Guess where the clip is from!

The news of the week has me in a mood.

Are you ready for Easter?

  1. Some of those death poses were obviously theatrical. Security guard leaning on the ping pong table comes to mind.

  2. Crooked bitch is jealous of other panicking D Governors.
    —–
It really is a race to see who can be the most extreme

  3. I didn’t know The Stand was a miniseries or movie. I read the book as a teen and it kind of turned me off to the post-apocalyptic genre.

  4. WFW

    Winter Fcuking Wonderland today

  5. I read the book at some point but don’t remember it much. Must have been during med school or residency when I was focused on other stuff. Watching that video made me want to give it another read.

  6. posters right, it’s a miniseries. Captain Trips!

  7. Good morning, everyone.

My prayer for today will be that anyone who has a vote will not pass ANY funding if it’s full of pork that will inevitably screw us over.

  9. The “instant death” thing in the lab was contrived for TV. It took weeks in the book. The superflu only got out because one gate guard saw the lockdown coming and ran before they could wall him in. The other landmasses were infected deliberately so the US wouldn’t be the only one to suffer.

  10. I sort of like the idea of putting a gun to America’s head during a full blown panic.

Remind me again how Pelosi is a master tactician or whatever.

If it walks like a Yeltsin and talks like a Kennedy, it’s probably a Pelosi.

  11. If you decide to read it again, try to find the short version. King claims the first edit was a hatchet job.

The editor was a skilled surgeon. King’s a hack who needed help by then in his writing career to reel him in, and he was famous and rich enough that he started refusing it.

  12. Yeah, completely agree. I enjoyed The Shining and his book of short stories (Graveyard Shift?). I don’t remember which version of The Stand I read, probably original version given the timing. I tried reading some of his more recent novels but found my mind wandering as I tried to flip the pages.

  13. The Stand was creepy as hell. Read it as a teen. I have the unedited version around here somewhere. He needed that editor.

  14. *adds “cuntmuffin” to repertoire*

Autocucumber changes cuntmuffin to CUNY muffin because NY colleges are known for their tasty muffins

  15. Speaking of muffins, I keep thinking I’d like to make a tasty yet healthy muffin but I get distracted before I actually do the recipe search

  16. A lot of the extra bulk was Trash Can Man and ‘The Kid’ iirc. If you remember the latter character, you likely read the “extended version”.

  17. Chicken Cat on the grill is a little disturbing to look at. Probably not in China though

  18. It was Night Shift.

I read that in the woods on a backpacking trip.

    A very bad idea.

  19. It’s a spatchcocked cornish hen.

  20. Fat people running!

    Spring is here.

  21. I feel judged.

  22. That chicken cat triggered me.

HAHAHAHA, stupid people who are triggered.

It doesn’t really answer the question, just raises it. I wonder in 100 years when they are writing about the Kong Flu they will mention events and gatherings such as this as a cause for contagion. Sort of like the Spanish Flu spread in St. Louis vs Philadelphia

  24. Italy looks like it may have peaked and it leveling off.

  25. In 100 years, we’ll all be in villages of 100-300 again and any large gathering will be virtual, as will most travel. The only real things moving between villages will be robots and the occasional human for marriage, which by then will only be done for children’s sake, as will any actual sex, since sexbots and AI companions will have eliminated the demand for recreational futonizing.

  26. Pretty sure their % in critical has gone down. It was 8% (i’m almost positive) and it’s 6% now.

They’ve eliminated the % in critical for US. Knowledge is bad.

  27. Pretty bleak.

Here’s what will really happen – we’ll forget this ever happened and when we do it will be only to remember how easy it is to forget.

I’m still hoping for sex robots though.

  28. Remember when people argued that you shouldn’t close down the gay bathouses in San Fran to stop the spread of AIDS because because it was homophobic?

  29. Oh, this won’t be the reason for the elimination of cities. That comes later when the real bioterror plagues are deployed in the 2050’s and 2060’s. I expect to lose half the population, mostly in cities, and the survivors will see the concentration of humanity as an unnecessary risk in light of the automation available.

  30. Remember when people argued that you shouldn’t close down the gay bathouses in San Fran to stop the spread of AIDS because because it was homophobic?

And it would be immoral to quarantine them, too.

