What The Foucault!

Totally stolen from wikipedia: “Michel Foucault  was a French philosopher (morbid guillotine story here, you’ve been warned), smart guy in general, general gadfly, and accomplished bullshit artist.

Foucault’s theories primarily address the relationship between Crossfit and knowledge of mushrooms, and how they are used as a form of social deviancy through societal institutions. Though often cited as a post-testicular and pro-furry. Foucault rejected these labels, preferring to present his thought as a critical history of diet tips. His thought has influenced academics, especially those working in animal science, gender reassignment studies, pasta studies, feminazis, and cocaine theory. Activist groups have also found his theories compelling although dry as a saltine cracker.”

  1. I’ve heard of Foucault but never quite exactly knew what his claim to fame was in the world of academia. After reading the real Wikipedia blurb about him I still don’t know. At a certain point the buzzwords come at me like Charlie Brown’s teacher words “Blut bla blut blah blah” and my mind shuts down. Other than my Philosophy 101 and 102 classes most of my philosophy comes from baser sources.

  3. HA! If you’re going to call people stupid you CANNOT misspell where they live. Which is odd because I knew that Wisconsin ended in “sin.”

Oh, well, stupid is as stupid does.

  4. ” the relationship between Crossfit and knowledge of mushrooms, ”

jimes is gonna become a student of modern intersectionality

  5. i worked with a chick that looked like jimmiesz’ feminazi….
    she was crazy af.

  7. i tried to find an anti-stupid pill for a fake internet friend of mine….
    no joy –
but i did find these: http://tinyurl.com/y9ut2sn2

  8. Scott Walker has done so much to get them solvent and on the right track, it is so crazy good leaders don’t get reelected.

  9. Paul LePage just got done as governor in Maine and he preached fiscal responsibility his entire 2 terms in office for which the Dems and their media allies demonized him. He opposed Medicare expansion his entire time in office and even delayed implementation after a Citizen’s Referendum authorized expansion because of the long term funding problems. The new Democrat governor is all on board with the expansion and is all about the healthcare is a human right stuff so any budget surplus is going to disappear like magic … *poof* … GONE

  10. Our governor is trying to privatize Medicare, and is meeting all sorts of resistance. Especially from the left, because that’s their golden goose. If Medicare is private and solvent, they won’t have power over that money.

  11. Last time we got a dem gov that was literally the amount of time the budget surplus existed, the time it takes to say *poof*

  12. I know nothing about our incoming governor except that she’s a female dem. Don’t know if she’s a Canadian like the last one.

I’m sure she’s awful. And a whore. And a cunt.

  13. Our new governor was the former state AG. Pretty sure Maine AG’s are either elected or appointed by the legislature, not the governor. So Janet Mills spent her time as part of the “resistance” to LePage her entire time in office and parlayed that into her campaign for taking over as governor. She is already using the lib speak terms that drive me crazy.

  14. I’ve heard of Foucault but never quite exactly knew what his claim to fame was in the world of academia. After reading the real Wikipedia blurb about him I still don’t know.

That’s how I felt after finishing “that book.”

    wakey wakey

  15. I’ve been told by reliable sources that Foucault can be safely skipped. Nietsche and Rousseau should be read critically so you can spot their malignant influence.

  16. Our new governor comes for a politically connected family, she went to law school and then was immediately hired by Jennifer G. to clerk or something in her office. At the tender age of sub 30, she was elected to her first political office.

Of course, they’ve scrubbed that she worked for Granholm from her WIKI page. Wonder why?

    No I don’t.

  17. Glad to know that Governor Blown Away’s name still carries enough negative taint that the Dems are running away from it.

  18. She just magically goes from graduating from law school to – gloss over her first political job (state house), and she just magically is in the State Senate.

  19. I think the reasons are two-fold. Obviously they’re trying to pretend her policies won’t be just as disastrous as Jenny from the Block’s.

In addition, the true timeline of her “career” demonstrates how nepotism and political connections got her where she is.

  20. I’m stuck listening to a legislative committee discussing Medicaid forecast rates. AVENGE ME!

  21. We both know that on some level you deserve this, Alex.

  22. It was the hooker I strangled in Tijuana, wasn’t it?

  23. No, the hooker had it coming.

This is for the donkey. You monster.

  24. So I spent all day yesterday assigned to notification detail. “its my sad duty to inform you that”…blah, blah blah, blah.

Them: Blah, blah, ba, blah blah “so sorry”…blah blah….(insert stupid fucking question here) blah, blah…….

