  1. i hope your puppy gets better carin

  2. thanks. wakey wakey.

Last night’s update (I was at work) – things were heading in the right direction.

  3. Oh, that’s, at least, not negative news. Come on, Oschi!!

    Little (big) scamp.

  4. Good morning, fartknockers.

  5. do you have to be in the union to officially qualify for fartknocker-hood?

  6. International Brotherhood/Sisterhood/Xerhood of Fartknockers™

  7. I think of it more like a guild.

  8. so, liberal “dance” Phd professor. complaining about how her daughter is being educated regarding africa, etc. She takes one assignment, and who knows the context of the rest of the course, but what she seems really upset up is the references to AIDS and Africa (teaching racism, bla bla bla).

South africa has 7 MILLION people infected with aids. Anyway, I thought this comment, by her, was kind of funny.

“He’s one of 8 teachers my kid works with, and the others are very good. Most especially, and NOT surprisingly, my child’s excellent middle school dance teacher (one of our own alums), who has taught my child so much more about the roots of Africanist aesthetics in US dance/culture than the world culture teacher! So at least– YAY for UT dance alums out there changing the world through well-researched and contextualized dance teaching!!!!”

  9. I can learn everything I need to know about a culture through dance. I don’t need to know any of the icky stuff.

  10. You can, in fact, learn a lot about a culture by its dance.

Ballet is beautiful, twerking is ugly. I want a beautiful culture.

  11. The problem with learning anything through dance, is it’s complete lack of intellectual rigor. It means whatever your liberal professor says it means. Because of critical theory.

  12. Africa (or much of it) is a corrupt shit hole.

    Dance on that, bitch!

  13. Twerking isn’t a sexual movement signaling your willingness for casual sex. It’s a cry in the night against the injustices of the world and the demands to conform to oppressive cultural norms.

  14. My friends response:

Also, a pretty quick google search yields such better resources. This one is for high school students, but a savvy teacher could adapt it for middle schoolers: https://www.bu.edu/…/files/2016/02/Rachel-

    *****

It addresses the problem of the single story, emphasizes contemporary Africa, impact of colonialism, how images are impacted by prejudice and colonial narratives, etc.

  15. The ONLY thing that makes Africa bearable are the areas where colonialism has taken hold.

    Running water.
    Toilets
    highway systems

  16. Ok, climate change has impact on our lives, Max.

Now, can we do anything about it? I say no. The earth is doing what it wants, and nothing we are doing now is affecting it.

  17. Since we can’t have any input on what Africa does, we should just leave them completely alone. Actually, that will probably make our lives a lot easier.

  18. Which, naturally, Africa is rejecting like a bad organ transplant. With roughly similar results.

  19. I read an essay a while back in which an african dude was saying essentially that. The ONLY way africa is going to solve it’s problems is if the world stops “helping”.

  20. I read an essay a while back in which an african dude was saying essentially that. The ONLY way africa is going to solve it’s problems is if the world stops “helping”.

Kim Du Toit, “Let Africa Sink”.

    http://www.kimdutoit.com/2017/05/05/let-africa-sink/

  21. If I didn’t know better, I’d say Africa existed solely as a way for Leftists and idiots (BIRM) to waste our time, treasure, and energy on pointless feel-good “projects”.

Only thing that should head there…well I’d say missionaries, but before too much longer they may wind up sending them here

  22. You can, in fact, learn a lot about a culture by its dance.

Ballet is beautiful, twerking is ugly. I want a beautiful culture.

Actual African dance can be interesting. Twerking is just a bunch of ignorant savages having spasms.

  23. The problem with learning anything through dance, is it’s complete lack of intellectual rigor. It means whatever your liberal professor says it means. Because of critical theory.

There’s a lot that can be learned when dance is placed into a larger context, such as the role of certain dances in warrior societies, in passing along knowledge in a community, and the origins and growth of dances in the west among certain classes or groups (such as the waltz or Argentine tango). However, most of that crap isn’t going to be imparted to high schoolers, let alone middle schoolers.

