HHD

Good morning, and welcome to another edition of Hunky Hump Day. Let’s get started.

Yes, I know it’s a cover song, but I like this version better than Dan Hicks’ version.

Now for the hunks.
Birthday boy Wyatt Russell, son of Kurt. Good on ya for keeping ya boogerhook off the bang switch.

Fake redhead for Carin.

Banglar!

Nice eyes, no tats.

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Last, but not least.

Thank you for your attention, and y’all have a good day.

Mare, neither co-worker nor his wife got a garbage degree. He is an engineer, she is a nurse. They both went to local schools, so it’s not stupid expensive like MIT. I was stunned by the amount – I think they must have borrowed living expenses on top of tuition. I don’t know how much more than $800 a month he can afford to pay.

There is a fun Twitter thread of “tell me a story that sounds fake but is genuinely true.” Lost count of how many humorless libs posted, “A reality TV star became President.” Derp.

President Tyler’s grandson is mentioned. (He’s still alive.)

  9. Comment by roamingfirehydrant on July 10, 2019 7:53 am

He mentioned some rule by Obama about loan forgiveness in 10 years, and that moved all the banks to only offer 10 years of payments. I didn’t get that, but I am not surprised that something Obama did resulted in people getting screwed over.

  10. Comment by mare on July 10, 2019 8:01 am

That’s the opposite of a garbage degree. Hmmmm. Bad advice, or like you said, added living expenses.

  11. Comment by mare on July 10, 2019 8:05 am

I wonder what the interest rate was on the loan. The math at 800/month should rap that loan up before 10 years.

  12. Comment by roamingfirehydrant on July 10, 2019 8:13 am

    If it’s a federal loan, it’s probably 6.8%.

  13. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 10, 2019 8:26 am

Obamacare counts you as full time at 30 hours a week. How many jobs are 29.5 hours now? I’ve seen plenty of ads that have that figure in them explicitly.

$50k is a nice truck, nowadays. Those are $7-800 payments for 5-6 years. Something isn’t adding up.

  20. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 10, 2019 8:50 am

I shudder whenever I see a 6 year loan for a vehicle. I think the tax depreciation schedule for them is only 7 years.

  21. Comment by scott on July 10, 2019 8:53 am

That sounds like a priority mail international price.

First class should be about 1/2 that.

Go to usps.com and play with the price calculator, you might have to change the size of the box.

  22. Comment by Jay in Ames on July 10, 2019 8:53 am

well, 6 year payments are used to keep them “affordable”.

  23. Comment by Jay in Ames on July 10, 2019 8:54 am

  24. Comment by Jay in Ames on July 10, 2019 8:54 am

  25. Comment by Jay in Ames on July 10, 2019 8:55 am

I got the best price at USPS by actually showing up at the post office. Their website is crap, and doesn’t give you the best price.

  27. Comment by leoncaruthers on July 10, 2019 9:10 am

well, 6 year payments are used to keep them “affordable”.

Home mortgages in 1910 were 5 years, which was considered long-term at the time.

Then the government started helping with that “affordability” problem.

In another 20 years, car loans will have 20 year terms and be sold exclusively through Freddie Mac.

    – I think they must have borrowed living expenses on top of tuition. I don’t know how much more than $800 a month he can afford to pay.

This is common. You borrow whatever they’re going to give you and you spend the extra on spring break, etc.

    wakey wakey

I went on a rant this morning with Rapinoe. She makes these stupid claims (Trump’s message excludes people like me …) and I want to ask … HOW? Be specific.

I told him it’s like make an accusation about our bank and refusing to back it up with anything…. MY BANK IS CORRUPT.

I have zero proof or argument to back it up.

But they (the media) let her get away with it. They just nod along … “yes” …

  30. Comment by Colorado Alex In Exile on July 10, 2019 9:18 am

Most of my current debt is due to rent, TBH. I had a year of school full-time, so I just paid upfront. I wanted to focus on getting through school and not trying to balance a job as well, especially since I wasn’t planning on staying in California.