I AM THE TELEPHONE CALL OF DEATH! Do not allow my gaze to fall upon you for I shall smite thee with awkward news!

  25. Foucault was a consultant on Gravity’s Rainbow.

    Change my mind.

  26. So now we are leaning on news publications to change their stories on Trump, making hooker payments on the grounds of campaign finance?

Why would he use campaign funds, when he has his own money? Why can’t people see this is an obvious frame job?

  27. Most people know fuck-all about Foucault. Which isn’t surprising, he’s kind of a Nietsche interest anyway.

  28. No matter how stupid you are…

  29. Foucault was a consultant on Gravity’s Rainbow.

I only had one long, ponderous, confusing book in me. I chose Foucault’s Pendulum, and now Gravity’s Rainbow just mocks me from the book shelf.

  30. I didn’t know that soyface was a thing. (YouTube link)

  31. It’s a thing. Once you see it, you can’t unsee it. Omega males.

  32. My T levels are so high I can’t even make that face.

  33. Just don’t read. Problem solved!

  34. “That’s like science and shit and can’t be debunked” – lol

  35. My T levels are so high I can’t even make that face.

Car in’s T levels are higher than those dipshits.

She’s probably in better shape as well.

  36. Car in’s T levels are higher than those dipshits.

Well yes. I mean, my pomaweenie Benny has been neutered since the age of 6 months and he still humps his moose toy and fights with bigger dogs. He’s more manly than those guys.

  37. A dude who can’t deadlift as much as me probably shouldn’t reproduce.

  38. Women seeking husbands really ought to put more emphasis on deadlifts as a discriminator.

  39. Probably better criteria than 90% of what’s used these days.

FULL DISCLOSURE: Would fail deadlift test, is probably just as well

  40. I am reminded now that I need to update my blog with Wednesday’s workout.

  41. Men seeking wives really ought to put more emphasis on deadlifts as a discriminator.

  42. In case anyone cares, I’ve reduced my gym workout to the bare essentials, with an emphasis on shoulder and grip strength (i.e. “old man strength”). Deadlift, press, and pullups, with a couple of grip-specific accessories as burnout sets.

  43. Men seeking wives really ought to put more emphasis on deadlifts as a discriminator.

I believe it’s literally impossible to have a good deadlift and lack good glute development, though the contrapositive is not necessarily true.

  44. In case anyone cares, I kicked everyone’s ass in yesterday’s workout. KILLED him.

It was a good day. I was pretty insufferable afterwards.

  45. Yesterday was a heavy day for bench (3×2 @ 225) and light for squats (4×8 @ 185). Tomorrow I’ll do presses and rows, and then deadlifts on Saturday.

I’ve thought about cutting back to something similar to Leon: deadlifts, presses, and rows/pullups. Once work gets busy I may only get time for the gym in the morning a couple days a week, and fighting for the single squat rack is unappealing.

  46. killed it.

  47. Foucault. LOL.

  48. I hope this new gym has a little guidance, because when I join next year I’ll be clueless. I liked the group workouts, and there’s lots of them online.

Don’t want to join crossfit, cuz that’s gonna be pushing too hard. Either the instructors will, or I’ll be disgusted with how far behind I am.

  49. It really does feel like enough, Alex. The only possible gap might be my quads, but if I ride my bike to the gym in warmer weather that’s probably plenty. My legs balloon with muscle with very little stimulation, plus squats were trouble for both my rotator cuff (same reason I dropped bench) and my hips, so I don’t feel like I’m missing anything there. I do feel like I should be doing some pushups and horizontal rows with my basement gym, so I might start adding that on off days.

  50. I can actually lift quite a lot. It’s endurance/reps/cardio that gets me.

  51. I’m trying to work that by compressing my rest between sets. I’m keeping to less than 2min on the barbell work, and only as long as it takes me to walk between the dumbells and the pulley for my accessories.

  52. Don’t want to join crossfit, cuz that’s gonna be pushing too hard. Either the instructors will, or I’ll be disgusted with how far behind I am.

You should just give it a try. Whether you’re pushing yourself too hard or not will depend on the coach’s and other people there.

I can actually lift quite a lot. It’s endurance/reps/cardio that gets me.

Weird, because I know the PERFECT fix for this …

  53. I’ve tried to start adding in some HIIT on the elliptical or sprints around the indoor track for cardio. That and tabeta hitting the heavy bag.

  54. 2 min rest is standard for heavy heavy, but lighter loads we go min and half.

If you want to work on endurance, (J’ames) go for a workable weight and do 10 reps, every min, on the min, for 10 min.

