This one is only 2 years older than Rebecca.

    Yikes.

  2. Comment by Jimbro on July 24, 2020 6:11 am

Most of these “models” entered the young-enough-to-be-my-daughter territory around the early 90’s.

My realization of that fact has only become apparent in the last decade though!

  3. Comment by Car in on July 24, 2020 6:45 am

Younger than Hannah. A bit older than Erin, but not by much.

We’re all getting older so they will continue to look younger. In some poses, her hip/thigh gap looks weird. I’m just being picky.

  6. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 7:34 am

“She’s” Thai, so that’s probably a side effect of a tucked wang.

  7. Comment by Jimbro on July 24, 2020 7:39 am

    “Weird” like, she’s-a-he weird?

I like the pictures where “she” is playing chess and wearing nerd glasses so “she” can pretend to be smart too

  8. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 7:40 am

’99 was the year of my college graduation and first wedding, so she’s definitely in the plausible-daughter age range for me, too.

  9. Comment by Jimbro on July 24, 2020 7:41 am

    Ha! Leon got there first.

Just kidding, pretty sure we’d see a wang in those outfits. Although I may return to doubting the number of X chromosomes if MJ gives more than a 9 on the Smash Scale

Lib co-worker is outraged over paying $300 for a Chyna virus test and wants Medicare for all. I didn’t pay anything for mine, not even a co-pay. I know it’s not really free, but I can only guess the difference is doctor’s orders vs. wanting to travel and not be quarantined for 2 weeks.

  19. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 9:40 am

holy shit, Covid tests are $300?????????

  20. Comment by Jay in Ames on July 24, 2020 9:42 am

My test was free too. Had to schedule through the state, and drive to their mobile lab. That’s the one the feds are paying for, I imagine.

  21. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 9:44 am

I want to travel but $600 for covid tests is bullshit. As is everything.

  22. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 10:04 am

I just read through our (former) school’s “Back to School” plan. It’s absolute madness. Masking all day, every day, for PreK-8th grade. Social distancing 100% of the school day, and they are asking for volunteers to help build plexiglass partitions for all the 2-person desks.

Nothing like this is being done in any other country, and it’s fucking torture to do it to a 5yo. I hope they go bankrupt.

  23. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 10:05 am

The media has really done a number on citizens (those that watch network news). They are really afraid.

I saw an Instagram TV of the comedian Sebastian Maniscalco and he and his wife have basically not left their neighborhood for 3 and a half months and cannot believe their friends are traveling. Then reading the comments was depressing because the majority of people were saying they are doing the right thing staying home. I saw one lady who said, “stop watching the news, live your life.” Brava.

  24. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 10:07 am

I am saddened that America has such shit citizens. Irrational. Non critical thinkers. Sheep like. Care less about rights.

    Eff em.

The teacher’s Unions are garbage and care about your kids like I care about Hillary’s colon.

  26. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 10:10 am

Oh, and they want you to do a daily health assessment with a free(!) tracking application before the kid comes to school.

I’m sorry I wasted two days of my life helping them build the fucking playground. Yes, wasted, because no one gets to play on it because these people have become Branch Covidians rather than Catholics.

Bishop’s dispensation from mass runs through 8-15 at the moment. No idea what happens after that.

  27. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 10:11 am

Leon, did you link a pic of that playground? If so was it on the last thread?

  28. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 10:12 am

Mare, this is my daughter’s Catholic school. We chose the parish for the school. These aren’t union teachers, they get nothing if people don’t send their kids there.

I don’t even know how bad they will have it in the public school.

  29. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 10:14 am

No, I never took any pictures. It’s just modern art now, though.

  30. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 10:14 am

OFFS, very sorry about your daughter’s school being run by dipshits, Leon. I know, I’ve been there.

  31. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 10:18 am

They assert without evidence that letting kids without symptoms anywhere near each other will kill grandma. No end date for this, not even end conditions.

    I hope enrollment drops 75%.

  32. Comment by Hotspur on July 24, 2020 10:18 am

Our lefty friends (the ones we’re close to but have a “no politics” rule with)are having us over for burgers tomorrow night. We went a couple of weeks ago, and the gathering was strictly outside, one friend even brought her own plate and silverware in a ziplock bag, drinks were handed out with a Clorox wipe instead of a napkin.

I can’t participate in this kind of insanity, so I’m not going. HotBride understands, and will cover for me. One of these days I’ll just say “Fuck it, you guys are cuckoo.”

  37. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 10:33 am

The only reason we came together as a union after the civil war was the honoring of the defeated. Without that, yes, it’s over. Prepare for brutal tribalism and violence on a scale scarcely imaginable while we separate.

Something that calls itself the USA will celebrate the tricentennial in 56 years. It won’t be a country any of us recognizes.

If you don’t watch the news (like my husband and myself) you don’t know anything is wrong:

No people dropping in the street.
No coughing, sneezing, in general public.
    No lines for hospital care.
Don’t know anyone who had died from it.
We think we know a couple of people who had it but symptoms were flu like and short lived.

My husband talks to people around the country every day for business and his friends from college are also, literally, across the country. No one he’s talked to has had it, knows anyone who’s had it, or knows anyone who has died from it. They’ve HEARD of people but don’t know any.

  42. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 10:39 am

My brother (Seattle/Sun Valley…two hot spots for COVID) says he knows of 3 people who died from it.

I asked him, how old? And how healthy? He said two were over 75 and one sickly for a long time. I’m guessing they died from something else, listed as COVID.

  43. Comment by MJ on July 24, 2020 10:40 am

At this point Covid is 100% political. It either furthers your political goals or doesn’t.

