Hostage Lemon Party

It’s summertime and summertime means lemon party time. Everyone loves to squeeze their favorite fruit this time of year. What goes better on a hot day than a nice cold glass of lemonade?

  3. Talk with Erin didn’t go badly – it just … we need to take little bites at this.

  4. Did she miss your point entirely or ragequit the conversation?

  5. WTFITS??!?

  6. The kids were mostly all here yesterday before I went to work and there was much floating in the lake . It was very nice. Work (as I mentioned) kicked my ass. I got home and Oschi was running through the woods like a crazy dog- grrr.

I don’t know if it was the fireworks, or the fact that it riled up the woodland creatures. She’s a hunter. Lectured the teens at home that you DO NOT LET DOGS OUTSIDE WHEN THERE ARE FIREWORKS GOING.

Manager offered some take-out that didn’t get picked up at the end of the night. Probably couldn’t make it because they close a road near us – whatever. It was a filet and a ribeye, so at first I was excited. Then I learned they were ruined (well done – who DOES that?). Brought them home anyway to give to the dogs.

  7. No, she listened. And didn’t get mad. It’s just if I dump a whole lot on her at one point, then she … stops listening. I’m a tad sneakier. Lecture /discussions about the other kids … but with tidbits that are really intended for her.

It went well, it’s just not “done”. So I guess it’s not really a come to jesus talk – because it’s more of a slow roll out.

  8. Future daughter-in-law is visiting. So far, so good.

I’m very thankful that she is religious (Catholic) and conservative. Beasn, FDIL says they are getting married in the old cathedral in STL.

My godson’s sister is getting married this fall to a liberal twit. They have been shacked up for four years, and the wedding is a civil ceremony. Twit lists his religion as Jedi. I don’t have good vibes from this.

  9. Twit lists his religion as Jedi.

    Fundamentally unserious.

If you don’t have a grandchild < 12 months after the wedding with FDIL, I'd be shocked.

  12. Glad to hear it is going well, Roamster. I imagine conservative/religious potential wives are pretty hard to come by these days, good for Rocketman.

  13. what’s a lemon party? bonus points if mare explains it.

  14. Leon, I gotta wrap my brain around that. Rocketboy did say they have talked about having kids.

  15. At Missouri-Rolla, no less. I told him being able to cook would be a big advantage in dating.

  16. I imagine conservative/religious potential wives are pretty hard to come by these days, good for Rocketman.

A fact often lamented by the young men of Gen Z. “I just want to find a good woman who hasn’t slutted herself out and get married and raise a family, but there aren’t any.” They post pictures of intact families as a sort of… well, porn I guess. It’s something they desperately want but know or believe that they’ll never really have.

  17. I’m darker than Shaun King. I’m of German, Irish, and English descent, basically the whitest genome that isn’t Scandi.

I’m still darker. Dude needs to get some sun.

  18. Last night, at work one of those girls who represents everything we hate showed up and wanted to hang/watch the fireworks. We actually get an ok view from out outside patio at work, and often those who close just sit and watch.

I had zero interest hanging with her. It’s funny because she simply doesn’t understand why she can’t find some nice guy .

Umh … it’s because you’re a complete whore. You CELEBRATE IT.

This girl HATES Erin. I don’t know why. She’s terribly mean to her. I think it’s because Erin is young, pretty (something this gal is quickly losing) and isn’t following in a similar path. Erin has her faults, but she’s not into the hook-up culture at all. And man whores have zero chance with her, and she will know. NB /Heysus – has pretty much never dated. That’s what I heard – that erin is his first girlfriend.

The one thing that really prevented Erin from forgiving NB/flippy hair when he was trying so hard to get her back is that she found out that he’d hooked up with other girls while they were broken up. That just disgusted her.