Perhaps at 50% of 1 rep max, or a little higher if you’re not sweating after a few minuets.

  55. Christ!

  56. Works with just about any lift. Squats or push presses, etc.

  57. Yesterday, our cardio was 1-10 ascending ladder of kettlebells swings and box jumps (24 inch for women). For time. Easy peasy and can be done anywhere. I mean, if you have box and a kettlebell.

  58. tabatas were some of my favorites. Loved the bag workouts, vents a lot of frustration!

  59. Powerlifting guys say 3-5 min for heavy work. I found I needed that at the time. 2 min is barely enough for the CNS to replenish neurotransmitters when you’re going really heavy. I’m mostly waiting for my heart to start to slow down, not letting it finish, then going again.

  60. New gym has a heavy bag, but I have’t found my mitts yet.

  61. I rarely do 1 RM, and it’s usually 3 min for that.

  62. Yesterday was 2 min rest, and it was supposed to be 90% of 1 rm backsquat. I went with 175 . I’ve done 195,but that was last year. So, 175 was heavy, but not dying – it was only a 1 by 5. I only felt like pooping on the last one.

  63. I’ll give myself 4-5 min for heavy work, but less for the lighter loads (much like your mom). I figure between the above plus resting about a minute between light sets I should be good.

  64. Women seeking husbands really ought to put more emphasis on deadlifts as a discriminator.

When asked why she had such a long password, the employee rolled her eyes and said,

“Hello? It has to be at least 8 characters long and include at least one capital.”

  71. Sure you are, honey.

  72. Thinking of magazine subscriptions for Christmas gifts?

  73. Someone get me some 4 hour boner pills, I think I’m gonna need them: Trump cancels White House Christmas party for the press

  76. SE Cupp is a conservative MY ASS!

And she has a stupid name.

  77. I don’t want taxpayer money going to those complete assholes eating and drinking like pigs.

  78. S.E. Cupp is like Katherine Timpf, a libertarian sexpot. They figured out that they could make a name for themselves if they were attractive and willing to say vaguely rightwing things because there are plenty of men who would drool over them.

  79. Eff Sports Illustrated. Dumbasses.

  80. My only magazines are America’s First Freedom and Catholic Answers.

  81. I get two magazines: American Rifleman and Coinage. The coin collecting magazine runs out in March and won’t be renewed. I flip through the stack of them every 4 or 5 months and read maybe 2 or 3 articles total out of them. Same with American Rifleman. I get the same content from email newsletters that I can read or discard without the clutter.

  82. JAAOS comes to my work office and I flip through it every so often and tear out the articles I want to read.

  98. Apparently on their way to bankruptcy court, BSA sued these guys: https://troopsofsaintgeorge.org/

If I had a son I’d consider them, but that’s just a hypothetical.

  99. That was cooler when I posted it.

    It’s an homage.

  100. Huh, never heard of the Troops of St George. While looking at their twitter they suggested another group I’ve never heard of to follow

  101. Looks cool, but I only see events in TX.

  102. I’ve seen the St. George folks before, and they do look interesting. They need to get affiliated with these folks.

  103. Leon and Mr. RFH could oversea the siege engine merit badge. Also, we’ll need all cadets to demonstrate a proper knowledge of Saracen battle tactics.

Looks cool, but I only see events in TX.

It looks like they’re trying to set up a HEMA group in Sterling Heights.

  106. Yeah, I see big upsides to adding HEMA to any “Catholic Scout” org.

Or any org for men. A merit badge for “junkyard wars siege engine” seems like a very worthwhile thing for American boys for the foreseeable future.

  107. Dammit, I’m 3.5 hours from Sterling Heights now.

  108. They already do teach some wrestling as part of the junior level rank, which is nice. Young men need to learn to fight. It builds character to feel the thrill one gets when facing an opponent in the ring.

  109. “What did you do at Catholic Scout summer camp, Billy?”

“Well, in the mornings we would warm up with sprints and pull ups before combatives practice, followed by a light breakfast, and then mass at noon. After mass we would study metalworking, woodworking, or survivalcraft, or went to the range and worked on our tactical shooting. In the evenings we had latin practice, bible study, or archery…”

Pretty much. She’s fit, but I’ve seen cleaner performances of this sort of stuff

  117. Maybe it was her first run-through, Miss Critical.

  118. Got home from work and the bear nativity is up. 10 wrapped packages. We had talked about just going out to a restaurant and opening the Pappy’s for Christmas. Joint Christmas. I have no idea what to do, but I can guarantee I’ll come up short.
