MMM 353: Don’t eat, don’t touch!

Today I bring you the most commonly eaten wild, poisonous mushroom: the death cap.

Death-Cap-Mushroom-Guide-889x755.jpg

If you’re going foraging, this is one to know absolutely, because, well, they can f*cking kill you.  It’s the reason I don’t eat any wild mushrooms with gills.

Fun article, for those interested.

4130755764_9e9a282d6d_b.jpg

I’m fairly certain these were growing in part of my old yard at one point.

Death-cap-mushroom-Sean-Gallup-Getty-640x480.jpg

And possibly in my new one as well.  Might even have seen a faerie ring of them up the road, but those are more likely to have been the actual “faerie ring mushrooms” in this part of the state.

death_cap_mushrooms_mature_wide.jpg

Anyhow, if you see these, don’t eat them.  They’re in the amanita family, same as the hallucinogenic and toxic amanita muscaria, but so much more toxic that even reindeer won’t eat them (reindeer love amanita muscaria, and their urine after eating them is thought to be one of the early sources of go-juice for Siberian shamans).  I have no idea how to eradicate them if you do find them, but fire probably isn’t enough.

Update: great meme I neglected to add initially

  1. This poat smells of rotten…oh, yeah.

  2. I’m getting all of Carin’s snow.

  3. Final fight scene used this and it was a phenomenal use of music.

Watch Man on Fire, Car in. That was the forerunner to the Equalizer remake. Not directly, but the style and theme of the movie.

  4. Schultz was the first 20 minutes, and that part sucked.

The last 40 minutes was about spy satellites, and a couple in Michigan who figured out how to beat the lottery.

There are so many satellites up there. Imagine time lapse photography for the entire world. That’s how the navy seals had such an accurate scale model of Osama’s house.

    Our satellites filmed the construction.

Oh. and Leon, stop peeing behind the barn.

  5. Current snow accumulation: zero

Everything’s closed – school, zumba, restaurants, hair salons.

    I repeat – snow accumulation – zero.

  6. Looked at Liz’s instagram after my comment. The tattoos are all in the last 5 years or so, after she fled youtube when people kept linking her porn movies in the comments. Not sure when she had her lips done, might have been during the youtube era. Her son has to be 10 years old by now.

  7. I’ve seen man on fire, I’m pretty sure. I don’t really know how equalizer somehow slipped by me.

  8. Surprised that you haven’t heard of Equalizer movies. They are a favorite round these parts, oso is a fan too.

  9. Same guy did the music for Man on Fire and Equalizer. Also Kingdom of Heaven, The Martian, Deja Vu (another good Washington movie).

  10. There are a lot of satellites, multiple agencies, multiple technologies (optical and SAR, which was only declassified in ’08), some in GEO and others in polar orbits.

  11. Surprisingly good for a wikipedia article.

  12. If she got to looking like that after porn, she must be one seething ball of issues.

  13. I private company has launched 100’s of them. They send back 1.2 million photographs every 24 hours.

  14. There are no SFW images of “Risi Simms”, but it’s Liz before her cosplay gamer grrrl grift. No tats, no bolt-ons, human lips.

  15. I’m currently reading a biography on General Lucious Clay, who was the military governor of the American sector of Germany during the post ww2 occupation. As he was in the process of allowing Germans to reform their political parties in preparation for evolving themselves into democratic self-governance, he refused to allow those parties to have their own newspapers as he felt they were an impediment to having an open democracy.

I’m reading this and wondering what he’d think about today’s WaPo, NYTimes, CNN, etc. They are as much an arm of the political left today as Pravda ever was in the old ussr.

  16. Absolutely right, Pendejo!

  17. Covington bishop was bullied into condemning teens. So now you can feel bad for him, too.

  18. My Instapot is no longer a virgin.

  19. Stout-hearted man of God, there.

  20. Seriously, the guy should be going to Confession once a week if not daily, owning up and saying “I screwed up and I’m sorry” should be easy for him. “No apologies” is for the mission, not the man on it.