  24. I don’t think the doctor things Oschi is going to make it . She mentioned “quality of life” . ugh.

  25. An English cartoon that my daughter likes has a “Boo Night” episode in one of the later seasons. It had a Christmas episode in the earliest season, but that was ten years ago now, before Sharia apparently leaned hard enough on the BBC to eliminate all actual Christian holidays.

  26. The only Christmas episodes the BBC can show must involve invading aliens.

  27. Apparently the THOTAudit guys did all their datamining with twatter hashtags used by camwhores.

It’s like a knife disarm followed by a stabbing.

  28. Sorry about your pooch, Carin.

  29. Wonder how much those “girls” were kicking back to the platforms? Because you gotta figure the whole reason it lasted this long was money.

  30. BC, part of the reason for THOTAudit, IIANM, is anger at the double standard by Twitch , who supposedly prohibited pornography but would allow these girls to do their “premium streams” because Twitch got a cut.

  31. “Quality of life” may be an intro to the discussion for the next time this happens

  32. My new fetish.

  33. Hope that’s it.

  34. Stupid phone

  35. George Ramos can go fuck himself. He’s a racist piece of shit, and someone should kick him in the nuts.

  36. Honestly, the Internet is sort of undergoing ghettoization…and the THOTs tried to work the wrong neighborhoods.

Human nature. It’s like it applies everywhere!

  37. More knife ideas from America’s Test Kitchen, Mare: https://is.gd/hfiL1F

I love ATK. They test everything pretty well. I don’t even care if they spam my email. I get a lot of great free recipes and advice that way.

  38. Home from jury duty. They released about 15 people out of the hundred or so there.

    I got lucky.

  39. Ace’s sidebar doesn’t like THOTAudit.

Not the first time that guy’s been dead wrong, but it’s disappointing.

  40. United Technologies just announced they are splitting up, spinning off Otis Elevator and Carrier Corp. Each will be run independently,

So the Dems announce their top 5 priorities for 2019.

    Tolls
    Legal pot
    Raise minimum wage
    Paid family leave
    Paid medical leave

and couple of days later, the largest employer in the state announces they are splitting up.

Smart money says UTC is out of here,

  41. “The problem with learning anything through dance, is it’s complete lack of intellectual rigor.”

imo you’re absolutely correct; comparison of dance styles lacks any kind of data normalization.

depending on the author it’s just a juxtaposition of stereotypes:

    Twerking (stylized sex) (http://tinyurl.com/ycw44rpj)
    vs
    Mosh Pit (stylized war) (http://tinyurl.com/ngqy5uy)

    or
    Tribal Dancing (Stylized War) (http://tinyurl.com/ycxakbzk)
    vs
Ballet (stylized sex) (pick one: A Midsummers night dream, the firebird. romeo and juliet, Giselle. Your Mom…)

  42. “Carrier Corp”

when NYS wouldn’t play ball with carrier in syracuse, carrier basically said fuck you. They demolished the buildings and turned the campus into soccer fields.
    http://tinyurl.com/y8zgw7rf

  43. *still reading through comments*

    *nods head….raffs and raffs*

I love you all very much.

Prayers to Car in and Oschi-girl. *hugs to you both*

  44. I LURVE ME SOME PICKLE!!!

    (your whore mouths…shut them)

  45. so, liberal “dance” Phd professor. complaining about how her daughter is being educated regarding africa, etc.

Liberal dance professor can go f*ck herself in Africa. I’d pay for her one-way ticket to that shithole dump. Idiot.

  46. I’m useless today. Just walking around the house crying. Ugh.

I just wish someone was HOME with me.

  47. There are still tons of commercials on the teevee showing starving African children and could you please find it in your heart to share just $10 a month to help feed Simba? I turn to my kids and tell them how we’ve been seeing the same commercials since I was a wee lass. Now ask themselves WTF? All of it is man-made via their despotic thieving ‘leaders’ and the more $$ you send, the richer they – and those organizations making the commercials – get.

