tests are blood tests from my understanding

  70. Consider teleporting yourself out instead.

My supplies of spice melange are too low for navigating, so this is a precarious prospect.

  71. also, my source on this is my brother is actually a business manager for a private testing company for covid and pretty much everything else out there
you gotta prick yer finger to test for antibodies

  72. nose swabs test for antigens that signal current virus infection

  73. It is not all bad news, guys. Apparently Ohio has added Ohio to its list of states with a travel advisory. So, if you are a resident of Ohio, you are violating Ohio law by just being there. Please get out as fast as possible. But for that you will need to travel. That would be illegal. Consider teleporting yourself out instead

This sounds like a Monty Python sketch

  74. Look what they’ve done to us.

  75. Pretty sure the only way this ends is bloodily, at this point. The last time they pulled this shit was 1918, and they didn’t have anywhere near the control then that they have now. The ‘horse sense’ of the typical American was better refined then, too. Now you’ve got Aching Chasm Backhole guy threatening a woman in Michael’s and no one does what’s necessary.

  76. At least, by comparison, the rest of my day will be amazing.

    ahahahaha suck it!

  77. People are being prevented from effectively organizing a resistance via social media, and no one’s going out to places where they might see physical handbills, not that the Karens would leave them up whenever they say them.

  89. Hacksaw Ridge is a pretty good movie so far.

The body count is John Wick level and it’s pretty gory which I don’t like that much.

3/4 rolls out of toilet paper agree

  90. Hacksaw Ridge is good.

Based on a true story, so the gore is probably understated, if anything.

Mare, antibodies tests and whether you have it currently are two different tests.

    ——-

I mentioned that earlier, that my daughter had both tests. I was wondering about cross over.

  96. I’m embarrassed that so many of my fellow Americans think masks will prevent anything.

  97. Reverse the genders for a different take

I’d have nailed her at 14. I’d be warped and twisted for life, but there’s no way I’d have turned her down at that age. She took advantage of that and deserves every bit of punishment a man would for the same act with any 14 yo, boy or girl. This was predation, plain and simple.

  98. Ok that was great.

    4/4 stars

  99. We had a patient test positive for it several months after he had been hospitalized and recovered from a confirmed case. He had no symptoms. This is supposedly caused by people “shedding inactive viral particles” after having had the actual disease. They are healthy and noncontagious when this happens. Because of this phenomenon, we no longer re-test people who have already had covid.

  100. I want Hotspur to tell us about more of his get togethers with his stupid friends. It makes me laugh hearing about their stupid theories on how not to get covid.

  101. I think it’s fair to say, you can live your life safely or you can live your life and enjoy it.

    I don’t see a lot of overlap.

I think of Carin who derives a lot of joy from concerts. No concerts now and they are considering allowing only vaccinated people into the venue. Uffffffffff.

I often wonder if Hawaii will make vaccination mandatory. It would break my heart. I doubt it’s constitutional but no one seems to care about that anymore.

  102. Pat often comes home and asks me what’s wrong. LIFE. That’s what’s wrong. We shouldn’t be living like this.

It weighs on me and depresses the heck out of me. I want to go to concerts again. I want to plan shit. Run in races and have all you guys laugh at me for how stupid it is that I pay to do that shit.

    I want (my) life back.

    ====

They help prevent police from identifying robbers.

Remember when a bunch of malls prohibited Hoodies because the thugs would wear them in then smash and grab stuff? Now they are making the thugs wear masks. Anybody see irony here?

  104. Masks also prevent people from having any sort of normal interaction with others while out in public. I could be smiling. I could be chewing food. You don’t know what’s going on behind her.

  107. Like, I’m an introvert. I don’t spend a lot of time with people ordinarily. Church, shopping, farmer’s market, parks with daughter.

It’s all gone, and I miss it. If I’m missing it, then the average person is being tortured beyond the point of sanity. Beckoning Chasm Backhole Guy might not always have been a fucking asshole, everyone breaks differently under pressure.

  134. Pretty sure I got it from the Church pre-school back in Feb before I could even have been tested, and if I got it there and then, my whole parish has already had it, which makes the stupidity at Mass extra ridiculous.

  135. Although, I’m not sure it’s really Mass. I mean, words are being said that sound like mass, and the celebrant is doing the rite, but the participants are socially distanced, masked, and I don”t even think they are singing. Nothing says “our savior lives and has conquered death!” like treating everyone around you like a live grenade.

  139. You know what I mean. I wonder if anyone but the priest will be drinking from the chalice. 140. Blood of Christ

  141. It most certainly isn’t shit, in any event.

  142. Don’t misunderstand me, I get transubstantiation, and I fully believe in the doctrine. Moreso than a lot of pew sitters, based on surveys. That’s also why I almost never take Communion even when I can go to mass. I also know that not everyone reading here will know what I mean if I say anything but “wine at mass”.

  143. I stopped drinking from the chalice when the old dude in front of me was coughing up a lung and spitting the phlegm the enrire Mass and then drank from it.
    Nope. Hard pass

  144. That’s your call, and even when it was offered I refrained from the chalice when I had even the slightest tickle in my throat. But without it, mass is going to be weird. Not as weird as mass without faces, but weird. And I don’t know if that’s ever going to go away in most parishes, given how little courage we’ve seen thus far.