  21. Bullied?

    Fuck him.

    Henry II said it best.

  22. Top men.

  23. I should go get some more gas just in case this really does turn into snow. @@

  24. What did you make, HS? Go to favorites here are chili and spaghetti sauce. Mine’s not an official “Insta-pot” though. Too old.

  25. Post updated with great meme I saw.

  26. So it says “Pressure Cooker” on the side, Jay?

  27. I made a four pound roast beef with potatoes and carrots.

    Everyone loved it.

    It was ridiculously easy.

I guess I can’t really call it “roast” beef, since you basically boil it.

  28. Tomorrow Tue 01/29

    High -7 | -27 F

At least it stopped snowing here. Not going to miss -27 when I bolt.

  29. High temps for the next few days: Tue 14º, Wed -5º, Thu 2º, Fri 13º.

  30. Snowing pretty hard here.

  31. Same here. Looks like 6″ just since 5am. I’ll have to shovel again as soon as it stops, and I already shoveled 2 hours yesterday.

  32. Hotspur, was it a rare roast beef, or more of a pot roast? Top round, or chuck?

  33. Damn, son. That sounds terrible and cold.

I did chicken with leaks and shiitake mushrooms in the IP on Saturday. Came out great.

It was basically a pan/oven recipe adapted to the IP but was super easy and quick.

  34. I should try to start an Instapot/Instathot meme.

  35. No jacket today. It’s beautiful outside.

  36. Sunny and cold here. I’m gonna go outside and kick my compost pile, see what’s squirming.
Falling to the single digits next coupla days or so. Rain/snow line will pass over us before that, whatever. Spring is coming and I have many artichoke plants perking up under lights in the cellar.

    Life is good.

  37. “artichoke plants”

  38. “artichoke”

  39. Last thing before my fake meetings all day…

I don’t understand how everyone (left and right media people, which are actually all the same) are declaring that Trump caved.

He’s just gonna win in three weeks, by their standard.

Don’t they see this? Don’t they see that Trump will never give up and that the usual rules of, ‘back to the normal way it’s always been,’ simply don’t apply here?

WTF people, help a stupid math guy out here.

  40. You aren’t fooling anybody, Cheech.

  41. MJ, people want gratification right now. They want to see the left publicly humiliated.

I don’t think it was a huge win for Trump, but it also wasn’t a huge loss. The shutdown made Pelosi look bad, because she refused to negotiate. I think that Trump probably realized that Senate Republicans were wavering, and the CR gives them a fig leaf to come back in three weeks and say, “We gave the Dems time to negotiate with the government open, but they decided to play games instead.”

Basically, Trump realized that the shutdown had served its purpose and agreed to the CR in order to pull back, regroup, and prep for the next round against Pelosi and Schumer.

  42. Video of LauraW’s basement.

  43. I think he also realized that the CoC-suckers in congress that are ostensibly on his side weren’t ever going to deliver what the people sent them there for (safety and security of the nation against foreign invasion) so long as it had their names on it. They won’t stop him from using his authority to get it done, but they couldn’t kill their gravy train by having their names on it.

  44. Bishop that weak shouldn’t be bishop.

  45. Yep, leon. 90% of what Congress does is done that way to avoid ever taking responsibility for everything.

  46. Or anything.

  47. Leon Johnson is correct. Trump isn’t a fan of the Imperial Presidency. A common theme with his decisions seems to be a desire to get Congress to do its job and take a concrete position on these issues. Congress, of course, doesn’t want that. They want the Executive branch to make all the tough decisions, while Congress fundraises and runs for reelection on criticizing those decisions.

  48. One of my coworkers told me that a guy in her hiking group was really into gardening. “He does hydroponics, have you ever grown plants that way?” I said, “Um. Hydroponics is a thing of potheads,” and she was stunned, then started laughing. “Oh my God, I think you’re right!” about that guy.

    Duh.

  49. Like your average backyard gardener is going to have a big chemical pump situation in their house for fucking lettuce.