  31. It was wrong to ask them to put a raincoat on their jimmy.

  32. No one has told me whether this virus is more deadly than others.
(We didn’t test whole populations with other viruses either)

It appears a majority of people can have/transmit the virus without symptoms. Like other viruses.

I fully admit, I’m confused and don’t understand the actions taken with regard to this virus.

  33. On the low end, the regular flu has killed 23,000 so far this year. From the CDC. That’s the LOW estimate.

  34. Sorry, that’s “this season” – not this year.

  35. The only real things moving between villages will be robots and the occasional human for marriage, which by then will only be done for children’s sake, as will any actual sex, since sexbots and AI companions will have eliminated the demand for recreational futonizing.

Why would you need marriage? Artificial insemination will rule. AI will conduct careful genetic analysis and find the most compatible match (based on a flawed algorithm) and send you a sample from your appointed sperm donor.

  36. New rules at some NYC hospitals during COVID-19 crisis
As some New York City hospitals are getting overrun with COVID-19 patients, they are now instituting strict rules that deny both birth parents inside the delivery room.

    ****

I’m thinking that at least one of the birth parents have to be in the room. I mean, specifically the one giving birth.

  37. Alex and Leon are going down the rabbit hole.

  38. I’m thinking that at least one of the birth parents have to be in the room. I mean, specifically the one giving birth.

In today’s nuthouse society that can be either one of them.

  39. You guys have seen Gattica and read Brave New World way too much.

If the world was anything like the US perhaps this could be a future.

But most of the world is a shithole. They lack toilets, not robots.

  40. And in 50 years they will still lack toilets.

  41. Lifespans will be doubled, but fertility will not. Under-80s will live in agrarian communities, while everyone over 80 will live in cities. The women will form matriarchal clans while the men are sent off to fight in endless wars against the savages which make up the wastelands of the rest of the world.

  42. Why would you need marriage? Artificial insemination will rule. AI will conduct careful genetic analysis and find the most compatible match (based on a flawed algorithm) and send you a sample from your appointed sperm donor.

Oh, that’s expected. I was simply mentioning the only time humans would actually travel would be for something like marriage, and even then you’d have to go through extensive testing to enter the other village.

  43. I agree that if you’re going to read “The Stand”, read the shorter, original edition. I remember there was something about Trashcan Man in the longer version that was an “Oooh, that makes sense now” moment, but on the whole, it wasn’t worth it.

I’ve read it four times and caught a cold every time.

  44. I’m thinking they should cancel all flights out of LaGuardia, JFK, and Newark until NYC gets their shit together.

  45. One of the NASA guys was tested yesterday. Fatigue, fever, dry cough. We were put on mandatory telework back on the 13th, so either he has been out and about or this takes a lot longer to kick in than I thought. I don’t work with him, but we are in the same Faceplant group. Results tomorrow or Thursday.

I still think the Italians brought it here in late January.

  46. One of the docs on Tucker said 11 days to show symptoms

  47. That is probably the average, CDC says 2-14 days.

  48. According to a study by Umass

“97.5% of people who develop symptoms will do so within 11.5 days of infection.”

    stupid CDC

  49. HA. Cuomo must have read my comment.

  50. so Cuomo is giving daily updates now, and everyone calls him a genius. Trump has been doing it all along, and he’s an idiot.

  51. NYC is gross. I could never live there.

I helped a girl move into an apartment in Manhattan. She had a tiny little bedroom and shared a bathroom and kitchen with 4 strangers.

  52. NYC is fun to visit for a long weekend, but I’d go nuts if I had to live there.

  53. Her bedroom door lock was an eye hook latch.

  54. 22LR or 9mm for my panic rifle?

    Discuss.

  55. 9mm.

  56. 22LR is my preference.

Might be a little late for shopping, though, and good luck finding ammo.

  57. Either will do the job. A 9mm carbine will have a bit more punch, but you won’t be hunting rabbits or squirrels with it.

  58. Oh, and NASA guy said the swab procedure was extremely unpleasant. Through the nose and into the sinuses. He said he asked the tech if they found brain tissue.

  59. I can shoot subsonics in my yard without worry.

    9mm would bring the police.

  60. Someone please please explain to me how moslems with English as a second language get TS clearances.

  61. In fact, forget the moslem part, the ESL makes no fucking sense.

  62. If its primarily for defense go with the 9mm. Actually if I were shopping today I’d go with a 9mm carbine and a medium grade air rifle.

