In Michigan this has already happened. Folks got their nice storefronts all ready but the product is only available to what is basically “company stores”.
Better off buying up any housing you can before it gets turned into grow houses.
IME, that’s not how it works after the legalization. They get leases from the state for a “grow” in a community that doesn’t raise sufficient hell to keep them out, then they fence off a few acres and cultivate it just like soybeans, though under guard.

I live in a town infested with liberals. Ask any waiter, they mostly suck at tipping.
Case in point: the guy who cuts my hair also cuts Rick Snyder’s hair and Mark Schlissel’s.
He said Rick gives hip a $25 tip every time, Schlissel has never given him an extra penny.
So at the end of Snyder’s last term Schlissel asks him, “Are you going to keep cutting Snyder’s hair now that he isn’t governor?” To which Perry replied, “Yeah, as long as he keeps giving me $50 a pop I’ll be thrilled to keep him.”

My standard explanation is that you can thank Obama and Hillary for this. Obama was a disaster for the party, with over a thousand seats across all levels lost during his tenure. Meanwhile, the Clintons were happy to wait in the wings so that when Hillary ascended to the presidency all the Clinton lackeys and hangers-on could take over the party. Hillary’s loss meant that all those people were suddenly toxic. At the same time, the Obama years and Hillary’s candidacy convinced a lot of Dems that they no longer needed the white working class, so they’ve become open in their disdain, and their egos won’t allow them to back down and play nice anymore.
The result is a party consisting of the deep blue dems, who have been in their positions forever, and the radicals who have money but are too far left. The Dems are basically in a civil war right now. No one can veer towards the center because they can’t afford to lose support from the far left.

2A supporter: So, you’re saying that you believe I should disarm myself to a government willing to inflict massive casualties on its own population using WMDs or bombing?
Speaking of horror movies, I watched the Banana Splits trailer yesterday and had a few thoughts.
1) Scott Cawthon (creator of Five Nights at Freddy’s) has a lawsuit if he wants it.
2) Why the heck would you use this IP to do a horror movie?

Intel sharing, providing logistics, or simply focusing on striking certain types of targets and leaving most of the attack to the Saudis.
We’ve long supported the Saudis because we needed oil to flow in the ME. That’s no longer the case, so we should be willing to reevaluate our position there. This was an attack on their sovereignty, so they need to be responsible for the lion’s share of any response, not us.

That’s an interesting thought. Where do cultural issues fit in? Is it as simple and cosmopolitan = globalist? As in, it’s cosmopolitan to cut off your dick or how no borders…
That certainly seems to be how it’s shaping up. I think the alignment of “gender is whatever I say it is!” and “no borders” is the destruction of local community, and thus history and family. A person who insists on redefining themselves wholly, without constraint of God or Man, needs a new place to be, or a place that is forced to forget who they really are. The immigrant is the former, the transsexual is the latter.
Whether or not SA is a good friend is beside the point. We have legal obligations towards them, not just public opinion.

Cosmopolitan literally means “citizen of the world” so yeah. The cosmopolitans already generally subscribe to the left-wing cultural views, and those that don’t (often NeverTrump) are eager to be seen as no like those yucky socons who want to tell people how to live.
I learned something new yesterday. I always thought the term parabellum referred to the shape of a certain projectile, or cartridge. It doesn’t. It literally means prepared for war.

Do you think we’d rush to Turkey’s aid if they were bombed? I mean, NATO and whatnot.
Comment by Colorado Alex In Exile on September 17, 2019 11:53 am
The Saudis are actually better allies than Turkey these days.
I know that the right has decided to hate the Iraq war and condemn it unconditionally, but I do think that removing Saddam was on the whole positive for the region, in part because it gave us more freedom with regard to dealing with our allies in the region. Without the threat of Saddam looming over them, the Saudis are some ability to undertake meaningful reforms with our blessing. Meanwhile, we can start to pull away from Turkey as it goes down the Islamic shithole.
Well, the “spirit of V2” is what killed Latin, not the actual documents produced. I’m not one of the lunatics who thinks that kneeling and taking communion on the tongue is magically going to fix everything, or that ad orientum is somehow holier than ad popularum.
We haven’t rushed to SA’s aid yet either, other than intel, or information, etc. So yes, I think the response would be comparable.

