Magnificent Moral Morale

Of course those words make no sense together. I began with the idea of showing some morale patches and then needed a title. After contemplating how close morale was to moral and wondering if there was any correlation between the two words I had a headache. So I poured more coffee. Then I realized I was one letter away from a MMM post of my own. And since we all love a good MMM I ran with it.

Morale patches have a military origin and reflect a sense of humor you would expect from a mostly male organization that is nominally in the business of killing bad guys. I’m sure this has changed in the modern military but the roots go back to WW1. Unlike the military versions these funny ones are generally not worn as official kit, just a token of a small unit to enjoy and smile about. Given the explosion of technology, internet access and design programs there seems to be a lot of patches for everything these days. Like memes, they’re mostly coming from a conservative viewpoint. In all my trolling around the internets I (thankfully) haven’t seen any antifa morale patches.

  1. We have new shower curtains, the one on the inside and the one on the outside. Other than them being new I took no notice of the pattern. The other day, as I looked up from the shitter, I noticed it was bible quotes with nature scenes. Never taken a dump in church before and I hope this is as close to that happening at any time in the future.

  2. HA! Paula’s trying to get Jimbro some knowledge while he’s in his happy place.

  5. Just read a nice email from one of my former students. She is heading for a pedi ortho fellowship in CA then after that ortho oncology. Yeah, she was wicked smaht.

  7. I think it would look like that Animosity International logo at the upper right of our site.

  8. Never taken a dump in church before and I hope this is as close to that happening at any time in the future.

Dropping the kids off at the pool before leaving for church is a wise move.

  9. Mornin’ racists, sexists, homophobes, xenophobes, transphobes, lesbians, queers, jew haters, Klansmen, fascists, nazis, islamophobes, perverts, pedophiles, climate deniers, anti vaxers, creationists, gun lovers, mass shooters, future mass shooters, tRumpophiles, hags, fags, and cunts.

  10. It’s amazing to look at perceived results of congressional court antics, viewed through the lens of H2 and AOS, then reading Daily Kos and The Argument Room.

You’d think Barr was being beaten like a seal over there.

  11. Then I hear about the idiotic comments of dem congresscritters, and Barr telling Nadler to stick it, if he doesn’t want to ask the questions.

Whats with Nadler not recognizing committee members during the session? That was confusing.

  12. Jay, it’s what democrats do when they obtain power. Remember Obamacare? Created behind closed doors, passed without a single republican vote via a trick of the legislative process.

    It’s what they do.

Take that to the Argument Room and tell them to blow me.

  13. They are getting their info from different sources, that’s for sure. Lots of NPR, and Reason.

  14. According to local news, Barr is refusing to show up today because the Dems beat him up so badly yesterday.

  15. Heh, that’s a prime example, pepe.

No, it’s because Emperor Nadler changed the rules!

  16. Happy anniversary, Osama!

In other news, Ted Kennedy will get his 10 year sobriety pin in august.

  17. In the RYFKM category:

    I didn’t know this was a requirement.

Fucking travesty of the educational system. Algebra II is of no value to some one not going to college. None.

  18. The Argument Room view on the Barr hearings

    One of them, at least.

  19. I disagree, to a point, HS. Equations like those in Algebra 2 are useful in some situations, figuring out distances, areas, other problems. None really earth shattering, but useful. I’d be ok with electives, though. Some people just don’t want to know it.

  20. “The policy equalizes opportunity for the disadvantaged,” Kim said. “We are not trying to send everyone to college, but if the policy provides opportunity to take advanced courses, which gives them more options as far as career trajectory, then why not?”

I’ll tell you why not you pencil-necked cunt, because they won’t use it. Your kind of thinking in the academic realm is the reason we have no young people available or willing to consider skilled trades. You’ve tried to herd all of them into your college debt scam.

Jay, Geometry is all that is needed for what you cite. And then, only in limited fields. My carpenters have to know geometry. If they’ve all supposedly had Algebra II, it was a miserable failure. I have to teach them the basics of how to cut a rafter, how to calculate a valley, how to do area take offs, how to figure the circumference or area of a circle, etc.

It’s nothing more than a political indoctrination into how to become a good commie.

  21. One semester of practical trig would be plenty. The other semester could be stats. Done.

  22. A course based on this book would be an ideal replacement.

    You left out Methodists.

  24. Damn it, Teresa beat me to it.

  25. Who the hell is letting Methodists in here?

  26. By the time you enter high school you should already know basic algebra and geometry.

Finance, stats, and practical applications of all math.

  27. Louder with Crowder: Amazon pays no taxes DEBUNKED

So sick of hearing this argument.

  28. At least they don’t let Irish in here.

  29. My problem solving also extends to financial questions, curves, etc, which require more. I suppose you could argue that computers are a college field, and I’d partly agree with that. But to understand how to solve some problems requires more than geometry and basic math. Even a little beyond algebra 1, which i’m certain you’ll agree is a necessary skill.

  30. By the time you enter high school you should already know basic algebra and geometry.

    Another failure of education.