About 50% of people seem to get it, the rest are pawns.

  45. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 24, 2020 10:43 am

If the government can mandate masks, it can mandate buttplugs with rectal thermometers that track you 24/7. For health. It can mandate 10k steps/day unless you have a medical dispensation, tracked by your government-issued pedometer. For health. It can mandate your consumption of cruciferous vegetables, to be monitored by transaction tracking at the grocery store and fecal sampling though your buttplug sensor. For health.

  46. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 10:43 am

I AM NOT SAYING IT’S FAKE. The virus exists.

All I’m saying is the media has blown it out of proportion for political reasons and it’s not as deadly as projected.

Also, let our immune systems work and let us move on with our lives. Those who are vulnerable should wear a suitable mask, stay home, social distance and order food in.

  47. Comment by mare on July 24, 2020 10:45 am

Regardless of my personality here, *cough* I’m a very happy, positive, smiley person. Always have been. It’s against my nature to be sullen or depressed, certainly not for long. This whole thing has been awful.

It’s not healthy for the population to be separated from the things they like to do and places they like to go to. I’m not particularly social, I wish I was, but people who are are getting hit hard. My MIL for example.

I think the reward of living our lives as we normally would is worth the “risk.”

I am saddened that America has such shit citizens. Irrational. Non critical thinkers. Sheep like.

Mr. B. gets most of his news from yahoo and NPR. And he’s very contrary. I say ‘black’, he has to counter with ‘white’.
I was saying this morning that if teachers won’t go back to school, then I want a refund of our taxes – the vast majority of which go to schools. Don’t go back to school…then why are we paying for bloated administrators/teachers/assorted ‘aides’, salaries, not to the mention the upkeep of brick and mortars? He’s telling me that you can’t blame the teachers for being afeared for their lives and wanting to stay safe. They aren’t getting proper data and don’t know where to go to find it or how…etc etc etc.

    1. they are supposed to be ‘educated’. The educated seek. I have sought and I have found various sources telling me we have much improved treatments and that some work fantastically if started early….but our media and pols don’t want it to get out because scared people are easy to manipulate. Also…look to Yerp and asian countries WHO ARE SENDING THEIR FUCKING KIDS TO SCHOOL with zero dire consequences. Wtf.

    2. They are as essential as less educated people going to work everyday to put food on the fucking shelves for their sorry asses, who expect that food to be put on the shelves by people who are exposed to hundreds of strangers every damn day. ….whereas, for them, they will be exposed to a fixed number of low risk of spread kids.

    3. Educated people use their brain matter to come up with ways to do their jobs safely. Stay 6 ft from your students…put up a partition around your podium…teach your f*cking kids how to wash their hands and not pick other people’s noses.

  73. Comment by Hotspur on July 24, 2020 11:37 am

Only the screening is new. It used to be just a covered side porch off of the sunroom. A couple weeks ago I was sitting out there of an evening having a cigar, but was getting eaten alive by mosquitos. Then I looked around and thought, all I need is some cedar framing and insect screen, and those little bloodsucking democrats can go fuck themselves.

    4. As educated people, they should be pushing back against misinformation and politics instead of acting like f*cking sheep. Look at the good data and push it forward for it’s implementation. If the FDA and guys like Fauci have conflicts of interests – which they do, call them out LOUDLY.

I’m spitting mad and can’t imagine what I’d be if my kids were still school age. My county voted for schools to reopen with exceptions made for Karens.

Here is one of our state senators at a county council meeting. Pretty sure him speaking helped the county say yes to opening schools. Medical doctor – allergy, respiratory illness, immunology, does clinical research….studied various plagues, Spanish flu, intently. He was an expert witness in a case against Cuomo and DeBlasio, (to do with the virus I believe) and won. Nice, educated, mild mannered…says, as a society, it’s unprecedented how we’re dealing with covid… we’re doing it wrong.

Or I could just let that bird experience life on the outside and keep the other 5 happy as best I’m able.

Our schools will all be online. There’s no way you can have one teacher per grade as the teachers still have to grade everyone’s papers. That’s like 1,000 kids per grade level. The classes are done by zoom and they’d be next to impossible to have any kind of class.
We start out online and and then gradually move to two days a week and then more and more….provided our governor doesn’t continue being an a-hole

He told her she could curbside if she was that afraid. She screamed that she was going to shop at Costco. We all started laughing. That pissed her off even more. 5-year-old First child to die from Coronavirus in Dallas County

Then the first sentence in the article gives the true story:

A 5-year-old boy from Dallas is among the latest victims to die from COVID-19 in North Texas. He had been critically ill at a local hospital and had underlying health conditions, officials said.

Then, the asshole Dallas County judge has to do his fear-mongering schtick:

“Sadly today we announced the death of a 5-year-old child from #COVID19. This is our first pre-teen death here in Dallas County. I want to point out to the public that we have seen a sharp uptick in children getting #COVID19,” Judge Clay Jenkins tweeted.

These people are getting on my last nerve.

Replaced that with some doorbell wire. It’s incredibly dangerous, but that video is one of the highest points in my life.

I’ve been thinking of trying to get skilled enough to offer small farms a surveillance package based on that same thought, Troy. The typical small farm in the US can only thrive in a high trust culture with respect for property rights. That goes out the window in a time of high civil unrest, and while sufficient physical security is likely too high a price point (and would make your land look like a prison yard), a set of cameras and proximity alarms is likely available for a reasonable cost.

They make sensors you can bury that detect large items like cars. Those have to be hard wired, though, at least the last time I checked. Current dog doesn’t bark at people, just coyotes and livestock in the yard. Surveillance cameras would be good too. Most people set up a few game cameras.