Also a good point. I was assuming we were talking about publicly supporting some sort of actual war effort.
Ted was my first concert. He was my goto guy from about age 19-24. I loved the raw fuckin energy of the guy. I still have double live gonzo on my iTunes library but I have to be in the mood for it these days ie. drinking heavily. My musical tastes have reflected my metabolism…..100 mph as a youth, way slower and more relaxed these days.
My musical tastes have changed over time too. Depends on the day but it’s much more mellow than in days gone by. A lot of the classic rock I was sick of because it was overplayed sounds great now because I haven’t heard it in so long. A lot of the 80’s and 90’s stuff I really liked at the time makes me scratch my head and wonder wtf I was thinking when I played it all the time.
I pretty much don’t buy music now. Just listen to amazon music stations at work for background noise when I’m writing notes. In the car it’s either classic rock, talk radio or sports talk. I’ve given Ben free reign to trade my old CD’s for credit at Bull Moose Records. He has slacked off lately because he’s bought a lot of vinyl records and is more into video games with his friends on line.
I don’t even use my SiriusXM much any more, and I used to listen to it almost exclusively. I just fell out of the habit (also kept being in places where I couldn’t get a signal didn’t help).
When I was driving back from Bangor today I heard Glenn Beck talking about the Twelfth Imam stuff he likes to chat about and after turning the channel to sports talk I thought of something we never hear about anymore… the Arab Street. Remember all those references to the opinions of Arabs and how we should listen to it? Not so much lately.
I didn’t agree with her politics, and her politics were very obvious in her reporting, but she wasn’t mediocre. She was a very intelligent woman, and had good political analytical abilities, even though she was a flaming lib. But mediocre she wasn’t.

Heard ABC Radio report that this was done by cruise missile not drones. If it was cruise missiles then a response is required. Iran cannot be allowed to throw cruise missiles around the region, and if anything even looks like its approaching Israel I would bet big money on a very dynamic response. We live in interesting times and I respectfully suggest (if you live near a major metro) attending to your basic “needs” at home. This one has the potential to go sideways and snowball. If the Iranians have used cruise missiles I think it indicates a certain level of desperation.

The legal medical marijuana shops got upset when recreational marijuana laws passed here. They spent a lot of time and money to build their brand and -swoosh- it was out the window.
Every once in a while I get asked about medical marijuana or CBD supplements and I just punt the answer to their PCP
Most of the people advocating for the current passage of laws are being used by corporations who are going to cash in.
Whether or not SA is a good friend is beside the point. We have legal obligations towards them, not just public opinion.

Fair point. In fact, it’s a really good one.
But allow me to retort (Samuel Jackson voice)
Do you think we’d rush to Turkey’s aid if they were bombed? I mean, NATO and whatnot.
Si vis pacem, para bellum.
I blame Vatican II for killing Latin literacy.
Blaming Vatican II is appropriate for a lot of things.
We haven’t rushed to SA’s aid yet either, other than intel, or information, etc. So yes, I think the response would be comparable.
Well, the “spirit of V2” is what killed Latin, not the actual documents produced. I’m not one of the lunatics who thinks that kneeling and taking communion on the tongue is magically going to fix everything, or that ad orientum is somehow holier than ad popularum.

Also a good point. I was assuming we were talking about publicly supporting some sort of actual war effort.
If you are referring to committing US troops to set foot in Turkey, no I don’t think that would happen.
I also don’t think we’ll see US troops on the ground in SA either.
There are already troops on the ground in San Antonio. Fort Sam Houston is located there along with a couple of air bases.
they are staging an invasion of Austin
Did everyone like the music today?
Si vis pacem, para bellum.
Pacem is peace, so If you seek peace, prepare for war? Makes sense to me.
Yes. It’s a very famous latin phrase.
I might have liked Tool if I’d heard them as a youngster, but I doubt it.
It’s a very famous latin phrase.
Way to make me feel like a dope. I know shit too, ya know.
Someone had to explain molon labe to me once, too.
Also, I don’t know shit. I’m pretty sure if I knew shit, I’d be a lot less miserable.
About the only music I hear anymore is hymns at church. Not signalling holiness at all, I just don’t listen to music much.
I do get to hear Possum’s “Kid Songs” CD a lot.
A lot.
I don’t even use my SiriusXM much any more, and I used to listen to it almost exclusively. I just fell out of the habit (also kept being in places where I couldn’t get a signal didn’t help).
Music is life. You guys are cray cray.
Not recently it isn’t.