I especially like the one where they mention, in such a depressed, soulful, voice how a starving 18 month old has just days to live….while being held by his very healthy well-fed looking mother…….

  48. Many of those charities are some of the worst run.

  49. None of you are starving Africans, so you can’t criticize.

  50. Car in, I’m sorry hon. Would it help to go sit with Oschi for a bit? Maybe take Moose so he can sniff what’s up?

  51. *reads part of Car in’s link*

    I can’t even.

  52. Oh Carin, I’m so sorry. Wish I could be there hugging you right now.

  53. When we started saving the starving Somalis there were like 7 million of them, now we are saving 10 million starving Somalis….this makes no sense to me. What was the old Sam Kinnison skit about living in a desert?

  54. Something about sending them suitcases so they could move to where the food was.

  55. I dislike (who doesn’t) having to make the “decision” when it comes to quality of life decisions for my beloved pets. I hold my pets in much higher regard than I extend to most humans. My pets have always been loyal, pure, and innocent. The decision process has always left me feeling dirty or complicit even when I knew in my heart it was the right thing to do

Prayers for Oschi and Car In….You have my sincere wishes for comfort and grace.

  56. Back when he had hair.
    Shows how old I am

  57. also when he was alive

  58. Honestly, a big part of the problem in places like Africa is that the resources are either diverted/misallocated or just plain leveraged as weapons against rivals. You would literally have to have someone else go in and run everything for them. Which…y’know, I think that’s been tried.

That or just replace the local culture. Again…tried and sabotaged.

Don’t it suck to fight human nature?

  59. Awesome clip. Same shit up in Canada with the former Inuit. Why is the government keeping them as pets and making taxpayers pay for $6 heads of lettuce and $20 bricks of cheese to feed these people? Spend the money and move them to where affordable food is available. WTF?

  60. Christmas tip

  61. Or cut off the money and they’ll move themselves or go back to hunting seals.

  62. Moose knows I need him.

  63. Jay, beating your kids is less damaging.

  64. More knife articles for mare to chop up her husband:

  65. Jay, beating your kids is less damaging.

Or, go into a restaurant, set 5 $1 bills on the table, and tell the waitress (server, fine) that one bill goes away with every mistake. That’s sure to work, right?

  66. Mare is a scam.

  67. tips are a scam

  68. beat your servant (server, fine) till they get it right

  69. mj’s morning

  70. Carin, sorry about little Oschi.

    Thank you, Jay!

  71. Mare will be getting kitchen knife tips for years. Her daughters will reap their inheritance in steel.

  72. (((((hugs))))) to you, Carin. Amazing how much we love and care for our sweet pets. I can’t read that article about the mother perpetrating child abuse on that kid. The world is effed.

  73. I knew I could count on you guys to give me good advice about the knives. He’s really eyeballing the Wusthof. But Jay linked the other brand and it was a kick-ass deal. Regardless I, of course, will not be allowed to handle the knife, which is fine with me.

  74. I thought I had Henckles, but I just checked and they’re Wusthof. I think I have a few Henckles – steak knives.

  75. Sam Kinison was killed at the age of 39 by a drunk 17 year old who was driving the wrong way.

This was 6 days after Kinison got married.

The drunk 17 year old got sentenced to one year probation and 300 hours of community service.

    That is pretty effed up.

  76. Not guilty

    (Unrelated to Sam Kinison)

  77. Pretty sure my knife block is stuffed with Henckels blades. There’s a few random Victorinox and a Spyderco kitchen knife in there.

  78. If it happened today, the kid would’ve been doxxed.

  79. More knife articles for mare to chop up her husband

    Made me snortle.

  80. “He’s really eyeballing the Wusthof. But Jay linked the other brand ”

    Get him one of each.

  81. After reading Ace’s poat on Ben Shapiro, I’ve been thinking about Little Ben Shapiro and Jonah Goldberg and the like, and I think that what connects them is that they’re all Second-Generation Conservatives.