  50. They’re just into extreeeeeeme prepping.

  51. Presidents are 8 years at best, but Congress is damn near for life.

    Term limits. Retroactive. NOW.

  52. People have been banging that drum since forever and a day, Cavil. That will effectively curtail the gravy train, therefore it will never happen.

  53. It was more of a pot roast. Chuck, I think. I can’t remember. HotBride bought it.

People who publish recipes should reveal their tastes. The author of the recipe I used obviously prefers well done beef. Being my first use of the Instapot I had no idea about cooking times. Her recipe said 45 to 50 minutes depending upon thickness. I think 35 minutes tops would have been better. It was still flavorful and tender though.

Essentially you have to either follow their recipe to find out how to alter it to your taste, or experiment first by changing it and risk ruining the meal.

  54. Like last week when I made this chicken pasta dish. It called for a teaspoon of red chili pepper flakes. I thought, “Nah, lets spice this up a bit.” So I put in two teaspoons. It turned out a bit spicy for HotBride so she didn’t like it.

I should have stuck to the recipe, then added spice at the table.

  55. MJ, people want gratification right now. They want to see the left publicly humiliated.

Yeah, I sort of agree with this. I don’t see how this is a victory for anyone. It’s merely a pause in the process.

Our media and elite are so dumb it’s embarrassing. They think the same thing, write the same thing, say the same thing, and get paid for it.

Take your average Bears and Packers fans. These are the types of discussions we’re having in politics. I’m so tired of it.

  56. Publicly humiliated, hell. I want to see them frog marched off, tried for crimes against humanity, and sent away to either life imprisonment, exile, or execution.

Maybe not very Christian of me, but I’m not God. My patience is limited.

  57. It really doesnt matter what Trump does at this point as the media portrays EVERYTHING Trump in a negative manner. They’re crowing about this as if its a knockout when it is obvious its a rope a dope. He’s going to wait three weeks, gets a bit of money flowing to the poor downtrodden federal workers, get the IRS to process all the early returns, get to State of the Union and drop the NE on them. This is what they fear and is why they will “delay” the SOTU for as long as possible. Shit is going to get dicey, they are going to go for a impeachment inorder to “block” Trumps SC nominee once they fess that RBG is dead. They are going to try to litigate the NE and if the Generals don’t act as ordered we are going to have a BIG fucking problem.

  58. Lauraw – I friend of mine spent a ridiculous amount of money for this “hydroponic” garden thing. She doesn’t even grow pot.

I just kind of shook my head.

    https://www.towergarden.com/shop/growing-system

  59. I fully expect an impeachment once RBG croaks. They’ll claim that Trump can’t nominate a replacement because he’s been impeached.

  60. blowing snow, and it’s windy and cold, but not even an inch accumulation so far.

WHAT IF I RUN OUT OF BREAD?

    /hugs instapot

    Insty will save me.

  61. If you were seriously into fresh herbs, I could see keeping some going in an in-house garden. Basil might be nice for that.

    But it’s mostly pot-heads.

  62. Essentially you have to either follow their recipe to find out how to alter it to your taste, or experiment first by changing it and risk ruining the meal.

I usually sort of look at other recipes if I don’t like parts of one – cooking times, etc. It’s not magic, I’m just not familiar with the cooking method. I don’t think I’ve followed a recipe perfectly since I got the thing.

  63. I don’t understand why journalists are so upset about the idea of learning to code. Programming is a lot like journalism: overstate your qualifications, read just enough to have a basic misunderstanding of the problem/system, do most of your work by googling the appropriate terms and copying what someone else has already written with minor changes.

  64. It’s because journalists would have to learn the difference between true and false. It’s a big leap, evidently.

  65. If you are using pressure as a cooking method, I don’t think that interior temp is a component of doneness. The cooking is accelerated by the rise in temperature of boiling, by the introduction of pressure, which lowers cooking times. By that time, it will be well above the 130 that is rare/medium rare. Different cuts of meat require different methods of cooking to bring out the best.