One of my biggest frustrations is that schools, especially community colleges, seem to be less willing to run night classes for anything but the very basic stuff. This makes it difficult to manage a job and school at the same time. I suspect that it’s partially because so much easy money means that they’d rather just encourage kids to take out more loans and be full-time students.

  31. Comment by Jay in Ames on July 10, 2019 9:21 am

Night classes require professors to work at night. Can’t even get normal people to stay later at night.

  32. Comment by Jay in Ames on July 10, 2019 9:27 am

It’s all because of the schools not having market forces controlling their prices and costs. Everything has to start there.

    Ok, now do healthcare!

  33. Comment by Brother Cavil on July 10, 2019 9:30 am

And places that do offer night classes aren’t the “approved” types (read: they’re for-profit outfits that don’t donate to the “right” people).

I managed to get about half of my grad school classes in the evening, but that was for a master’s in math, and a lot of my classmates were teachers looking for a pay raise and the classes were at EMU, which is big on their Education major. Spring/Summer classes were easier to take in the evening, for some reason, likely because the prof could keep a summer day job and make some extra scratch at night.

My only debt is our house and cars. I could have paid cash for the cars, but the interest rate was like 2%, which is practically the equivalent of free money. They’ll be paid off in a year, then it will only be the house.

Our friends just paid their house off, but they’ve lived there 25 years. We’ve only been in ours four. Oh well.

  39. Comment by Colorado Alex In Exile on July 10, 2019 10:03 am

At this point the student debt and a bit of credit card debt (from two moves in the past three years) is all I have. I should have everything paid off in about two years, if all goes according to plan.

The next big thing is getting back on track with retirement. Since I’m likely to remain single, I figure I’ll start putting away about $10-20k a year in investments in the next few years, once things with work get settled. Keep doing that until I hit 70 and I should be fine.

I’ve got one car loan and the mortgage. If the land sells, the car loan is gone. Mortgage is done in ~10 years (so 11 years total) if I’m able to keep knocking down the principal.

I’m debating on the latter, though. I really need to work with a good CPA and financial advisor to make a solid tax avoidance plan for my salary and future farm bidness and ensure that the farm is safe for future generations.

Daughter and I could have done one much cheaper…but…Mr. B. threw a wrench in that plan. Well, maybe somewhat cheaper. Maybe.

The photographer alone, is $1500/3 hr minimum.
    Food/venue will be $17.95/person…80ish people.
    Dress $1400.
    Florist $800.
    Organist/singer/priest/server boys – $625.
Still mulling over what to do for dessert.

Maybe I skimmed too quickly and missed it, but the ass-kissing of the slimeball was so heavy, they failed to mention how much money he was bringing in from his Ukraine/chinese lobbying efforts. And yeah, I totes going to believe everything coke boy excuses away, like that $80k diamond. “I have no idea where that went. I gave it to my associates.” Mmm-hmm.

“Worked on my co-worker with the student loans today, trying to Dem-proof him. ”

Dave Ramsey took a caller wanting to know if he and his wife should minimum pay their student loans ($95k) and wait for a democrat to take office, who will then forgive the rest of it. Made mention, they make enough to pay it off themselves in less than two years.

Infuriates the hell out of me.

Seriously sitting my girls down and explaining to them the whole issue (even though grand parents and my wife and I have set up 529s).

It’s a wonder that they can’t see the only reason Hunter Biden is in that position is because of his father. Russian businessmen aren’t stupid, they are getting something for that money. Why don’t they find what that “something” is? I know, it’s because D not R.

We paid off our primary residence, 5 years ago. Only debt we have is husband’s truck payment and the rental. No paying off the truck and no real saving this year because wedding bills as they come.

Daughter is now paying the rental’s mortgage of which we’re doubling, sometimes tripling down in payment to the bank. We’re hoping to have that sucker paid off in five years, if we don’t sell it first.

  61. Comment by MJ on July 10, 2019 12:09 pm

A normal person isn’t afforded the luxury of doing dumb shit repeatedly and getting away/out of it. Eventually they face consequences.

But Hunter Biden never will. He married a girl 20 years his junior after 7 or 8 days while living in LA and everyone said it was awesome! He’ll be dead in a year.