They’re teaching younger kids shit they don’t need to know at that age, at the expense of things they do need to know – English, grammar, history, geography, real actual fucking arithmetic, etc. All of the non-fun stuff the teachers hate. Fuck you, teachers, and your cushy fucking 188 day per year jobs – extra days off – Christmas break, winter break, spring break, summer vacation, Martin Luther King Day, Presidents Day, Veteran’s Day, Good Friday, day before and day after Thanksgiving, sick days, personal days…

    Algebra I – 9th grade
    Geometry – 10th grade

Where you go after that is up to whether you are going to college or are getting a job in the trades.

I asked my niece who just graduated from State what is 12 x 12. She didn’t know. I asked her what was Pearl Harbor. She didn’t know. I asked who fought in the American Civil War – didn’t know. I asked her to name at least one state capitol besides Michigan – she couldn’t. I asked her to name the continents and oceans – nope. We were having fun with it but my God, how sad.

  31. It is sad.

  32. I have considered calling around to find out what it would take to teach at the Catholic school my daughter will be attending in the Fall. Might make a for a nice semi-retirement.

  33. Leon, that would be a noble thing. You would be good at it.

  34. If I won the lottery, I’d consider starting my own school just to control the curriculum.

I figure it would look something like:

Math – Geometry, Algebra 1, Accounting, Finance
    Science – Physics, Chemistry, Biology
English – Writing and Rhetoric. American Lit
History – US History 1 and 2, Economic and Political Systems
PE – Sports and Games, health and Fitness, Self Defense, Life Skills
Other – Physical Geography, World Geography, Computer Skills, Introduction to the Legal System.

  35. The parochial schools don’t pay nearly what the state schools do, but the teachers I know are far more dedicated and feel like they’ve actually made a difference.

The state schools teach to the lowest common denominator. If your kid is in a class with kids who don’t speak English, gotta spend time teaching the immigrants to the detriment of the American kids. If your kid has kids in his class with special needs, he gets screwed again, because we no longer have Special Ed classes. Gotta mainstream them. If a kid has behavioral issues, they can’t be sent to the principal, and no way they can be disciplined.

Many teachers I know spend a considerable amount of time arguing with parents who think their kid’s grade is too low. If the teacher pushes back, the principal orders them to raise the grade.

Public education is a scam, and an enormous failure.

  36. You know who knows all of those things? Home schooled kids.

  37. So far my favorite Dem scam is to get non college grads to pay for college grads back on their tuition debt.

    WT actual F.

You’d have to be dumbest person alive to think this is a good idea.

  38. Or a democrat. But I repeat myself…

  39. Lil man can pick out all kinds of shapes and can say a shit ton of words. He knows Brooklyn is his girlfriend and how to use an iPad.

He also points to his dick if you ask ‘where is your gentleman’s sausage.’

I think that alone should get him into Harvard.

  40. Have you picked out a gender? More accurately, has Lil man picked out hys gender?

  41. He’s not sure yet. We call him lil man in hopes that he’ll decide to be a man.

DCFS comes this week to put an end to that and to confiscate the workbench toy I bought him.

  42. Mic Drop moment for Grassley

Love how he just walks off, without a reply.

  43. Tell them that the workbench is to create gender-neutral paper mache giant protest heads.

  44. You know who knows all of those things? Home schooled kids

And kids who go to Catholic school.

  45. Algebra teaches abstract thought. Teaching people to think is important. So few do.

  46. Problem with Grassley’s comment is that anyone under the age of forty won’t know what the fuck snake oil means, and will just say, “Senile old coot.”

  47. Assuming that a workbench is a masculine toy is toxic gender stereotyping.

  69. So the shitbird progcoms decided to be cute today at the kabuki theater and placed a bucket of chicken in a empty chair to portray Barr. Once again these silly humans prove they are the party of juvenile thinking and have managed to bring our .gov proceedings to banana republic levels. Cant wait for the first fist fights to break out in the Senate and Congress.

  70. Heh, that editorial is gonna go over well in DemCong, as BiW puts it.

We’ll never hear about it, in other words.

  71. Another article from the WSJ.

A month before his inauguration, and shortly after he had finished a round of golf with Tiger Woods, Donald Trump was introduced to an adviser of the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, the chief advocacy group for American corporations.

Stanton Anderson stood in the clubhouse of Mr. Trump’s golf course in West Palm Beach, Fla., and extended his hand to the president-elect.

    Mr. Trump refused it.

“You guys did everything to stop me,” Mr. Trump said, his face reddening, according to two people who were there. “I haven’t forgotten.”

In the two years since, relations between Mr. Trump and Washington’s biggest lobbying organization haven’t much improved.

The chill has hurt the U.S. Chamber, which for decades was the unmatched voice of industry. Its revenue has dipped, spending on lobbying and elections has fallen, and its large-donor pool has shrunk.

After eight years tussling with the Obama administration, the Chamber hoped a business-friendly administration would help reanimate its power. But Mr. Trump’s populism has refashioned the GOP agenda, and that has cut against priorities of various chamber constituencies that oppose tariffs and view immigration as a useful labor supply.

It’d take a heart of stone not to laugh maniacally while masturbating furiously to their tears.

  76. Belfast is a liberal cesspool in a beautiful location. It used to be a solid blue collar town with a major industry of poultry production. That dried up a long time ago. MBNA built a huge campus there and then abandoned it within a decade. They’re trying to get a salmon farm going and the environazis are stonewalling it. Their mayor is a young nurse who calls herself a “Queer Mayor” and is incompetent.