  66. My problem is that other than grilling and smoking, I’m pretty much new to cooking. Other than frozen dinners, I’ve never really cooked anything. So its isn’t intuitive to me how to interpret a recipe.

On the other hand, HotBride made us some really great shrimp and pasta and cheese dish Saturday night. She vowed to herself to follow the recipe to a tee. It nearly killed her.

  67. I don’t understand why journalists are so upset about the idea of learning to code. Programming is a lot like journalism: overstate your qualifications, read just enough to have a basic misunderstanding of the problem/system, do most of your work by googling the appropriate terms and copying what someone else has already written with minor changes.

These people are the reason I’m a subcontractor and not an employee. Employees are mostly there to fill seats at shitty rates while being backstopped by expensive people who can actually deliver.

  68. It’s because journalists would have to learn the difference between true and false. It’s a big leap, evidently.

Jay is clearly unfamiliar with Intersectional Feminist Programming.

  69. I wonder if there is some sort of guide out there to the “Science of Cooking” or something like that. I might be more interested in the subject if it was presented in that manner to me. The thing is …Im too disinterested to look it up……WHERES MY SAMMICH!

  70. Troy, have you watched Good Eats or Good Eats Reloaded?

  71. food science is a pretty big field.
    PhD programs even

  72. i’m pretty sure XB has posted on mre’s and such.
long term storage and packaged foods in general are chock full of man hours of science, engineering, and pepto

  73. HotBride always tells me that baking is chemistry, cooking is art.

  74. i used to do a guest lecture dealio at URI’s food science school

  75. Good eats is great for getting into the science of cooking.

  76. $600 for a tiny thing that requires you to also purchase more consumables (rock wool containers! Hah!). Oh, and the seeds for this thing that runs on chem-water are ‘non-GMO’, lolzomg.

This is a superior scam on the rich-but-stupid crowd, and I’m ashamed I didn’t think of it.

  77. Yea, I had to keep my comments to myself. And it can’t have produced much.

  78. Ok, it’s noon. Now the storm is really supposed to start.

    /yawn

  79. OH MY GOD LOOK HOW MUCH THE ACCESSORIES COST!

    lol lol lolol

$60 for a fucking tomato cage! $250 for led lights!

WHY OH WHY AM I STILL A MORAL PERSON WITH RUBES LIKE THIS IN THE WORLD??

  80. It’s really coming down here, Carin.

  81. America’s Test Kitchen is another good source.

  82. I’ve loved good eats since it came out. Sure, some things are silly, but it really does explain why. (Reloaded, Cooking network 9ET on Mondays). I do have them all in one place, IYKWIMAITYD

And Hotbride is exactly right. Baking requires strict measurements for exact results. Hydration ratios, times, temps. you can wing it, but you won’t get what you are looking for.

  83. Lots of blowing snow here. It snowed a little this morning. But it’s COLD!

  84. It really doesnt matter what Trump does at this point as the media portrays EVERYTHING Trump in a negative manner. They’re crowing about this as if its a knockout when it is obvious its a rope a dope. ———————————
Agree with all of this except for the last few parts. I don’t think they’ll really proceed with impeachment. I think the SC nomination will break them politically. The left has been fractured for awhile but they haven’t had their come to Jesus moment.

My hope is that they’ll tear each other apart in the run up to 2020 with the SC nomination as the catalyst and emerge as a sane party with left wing populism as its guiding principle.

  85. Ha! I guess Ace really doesn’t read his own blog!

  86. MJ, my suspicion is that we’ll eventually see a political shift into two parties: a globalist party, and a nationalist party.

  87. Covington bishop is a shitweasel and if I were a parent there, I’d be calling for him to toss his frock. F*cker.

  88. Lauraw – I know. My friend also does /sells the “juice plus” stuff … so … I really just have to keep my trap shut.

  89. I don’t understand why journalists are so upset about the idea of learning to code.

Because they may know that all those immigrants they cheerleaded are taking those jobs too. For a third of the price.
Or not because they are that stupid.