  62. Comment by beasn on July 10, 2019 12:09 pm

Why don’t they find what that “something” is?

Curiously amazing how incurious they were about all the things in that article. They point to the ‘right wing’ media bringing it all up but never make the effort to investigate any of it or bother to ask how much the punk was bringing in from those contacts. “Oh, Joe never asked about his connections and Hunter never told him so that’s all okey dokey and on the up and up and none of it had anything to do with buying influence.”
Right wing media is just picking on them because politics and they’re meanies.

Alex, we’re going to come in under budget on the wedding. It’s just that beasnette will have less of that budget to put in the bank when it’s all said and done.
Then they will have to tackle ‘his’ student loan. Hopefully he’s been throwing money at it for the last 4 years they’ve been out of school and hopefully a lot more since he got a real job while still living with his parents. (don’t think they charged him rent)

Or as Mr. B. said, technically we’ll be paying off a good chunk of his loan…when we cut them a check for the balance of the budget we put up for the wedding. Grrrr

  97. Comment by beasn on July 10, 2019 3:50 pm

Oo, I like that one. Warrior12 had some nice ones, too.

I took it as he was complaining about people using his name.

no, he’s saying that anyone using the 13 stars in a circle flag is ripping off his idea.

    Rush is wrong.

We’re in Grand Junction for minor league ball. I don’t remember being in this part of CO that much. You can really see the hippie bleed into formerly Red State. And the legal marijuana. Saw a massage, nails, CBD, and tanning business.

  102. Comment by osoloco11 on July 10, 2019 5:04 pm

From Silverton to Ouray, all we saw were Jeeps and a few Xterras. Lots of people pulling onto the shoulder with bike racks and fishing poles. Lots of hikers. Cali license plates.

  103. Comment by Colorado Alex In Exile on July 10, 2019 5:04 pm

The Western Slope has always had a bit of that. You got ranchers who’ve been there for generations, and hippies who moved out there because the land was cheap.

  104. Comment by Colorado Alex In Exile on July 10, 2019 5:23 pm

Got a budget amendment request and called the requester to clarify some details. Then my boss and group leader come over to ask me about said phone call (which I’d noted in in the request database). Then I hear my boss and group leader in the latter’s office, calling the requester to ask the same damn questions.

Jam said he had some personal stuff to deal with and that he would be away for a while. It’s been awhile, so I pray he is well.

Picked the first bell pepper. It’s pretty dang tasty. Chopped some into a pot of fresh sweet corn shorn off the cob.

Never had any luck with bell peppers in the past.

Speaking of transitioning, the kid in Scotland who got thrown out of class for saying there are only two genders? He has since been expelled. Someone set him up a gofundme account and the cunts who run gofundme, shut it down and refunded all the donations.
So, someone set up another crowdfund at fundly. They raised about $3k, so far.

  116. Comment by Jimbro on July 10, 2019 7:45 pm

Speaking of transitioning, I recently evaluated an individual who used a chest binder and because of some back pain and some changes on x-ray, was felt to have stress fractures of multiple thoracic vertebrae.

Spoiler alert: Not fractured, it was Scheuermann’s Disease.

    Even milder than this https://tinyurl.com/yxrrddct

My SIL’s niece, who decided she’s a boy, was wearing boy clothes at the funeral this past weekend. She’s binding herself.
Her dad is having a hard time with it all.

I was told “Logan Lucky” was a comedy. I waited through 20 minutes for even a chuckle and gave up.

There was a storm moving down to our area about an hour or so ago. Watching the radar and out the window, to the east, thought it was going to miss us.
Then it edged a little west and it’s been raining ever since. And there it sat until it blew itself out. The lawn is happy.

  133. Comment by beasn on July 10, 2019 9:46 pm

Finished watching the next season of Stranger Things. Of course they had to insert a gay teen character and a smart little black girl with a bad attitude, who curses out an adult.

I liked Logan Lucky hillbilly heist movie. Married a heist movie guy. It didn’t suck. Probably meeting Brockmire when we hit the Scranton League. If NM goes ahead with legalizing pot, Grand Junction wouldn’t be horrible. Looking at Trinidad/Pueblo area.