  162. Hey… uh…. thanks for the well wishes? I guess?

  163. I’m sorry
    who are you?

  164. Catholics been superspreaders for centuries

  165. You tested positive for Corona.

    Shocking.

  166. >>> You tested positive for Corona.

kinda surprised it took this long. I would have figured I would have been Patient Zero.

  167. OMG IT’S A CORONAvirus.

  168. Douchebag station manager has made numerous comments about this is my fault and how inconvenient this is for him. He wants me to do the show from home starting Monday. Because having a plan b when something like this happens would be asking to much, I guess.

And because the station runs on paper clips and coat hangers, it’s going to sound like shit. With our “new” phone system, if two people are on the phone at once (and I would be one) neither of them can hear each other.

So this oughta make for a very professional sounding show. 🙄

  169. Just play two hours of Barry Manilow Christmas music. Best show ever.

  170. I sad “we’ve been trying this all year and it always sounds terrible!

“Oh all of the show from home have sounded horrible.”

“THEN WHY THE FUCK ARE WE DOING IT?!?”

“What else are we going to do?”

Well, if only someone were in a position to prepare for situations like this. Think ahead. Yannow, manage the process and shit.

I wonder if there’s a name or title for someone like that?

  171. I say he clears the studio and you bring your fetid ass to the studio and do teh show from there
    what could go wrong?

  172. “Hey, sorry that despite all of your best efforts and all of your adhering to the mandates and protocols, you somehow still caught this virus. Seriously, hope you recover soon.

Meanwhile, just so you know, this is reeeeeeeally inconvenient for me and if you had only listened to… well… you did, but you know…. still your fault and I’m gonna need you to ignore your own health because, what else am I gonna do?”

BTW, his wife was so distraught that they couldn’t celebrate their daughter’s 37th birthday together this past spring (she lives in FL, which was considered a hot spot and the governor had implemented travel restrictions) he completely ignored those restrictions to get her into the state, because, yannow, 37th birthday. Kind of a milestone birthday.

And fuck any risk he may have put the rest of us at because that was just sooooooo important.

How do I always end up working for flaming douchenozzles?

    Didn’t you already do that?

  174. he sounds like a peach

  175. welp, the good spin on you having corona is that you’ll have more time to spend with us
Sounds like a win to me!!

  176. In fact, I’d almost consider your ability to spend more time with us
    a blessing
    for you
sort of an early Christmas gift
    lucky lucky man

  177. >>> he sounds like a peach

I just thought I was tired after a long weekend on Monday. But I powered through. I felt much better Monday night, and figured if I got a goo night’s sleep I’d be fine on Tuesday.

Woke up Tuesday and realized that I wasn’t fine. Immediately texted him saying that I think it’s bad idea that I come in and that I was going to get tested.

    7:30am. Show starts at 10.

His response: “I wish you told me sooner. We’re really gonna have to scramble now.”

    *blink* *blink blink*

“Hey, thanks. No, seriously, I really appreciate your concern. I hope I get better soon as well and hopefully it’s only a cold.”

    Palms 16:4:02:hike

  179. Lutherans are rich, we get our own cup. Catholics been superspreaders for centuries

Unsurprisingly, this has not borne out in actual fact. Priests (who drink first AND last from the chalice) don’t suffer from infectious disease at unusually high rates for their age demographics. The cups being silver (and filled with the Blood of Christ) likely helps.

  180. Sorry you caught it, Wiser. If it follows the progression mine did, the phone connection isn’t going to be the issue before long. It’ll be the dry cough and walking pneumonia.

  181. >>>> The cups being silver (and filled with the Blood of Christ) likely helps.

This strikes me as a rather interesting dichotomy.

The drinking of blood: possible vampire
Silver chalice: silver is a bane to vampires, right?

    Or is that werewolves?

    So many rules….

  182. Palms 16:4:02:hike

Did you just face palm me Richard?

  183. >>> It’ll be the dry cough and walking pneumonia.

Very little congestion at this point. And I can still smell & taste.

And I spend every winter with a cough and nasal congestion, so no change?

  184. >>> Did you just face palm me Richard?

Sorry. Wrong book? I’m working from the KJV.

  185. Silver hurts werewolves because it’s pure and they are tainted by being given over to bestial passions. Goes back to the earlier form of the myth where werewolves were evil men who were empowered to be wolves by the demonic, rather than hapless souls cursed by a bite.

Vampires drink ONLY the blood of men, not God, and it grants them immortality as earthbound monsters who only delay their passage to Hell, and can never enter Heaven. Everything about the vampire as Bram Stoker conceived it was a deliberate, theological inversion. Blood drinking as an antisacrament that granted a mockery of life, indulgence of vice creating more like themselves with a blood ritual to stain rather than a water ritual to cleanse, etc.

John C. Wright has a good long essay about this.

  186. Very little congestion at this point. And I can still smell & taste.

I hope it stays mild for you. Mine seemed really bad, as bad as the worst hay fever I’d had in bad tree pollen years. I’ve heard that there’s some correlation to blood type and severity, and mine (A+) is supposedly the worst. Not sure I put much stock in that, but I was pretty miserable for a couple of weeks.

  187. I’m working from the KJV.

    Yeah, fucking Protestant

  188. >>> John C. Wright has a good long essay about this.

And exactly what section of the book store should I search for this? Religion? SciFi? Horror? Fiction?

Seems like there’s a whole lot of analysis available here.