  90. They went to J-school. Math and logic are known weak points to such a person.

  91. I sincerely hope you are correct MJ.

  92. “I want to see them frog marched off, tried for crimes against humanity, and sent away to either life imprisonment, exile, or execution.”

    1000x this.

  93. That cold blast is going to dip here by Wednesday with an expected minus 5.
Should be back to mid 40s by the weekend. Imma pull out the shorts. Oh wait…I’ve been wearing those all winter. If I feel a little cold, I put on slippers or wear a throw around my shoulders for five minutes. I only put on pants when I have to run to the store.

  94. MJ, my suspicion is that we’ll eventually see a political shift into two parties: a globalist party, and a nationalist party.
    ————————————–
Hmmmm. That would be realignment that sheds the top layer of each party into its own. Interesting.

I think the most likely outcome is right and left populism that is nationalist if viewed as non-interventionist.

Also the baby’s favorite food…fish sticks. You big dummies.

  95. I’ve been wearing two pairs of pants IN THE HOUSE.

  96. What’s a frog march? Sounds interesting but also I wonder where the name came from.

    *frog marches to fridge

  97. frog-march verb
    \ ˈfrȯg-ˌmärch, ˈfräg-\
    frog-marched; frog-marching; frog-marches
    Definition of frog-march
    transitive verb

: to seize from behind roughly and forcefully propel forward
    frog-marched him out the door

    verb
    verb: frog-march
force (someone) to walk forward by holding and pinning their arms from behind.
“the cop frogmarched him down the steep stairs”

  98. Frog march, frottage march … I always get those confused

  99. Ocasio Cortez in Chinese…</a.

  100. Forever stamps just went up a nickel! Why was I not informed of this development?

    Oh, government shutdown, right

  101. Oh look, a Catholicism thread at the HQ. This should be fun…

  102. Married priests is not going to fix the vocations crisis. It’s Bergoglio “making a mess” to distract from how terribly he’s handling everything else on the job.

  103. Yeah, I ain’t touching that thread.

  104. Ha ha ha haaa, the apology to Melania Trump in The Telegraph is awesome. It’s like someone wrote down the feeling of extreme contrition after a lawyer gets his willy slapped with a brick.

  105. Shit, I forgot about the stamp increase. I kept putting off buying a shit ton of them before it happened. Meh.

  106. lauraw, go read the comments of wherever that is being reported. It’s still the Trump’s fault because lying liars.

  107. I’d freak out, beasn. $5 is $5

  108. I’d freak out, beasn. $5 is $5

Your mom is damned glad to get it.

  109. test

  110. HotBride is correct. Baking at altitude is chemistry AND math.

  111. Man on Fire…Own it. Rewatched last week. Equalizer…Own it. Equalizer 2…watched at theater. Buying soon.

  113. Haha: What does Gays mean?

  114. Time to go shovel again.

  115. Lucky closed the restaurant. I GET A SNOW DAY.

I just went and shoveled out the driveway at the road. It’s not too bad. Moose loves it.

  116. No way, I thought he NEVER closed.

  117. University of Iowa cancelled classes starting at 5pm Tuesday thru 12 noon Thursday.

  118. He has rarely closed. He stayed opened and called it at 3.

  119. How much snow are you getting?

  120. Lauraw, Leo was a Dachshund. Pepe, no surprises yet. Every time I cough or sneeze, it is an adventure. So far, No sharts.

  121. I dunno. It’s still coming down. We’ve probably got about 7 inches. Supposed to slow down around 8. My lesbaru says “no big deal”.

  122. 8 pm, that is.

  123. Dachshunds rule.

  124. Lauraw, they think they do. Clowns of the Dog World.

  125. I want a wire haired Dachshund. MA enjoys being an only dog. We don’t have the energy for Dachshund puppies anymore. After MA, we’ll probably senior rescue.

  126. So I’m seeing articles on how people can eat meat without killing animals, blah blah blah.

We can’t eat PLANTS without killing animals. Is there an agricultural process in which animals are not killed? Somebody enlighten me.