First Generation – Primarily anti-Soviet liberals as well as religious conservatives from the end of WWII to about the late seventies. Think Irving Kristol, William F. Buckley, Newt Gingrich, Ronald Reagan. They built the modern conservative movement, both in terms of political organization as well as much of the ideological and cultural institution that exists today.

Second Generation – Late seventies to early aughts. These were the conservatives who came up in conservative families (Bill Kristol, Jonah Goldberg) or who saw a resurgence of conservatism on campuses and in the public square. They benefitted from the conservative magazines, think tanks, and the jobs working for the Republican majority in Congress and writing at a time when the Clintons were useful foils. However, the end of the Cold War also started to strain some conservative alliances, as the more libertarian wing of the party starts to push back against the social conservative wing.

Third Generation – The current generation who came of age in the Obama years. They’re views are shaped by the increasing stridence of the left, as well as the failure of second-gen conservatives to push back and win. The institutions that were so important to second gen conservatives, such as the magazines, the think-tanks, etc., aren’t important to third-gen conservatives, who prefer blogs, social media, and alternative media such as podcasts and youtube.

The first generation often developed the ideological foundations that the second gen refined and repeated to their benefit. The third generation is starting to question those foundations, and push back against them. Additionally, whereas the first generation has the Soviet Union as a foil, the third generation has the social justice movement. The result has been the alt-right.

    Also, $20.

  82. “Not guilty”
i thought it was gonna turn out she was a he…
getting drunk and pissing on a tree – whoo boy, if i got arrested everytime i did that in the past….

mehta is a subcontinent name. i’ve known a few (not biblically)

  83. Husband just got the estimate for the electrician. $4100. Ho-lee shit.
It was to put in smoke detectors, move a few outlets, do some whozeewhats in the attic space, add a few outlets, rewire some stuff (so that we can turn on livingroom lights as you come in front door and not have to walk over to the kitchen)….make stove and dryer four pronged.

That’s not counting grounding every outlet in the joint which husband decided to do himself.

He’s telling me now that it can’t be that hard to run wire through the place. Then suggested flying in his buddy’s brother, the electrician.

I’d prefer a professional – like the brother – do the work. That way it gets done in one or two days and only one trip to the store.

  84. That’s a grand pricier than all of the electrical we had installed in the basement apartment.

  85. Oschi is doing better!!!!!!

  86. America’s Test Kitchen likes them some Victorinox knives. $25.

    https://tinyurl.com/y7968slc

  87. YAY Oschi!!

  88. Woo hoo Oschi! Here’s hoping for the best!

  89. Car in, what if you blended up her food with some water or cream or something. If her meals were more like shakes or soup would that help?

  90. Oh, thank God! I was worried about Oschi and in turn worried about Carin’s reaction to a not good outcome and choices to be made.

    I’ll keep praying though.

  91. I was trying to find out for sure what steel Victorinox uses. Supposedly they use AEBL in the paring knives. I got a bunch of the paring knives off of Amazon for $5 to $6 each. They are really fantastic knives, especially the serrated ones. I originally started using them after a big hunting outfit got me to make Kydex sheaths for their guides. They would give the guides these to field dress elk and deer. At under $10 they were treating them as disposable. Use it for a season, or a hunt, then pick up a new one.

  92. Thank you, Pepe! I could definitely use a good paring knife.

  93. My husband is going hunting in January and I’m getting him one of those!

  94. Thanks Mare 🙂 We’re going to lose her way before her time- and we “know” that. We’re just not ready yet. 😦

  95. She really has a pretty good quality of life for her issues. When she’s not sick, she uses the crap out of the lungs that she has.

Well, I’m obviously second generation – not writer, but “conservative”. I honestly think that withing the “writing”/commentary world – they sort of have a bubble. They have made “friends” with people not of their ilk. It affects them. They still don’t want to be excluded. For someone like me, there is no bridge burning. I can let my full freak flag fly.