Excellent post, Jay!!
Of course it was!
(thanks mare)
I don’t believe any of the nasty things they’ve been saying about you.
Music is life.
No, it’s not.
Heh, see where Al Sharpton posted a tribute to Cokie Roberts, except it was Christine Amanpour?
LOL
The lead story at Ace’s is hilarious. Sharpton refers to Roberts as Cookie, then posts an interview he did with Christiane Amanpour.
What a fucking jackass.
Ace refers to Roberts as “southern-fried liberal patrician mediocrity”, which I disagree with.
I didn’t agree with her politics, and her politics were very obvious in her reporting, but she wasn’t mediocre. She was a very intelligent woman, and had good political analytical abilities, even though she was a flaming lib. But mediocre she wasn’t.
I dont think this is going to be a boots on the ground response except for maybe the SAR Teams. I dont think BOTG is Trumps thing. I think it will be a “Blow the shit out of your important stuff, dont make us come back thing.” (My preference, fuck Nation Building)

I thought we were the only ones with cruise missiles. SCUDs don’t count.
It’s not like the tech behind cruise missiles is that hard to put together *cough*V-1*cough*…
Why do you disagree?
She was lame.
Not using reason and logic is mediocre. leftists aren’t all that bright.

Music is life. You guys are cray cray.
One person’s music is another person’s ear bleed.
Music to me….busy birds in the springtime. Such a happy sound. That is life.
I loved the bird song too. It’s already gone and we’re sad about that.
/turns up Tool
Birds, cicadas, wind in the trees. And it’s not overproduced like the drek they foist off these days.
I love the sound of cicadas
Today I saw a couple big fat fluffy bluejays swooshing around in the birdbaths. They’re so sassy. I love them.
But not in Spring.
Sassy is a nice politically correct term for Bluejays.
More common is Assholes.
Assholes, that’s geese. We’re overrun by the SOBs these days. They displaced the ducks I normally see around here and instead it’s geese, geese, geese.
Huh, Cory Lewandowski seems like a kickass guy. I like his handling of the dem dumbasses.
Poor bastard. That look of hopelessness…
https://tinyurl.com/y6fmqq33
The look on his face ….”Wait?? I did Whut??”
They’re seriously considering making another reboot of Battlestar Galactica. *shakes head*
Poor bastard. That look of hopelessness…

I love ya baby……..but I gots to be on top. Gotsta.
I firmly believe that the primary reason that we’re seeing all these “re-boots” is because they can blame any prospective social justice blowback on the past vs. taking accountability for their “original” content. That and the lockstep cheesy fucks couldn’t buy a original thought. They cant get anything new past the sjw censors and they know it.
And they don’t know how to write a long form story. You can’t learn that in college anymore. Along with principled journalism, the good things about western civilization, ethics, etc…
long form story?
Like, a book.
Way to make me feel like a dope. I know shit too, ya know.
No, no, I felt dopey the same way. I’m certain that’s not the right term for what I’m talking about.
GODDAMN YOU WORTHLESS LIBERAL EDUCATORS!!
*shakes fist indignantly*
*looks around all sneaky like*
TIL my dad saw Eddie Mathews play for the Atlanta Crackers and Satchel Paige pitching against him.
haha, just quoting hotspur
That’s cool, roamy. Anyone who pitches into his 50’s (and well!) is pretty awesome in my book.
Is the BSG reboot rebooting the original or rebooting the reboot?
Cool version of Gallows Pole
It made up for hearing the yellow cat story for the 1,089th time.
Lewandowski with Swallel(sp), who threatened to nuke gun owners’.
You put these notes in your safe?
How big is this safe?
It’s a big safe, congressman, there are many guns in there.
Corey is a thug and an asshole, but he totally owned these assholes today.
Cory sure is smooth. He has a very refined speaking style.
Denying everything, Rodney prevaricated.
long form book – novel?
the redo of battlestar gallactica was much better than the first.