  127. Got my taxes filed and accepted (state and federal).now I am at the mercy of fate as to when I’ll see the return. But whateves cause it be money in da bank yo! Unless of course there were to be some kinda collapse, then I ain’t gonna be worried about paper money anyway so…

Showed the SIL the new toy stuff I’m building, he wants in. He’s a good father, husband, and man. Think I’ll build him one as gesture of my respect for his excellent character. Of course this will require me to aquire more parts. I hate that when it happens…..

Gun parts in my mailbox make me happpppppy…
Gunp parts in my mailbox makes me smile….

  130. Season 3 of The Expanse, very good!

  131. Jake Tapper is a wimpy fool.

    Douchetool.

  132. St. Louis news people!!

The other day, an off-duty female cop was shot dead at an on-duty cop’s house. At 1 am. She was 24 years old, married this past October. Story is, the gun ‘accidentally’ went off. During a game of Russian roulette. o_O

Instead of calling 911, they – yes, they (shooter and his partner) – rushed her to the hospital.

Asked my source if they heard anything about it. Only thing they could tell me was that she was brought in in her bra and panties and that the story the news media and the police department are putting out, is bullshit.

The mugshot of the shooter ….someone beat his ass. White guy with a very bruised face.

  133. Soo…were they drug tested? Are they related to any politician or higher up the food chain bigwig? A booty call gone bad when she wouldn’t do what was demanded?

  134. They took her clothes off to cut down on wind resistance.

  135. Story 2.

The city of St. Louis is plowing ahead hell-bent on merging with the county. The city is broke. The city is back to being murder capital. The city has been run by democrats for decades. And now the city wants the entire state to vote on whether they should merge with the county. They desperately want their hands on the county (made up of many fiscally responsible cities) $$$$$. It will become one of the largest cities in the country…with one mayor and one police department.

If it happens, the county will be f*cked and those dickwads will start heading our way to escape the same shit they escaped from when they fled the city. To continue to vote the same way.

  136. Beasnette is irritated. When she decided to work in the school system, it was for job security the benefits. She was put on the teacher’s schedule of pay/benefits, one of which was the state matched up to 14 and 1/2% of her pay, to her 401k. She’ll be vested in 5 years.

Now the state wants to cut costs. SLPs (speech language pathologists) have been told that the matching benefit goes down to 6%. Not sure if they will be kept on the same pay schedule.

According to her, the schools are hurting for SLPs. So why would remaining SLPs want to stick around when the incentive to do so is gone?

  137. When that takes effect, she will just be completing her third year in public schools.

  138. (hit ‘enter’ too soon)
So the question is, if she’s not vested, will they let her keep the 14 and 1/2% they already put aside for her – on paper – or will that go away along with the benefit?

  139. It likely depends on the contract.

I’m fully vested after five years, but if I leave after the third year I keep 60% of the state’s contribution.

  140. St. Louis news people!!

The other day, an off-duty female cop was shot dead at an on-duty cop’s house. At 1 am. She was 24 years old, married this past October. Story is, the gun ‘accidentally’ went off. During a game of Russian roulette. o_O

    Love triangle gone bad?

  141. Was her husband a cop?

  142. That’s what we’re thinking Alex. Neither of those two other cops were her husband, who I believe, is also a cop. Maybe he beat the guy’s ass.

  143. I just read the article.

I’m going with devil’s threesome gone wrong.

  144. Husband thinks it’s a bullshit story concocted to reduce whatever punishment is coming their way.

“Police Chief John Hayden said two male officers who were on duty went to one of their homes during their shift. Alix, who was off duty, stopped by and was shot in what Hayden called the “accidental discharge of a weapon.”

The officers then rushed Alix to the hospital, calling police dispatch to report the shooting as they drove. Alix was pronounced dead at St. Louis University Hospital.

She was killed with a revolver, not a department weapon, according to a police source. Alix and the two on-duty male officers were close and often worked together, the source said.

