I made a car in-style meatloaf for supper. I don’t care for the texture even though I finally chopped everything. Next time, I’ll puree the vegetables before sauteing/mixing them in. Other than that, pretty good.

Beasn, I puree mixed aromatic veggies for some mince recipes like salmon burgers. It works great but you will have to really saute the moisture out of it so the veggies get pretty dry. I guess you could wring the puree in a tea towel first to cut time, but I always reduce it on the stove as much as possible instead.
I’d go with the tea towel, cuts down on time.

Well, that was fun….. A heifer calved early this morning, with no problems. Everything was fine when I checked them at 6:00. When I went out at 7:30 to feed, another heifer had started to calve, then got confused and thought the first calf was hers. Aaaaarrrggh! We tried to separate her, but she went into full protective mom mode and tried to kill us anytime we got near. It took 30 stressful minutes to get them separated, and put her in a chute where we could see if she was actually calving. She was, so we pulled the calf and got them situated. Fortunately, she went right to the new baby and started licking it off. Silly heifers…….
So – she thought she’d already had the baby? lol. That’s kind of funny.

My husband liked it. The ‘not as firm’ didn’t bother me. The flavor was pretty good. Consider me the Princess and the Pea when it comes to the smoothness of the meat intermixed with the occasional slightly different texture of a veggie. Most of the vegetables softened up just fine.
I think the problem was the onion I used had super thin layers on one side, not as ‘meaty’, so harder to break down while cooking, to undetectable soft. And maybe the skin of the pepper. Should have started those sauteing first.
lauraw, I did saute them until almost all the liquid was gone. Put a lid on the pan, too, so the steam could do it’s thing. Just have to choose a better onion. I do like the idea of pureeing a bunch of aromatic veggies and freezing them, to use later in all sorts of dishes.