  63. I was going to go with a 9mm carbine cuz I have a lot of 9mm ammo and I like my glock. This makes life simple.

  64. Is Biden on TV again today. I love that show.

  65. In 500 years, everywhere will be Afghanistan.

  66. It was wrong to ask them to put a raincoat on their jimmy.

And it is no longer a felony in CA to infect one of your many partners…so if their drugs keep their viral load low, they continue to bareback. They don’t give a f*ck because poking anything that moves is the most important thing in their life or their identity.
They don’t talk much about that in public, but in gay chatrooms, pisses a lot of them off. (when gaypatriot was still a blog, they’d talk about it and link the convos).

  67. I’m beating up a stupid bitch I used to work with. She started in with the “Trump grabbing pussies” so I … just had fun with it.

  68. I feel bad, because she’s stupid. But not that bad.

  69. Went shopping for MIL this morning. Still shortages on paper and Tylenol but it’s looking like things are slowly starting to fill back up. Walmart has instituted a one per person on those hoardy items and that seems to have helped some.
TP was on MIL’s list and when I went over to Aldis for a couple of her items, I got there 30 min early because I forgot they opened at 9. I was #15 in line and was able to score a pack of 30 rolls from the only pallet they had. We’re set and I feel better about being prepared for when the kids need help or my sister who is having a hard time getting staples, needs some.
Found a 10 ct of Tylenol at Walgreens. Yeesh.

  70. What does Trump grabbing pussies offered up to him on a silver platter by wallet chasers, have to do with Lung Pao Sicken?

  71. Is this girl upset because Trump wouldn’t grab hers with a ten foot pole? Or she’s kinky and wants the rapey thing Clinton doles out?

  72. Amateur.

You’re supposed to grab women like a bowling ball.

  73. Two in the…

    I’ve said too much

  74. It’s supposed to indicate what a horrible person he is. @@

  75. Starf*ckers who throw their hoohaas at rich guys are pretty horrible, IMO.

  76. You guys have fast fingers. That guy is looking at MJ’s remark.

  77. So if he’s horrible…I’ve not seen any women come forward to accuse him of grabbing them other than the sleazy stripper who said ‘it’ never happened….what does she think of Clenis and his victim-threatening sidekick bish?

  78. Talking about hobag women who throw themselves at you: horrible
Blowing baby batter on an intern young enough to be your kid: fine

  79. but, they aren’t referring to him just talking about women. They are convinced that he physically grabs women in their crotch. You can’t argue with that.

  80. It can’t really argue with stupid, but it’s fun to occasionally throw a few jabs at them.

  81. She accused me of getting all my information from shifty blogs, so I sent her a picture of a few of the books that have educated me.

    She hasn’t been back since.

  82. Someone in the main building where Paul works tested positive for CV.

Everyone on the project he is working on has been deemed “essential” by people in the Federal Government, so he’s hosed.

  83. THERE’S ONE (1) CASE OF CORONAVIRUS IN TRANSYLVANIA COUNTY!!!!!!!

    Dad’s Hair-on-Fire status: I told you so!!!!! 😷🚑🚨⚠🚩🔥

  84. Pretty sure vampirism is a sure preventative to Winnie the Flu. Call the county office and see if the Count is taking on interns.

  85. I did not know lemon extract went bad. Well, I know now.

    Amen. Comedy gold.

  87. All oils eventually go rancid, Mare. Calm down.

  88. extract? what is natural about it? I have years old extracts.

  89. sorry TiFW! that’s gotta be hard

  90. Paula heard there was the first positive in our county today and she wondered where/who since her hospital is the only one in the county. Annnnnd it was a nurse from her hospital. Not in her department but close enough.

    You guys have fast fingers.

    *cough*

  92. Oh wow, did you hear that Pelosi had just returned from recess to nix the deal, while the Senate had cancelled their recess to figure this out. Including Dems in Senate.

  93. DJIA up 2100.

  94. I don’t want any bill passed if it’s full of corporate diversity quotas, carbon emission garbage, planned parenthood funding, or any bullshit like that.

So I don’t know what Pelosi didn’t pass but I heard that stuff was in one of the spending bills.

  95. I’ve got a piece of paper that says I am required to travel for critical infrastructure.

Also the county just ordered me to shelter in place starting Thursday.