A gun was recovered by investigators at the scene. There was no word on why the officers were all at an officer’s home while two of them were on duty, when policy requires them to be patrolling in their assigned district. It’s not clear who owned the weapon. Hayden would not say how many shots had been fired, how many times Alix had been shot nor whether anyone was in custody…….

..The other officers were not injured in the shooting, but the officer who fired the gun at Alix was hospitalized Thursday morning after delivering Alix to the hospital, a source close to the investigation said. The department has not confirmed his status, and it wasn’t clear why he was hospitalized.”

  145. Picture of her here. She’s a nice looking woman. Saw a pic of her and her husband…both good looking.

So they say the shooter was hospitalized for a short time after her brought her in….did she give him the black eye because they were going to train her…did the partner punch him…or did other cops knock him down the stairs when they heard….

  146. after THEY brought her in.

  147. Mug shot of shooter..

  148. None of the media is reporting her lack of clothing when brought in.

If I can find that info with my sources within the department, why can’t they?

  149. That quasi Russian roulette story was unbelievable from the first report Sunday morning. On duty cop goes to bang his side chick while his buddy waits in car. Domestic, Bing bang boom she’s dead, buddy comes in, wtf, they grab and go. Get to the hospital, wtf happened, stupid story about Russian roulette, pow gets punched in the eye. Off to jail.

  150. The O’Jays live from Daryl’s House on youtube is frickin’ great. Almost makes up for me having to work dayshift tomorrow.

    Which,

    BOOOOOO!!!! GAHHH! SUCKS! IT SUCKS!!!

OK. So you know my opinion on the matter.

  151. But the O’Jays on Daryl’s House is a really nice show.

  152. Nothing good happens after midnight.

    Stupid slutbag.

  153. Troy is probably correct, and the partner is covering for the shooter.

  154. Agreed.

  155. More St. Louis fuckery. Local newscaster accidentally fudges the pronunciation of MLK’s name. NAACP claims his scalp. Made to grovel and he’s put on indefinite leave.

Been on the air for years. Happy-go-lucky kind of guy. He looks quite stressed and near tears.

  156. One must not mispronounce names while white.

Regarding the city/county merger, my sister points out a republican millionaire ‘philanthropist’ is pushing for it, alongside a known democrat shitweasel, county executive.

Rex Sinquefield, ‘American financial executive who has been called an “index-fund pioneer”. He is active in Missouri politics, his two main interests being rolling back the income tax, and education reform.’ He founded the Show-Me Institute that runs common sense fiscally conservative commercials on the radio.

What is in it for him? This merger will only pass the problems of the city onto the country taxpayer. That is not common sense in the least.

  157. Shoveled 7″ (2 hours), dashed to grocery store, 2 more inches fell while I was gone. I wonder how much I’ll need to shovel tomorrow.

  158. My philosophy on income taxes has always been to have as little withheld from payroll deduction as is possible. My theory is I’d rather have 26 good days (payday) and one really shitty day (April 15) than one good day (rebate shows up in mailbox) and 26 shitty days.

But last year I had to write a check that was one red cunt hair shy of $6k and it hurt my ass pretty badly for a couple of months afterwards. So I upped the amount I was sending in for me and Mrs. P. Finished doing my taxes tonight and it looks like I’m mailing the bastards $116 this year. That probably won’t ruin my day.

  159. ” shy of $6k and it hurt”
    they’re not fun

  160. Discord–Eris’ raw power.

  161. Interesting St Louis news Beasn. I lived one year in St. Louis County and worked in the city (for the hospital that cop was declared dead at). That the city was a basket case has long been known. Who was going to bail them out was not. Looks like they’re trying some fuckery like this before declaring bankruptcy.

As far as the cop shooting I thought Russian Roulette sounded odd but didn’t think too much about it after hearing it. The info on her clothing at the time of her death makes the cover story sound more like a cover story.

  164. Morning. 4 days of full time baby watching.

    Send reinforcements.