  97. I also think the libertarian wing isn’t held to ideologically stringent standards they should be.

  98. The generational thing is more about conservative commentators and such, the professional conservative class, as opposed to the everyday American conservative. The idea is that second generation conservative commentators benefited from the network of magazines, think-tanks, and conservative politicians. Guys like Shapiro and Goldberg could make a name for themselves relatively young by challenging the left on campus, or in the Clinton Administration, and had a the above network to support them. But they mostly just rehashed the ideology of the first-gen conservatives. That worked at first, but by the early aughts it was starting to break down. Iraq and Afghanistan disillusioned a lot of younger conservatives, and the failure of the GOP to mount a credible opposition to Obama left a lot of younger conservatives questioning whether establishment conservative ideology could provide a path to victory.

The libertarians were allies of the right because the Soviet Union and the lure of communism were a greater threat. With that gone, libertarians started to shift left due to their greater focus on social freedoms, which often made them allies with younger progressives. This is basically my triangle model of US politics that I’ve mentioned before.

  99. I don’t get Ace picking a fight with Shapiro.

  100. Hotspur, is your boat on land for the winter?

  101. Saw stories about 18 foot waves on Lake Michigan.

Here it’s news if we get white caps on a lake.

  102. Yep, it’s inside a warehouse building in Arcadia, MI – winterized and hopefully mouse-proofed.

  103. The Great Lakes are nasty this time of year. Biggest waves I’ve ever been in were 8-10s. Very scary.

  104. Shapiro is either a windsock or controlled opposition, Hotspur, and deserving of mockery until he can prove otherwise. He’s a con$ervative, at best.

  105. Right, but everyone knows this. With so much else to focus on, why pick a fight with someone who has over a million subscribers?

Ace’s responses were picayune at best. The entire post was beneath him.

  106. And I don’t agree that Shapiro needs to “prove otherwise”. I take a man at his word, and he’s said little that I can’t agree with.

  107. i been in 6-8 footers on lake ontario when storms blow across from canada.
    it’s very unpleasant.
lots of weekend admirals find their boats on the bottom in stuff much bigger than that.

  108. 6-8s are still no fun because the cadence of the waves is so short it’s like being in a washing machine.

  109. See it from Ace’s seat. Shapiro has an enormous, undeserved audience, and makes money hand over fist being a cuckservative advocating for the deplatforming of real voices on our side. Ace is punching up at a worthwhile target from both a market share and ideological perspective.

  110. And, importantly, everyone doesn’t know it, not yet, because Benny boy still sells books.

  111. little jammette had a scrimage tonight.
    she done good.

it was against her travel team coach’s varsity team.
he walked onto the court and hugged her and told her she was doing well about midway thru.

his girls for the most part mauled everyone but jammette and 2 other girls. she was scowling like an axe murderer and made a couple of the girls her beotch.

    i raffed

  112. I take issue with the word undeserved. He does his podcast. He used to be an editor at Breitbart, and he goes around to all of the YAF events who invite him, which are numerous.

When did making a lot of money become a negative on our side?

Ace punching up, in this case, is hurting his own brand.

  113. If you lied to get it, you dont deserve it, I don’t care how much shoe leather you’ve burned through. Maybe Ace is just trying to shame Shapiro into living up to his purported principles.

  114. january spawn sale:
    http://everythingmushrooms.com/mushroom-spawn/

    if i had room in a basement….

  115. Sean!!!!
do you have any room at your place?

  116. Spawn sale!?

*clicks link like it owes him money*

  117. damn, that pecan pie bread pudding takes FOREVER to bake!

  118. Y’all need to watch Narcos

  119. Can’t, too busy replaying Fallout 4. Tried to start reading Nicomachean Ethics earlier and didn’t make it past the translator’s prologue.

  120. Ace has been doing this for a long time, and I suspect that some of it is anger over watching people he came up with in the conservative new media strike it big by, in his mind, selling out while he’s remained loyal and hasn’t gotten rich.

  121. Trying to explain mi familia connection to the Mexican cartel that killed Kiki and facilitated the cocaine connection to Dan: NO SPOILERS. (How is basic history considered spoilers)

  122. I’m watching season 3 of The Last Kingdom before my netflix account expires.

  123. Deals everywhere! Retail pandemonium!