  96. your travel card trumps your shelter in place card. You are the designated grocery getter.

  97. Pupster, I need someone to run a load of Coors down to Georgia.

  98. We have our “Papers” to go to and from work. Have to show our nametags. NM still haven’t figured out how to “Social Distance”. We have a bunch of recent cop academy grads in our Club. In our parking lot. Business has been great. So has shoplifting. We’re still only allowing a few people at a time in to shop. We’re doing the Senior early shop on Thursday. Seniors have to show ID and can’t be shopping with anyone else.

  99. What are Bibles going for on the black market?

  100. People are buying children’s books and STEM games. Not much bible theft, so far. I’ll find out next audit.

  101. I’ll get my Santa Maria de Concepcion toaster out of storage, and we’ll sell miracle toast to protect buyers from La Corona.

  102. Greta Thunberg says she had coronavirus.

    More like attention hound.

  103. We can expect stronger and more frequent viruses due to global warming.

  104. Happy birthday to Sean! And Michael.

Happy birthday to Sean! And Michael.

    —–

I’m not falling for that trap.

  108. Don’t click the widget link!

  109. This CV is awful-sounding – 42-year -old man describes what he has been experiencing so far:

    https://tinyurl.com/uo6zoow

  110. TiFW, I’ve been watching those. Type I describing his first symptoms as the worst migraines ever.

  111. Annoyed his wife didn’t get it?

    I didn’t believe a word after that.

  112. He sounds like he has the man version of Corona.

  113. He’s “relatively” healthy.

  114. What’s Hotspur been up to? He’s been awfully quiet.

  115. Don’t you think it’s weird how no babies or young children get CoVid-19?
We’d be hearing about that 24/7 if it was.

  116. He sounds like he has the man version of Corona.

Given the demographics, men may actually have a much worse go of it.

If we had it in my house, it was much worse for me than my wife. I was basically bedridden for 2 days and slept most of it.

  117. Anita was down to Puyallup today for a stress test with radio-isotope and a ride on the Gamma-Camera at Good Samaritan Hospital.
The lower level of the parking garage is filled with huge, long tents, plastic boxes full of something, and gurneys. Many gurneys.
It looks like they are getting prepared to triage *MANY* people, without letting them inside the hospital.

  118. back to dramatic Tucker. China will be the #1 economy after coronavirus

  119. Yea, I wondered what that relatively meant. Sounds like a “but” to me.

  120. It means he can run pretty fast for a guy with a bunch of health problems.

Annoyed his wife didn’t get it?
    I didn’t believe a word after that.

I think that was early on, before things got bad; it was probably more of the “joking” that most of us do when we get a cold. I seriously doubt as things got worse that he felt that way.

  122. You may be right, but the wording made me hate him right off the bat.

  123. Yeah, I’m thinking that walking around with a “fractured” ankle for two weeks and only going to the hospital at that point had to have wreaked havoc with his immune system to the point that he was quite susceptible to this virus.

It sounded like that happened right before he got COVID.

His body was probably focused on trying to heal that injury, which meant that any germs would have been able to infect him.

  124. Comment by scott on March 24, 2020 8:22 pm
You may be right, but the wording made me hate him right off the bat.

That was more the fault of the person who wrote the article – going for the controversial to get eyes on their version of the story. Read in context, he is doing everything that he can as the disease progresses to keep his distance from his family.

His wife probably saved his life. He does seem to recognize that, at least.

  125. CA Gov closes gun stores, calling them non-essential.

Wonder what took him so long.

  126. Babies are getting it. Waiting for recovery news.

  127. The weatherman just called out my street for a tornado warning.

  128. I hope your street is 97 miles long and that you have a basement.

  129. Fuck. Senior hours are Tuesday and Thursday. I work Tuesdays.

  130. So you will have to shop on Thursday?

  131. Be careful, Roamy!

  132. so, if we don’t take the maximum action possible to quarantine, we’re gonna lose 20 million people?

And yes, I have a basement and am grateful for it. Still rumbly outside, but the worst has passed, I think.

  137. We wouldn’t lose 20M in a direct nuclear strike on NYC. That’s more than 5% of the total population. WTF is the math there?

  138. no math I’m sure. Modern Virology Theory.

  139. Glad you’re safe, Roamy.

  140. I scratched my balls for this?

  141. Definitely enjoying relative peace.