  19. FDIL’s parents are still married. There was a conversation about how many of their friends are from broken homes.

  20. Which makes me think of the shit-test again.

  21. A fact often lamented by the young men of Gen Z. “I just want to find a good woman who hasn’t slutted herself out and get married and raise a family, but there aren’t any.” They post pictures of intact families as a sort of… well, porn I guess. You mean covering yourself with tattoos, having a child out of wedlock, hopping into bed with guy after guy, and declaring that you are some sort of “strong, capable” woman who doesn’t need a man doesn’t attract quality husband material? Shocking…

  22. Killed the poat.

  23. You mean covering yourself with tattoos, having a child out of wedlock, hopping into bed with guy after guy, and declaring that you are some sort of “strong, capable” woman who doesn’t need a man doesn’t attract quality husband material? Shocking…

They’ve been told over and over again by pop culture that they have complete license and the Prince will still come. That was always the Big Lie of 3rd wave feminism.

  24. The beauty of 3rd wave feminism is it’s ability to blame everything else for it’s shortcomings.

  25. 15 mins killing the poat? Au Contraire!

  26. The gal at work isn’t covered with tats and doesn’t have a child. She is no less an acceptable partner. She is actually … one of the worst potentials that I personally know.

Another gal at work had a child (no tats and wasn’t really on the guy after guy train) with some guy who she eventually realized was a loser. But now (her kid is 6, I think?) she has met a guy with young children and they seem really cute and happy together.

Personally, I think it’s not the kid or the tats. It’s the slutty behavior. There aren’t a TON of people out there who are virgins on their wedding day, and a young woman who has the baby – perhaps with someone whom they thought they had a future with … or even if was a one-night stand … certainly belongs in a different category than the slut who probably just aborted or knew enough to take her pill regularly between tinder hook-ups.

What I’m saying, is that not all single moms get piled together. Or belong in that group of tatted-up sluts.

Having a child, and being responsible (big emphasis on the second part) actually puts you Waaaay in a different category.

  27. I’m too tired to do anything yet today, but the internet is boring.

  28. All right. Whatever. I’m going to find a project or something. Everyone must have a life today.

  29. impatient bunch today

  30. Having a child, and being responsible (big emphasis on the second part) actually puts you Waaaay in a different category.

Having a kid without being married is never responsible.

  31. did anyone ever find star spangled ding dongs?

  32. I was watching all the videos in TiFW’s poat.

    https://kochstour.com/2018/07/05/top-10-ok-11-tips-on-surviving-your-high-school-reunion-2/

  33. A single-mother is evidence that bad decisions were made. I’d be hesitant. Plus, and this is wholly my horrible nature, I don’t care about other people’s kids.

Large tattoos (full back, sleeves covering arms or legs) are a sign of underlying issues. Women modify their bodies to try and gain control of their emotional turmoil. Hence why some women cut themselves, or others cut their hair to signify some major change in their lives. A woman who feels the need to ink large portions of her body is trying to escape something in her past by changing her appearance, or she’s addicted to the adrenaline rush. Either way… warning sign.

A moron friend has a friend who is 30 and cute, but she has a massive tattoo across her back. She constantly dates losers.

  34. Having a child, and being responsible (big emphasis on the second part) actually puts you Waaaay in a different category.

Having a kid without being married is never responsible.

I conceded that, I’m pretty sure. I also tried to point out that there are a heck of a lot of people who aren’t as pure as the wind driven snow, but manage to hide their misdeeds. Can’t hide a kid, and a woman who mans up to her mistakes and becomes a better person in order to be responsible … is in a completely different category than the typical tinder slut. Being a mom doesn’t make you a good person automatically. But i similarly don’t believe that somehow NOT having a child (while perhaps behaving badly) puts you ahead of those women who have been “punished” with a child.

And i’m not saying you HAVE to date a woman with a child. Just that wholesale dismissal of women because some list that supposedly determines their character – may cause you to overlook something special.

  35. A moron friend has a friend who is 30 and cute, but she has a massive tattoo across her back. She constantly dates losers.

I’m saying it’s her attraction to losers that’s the issue, and not so much the tat. Mutually exclusive? Maybe. I dunno. I’m sure there’s big overlap on the VEnn.

  36. She has no choice. Nobody enjoys looking at that shit.

  37. I’m saying it’s her attraction to losers that’s the issue, and not so much the tat. Mutually exclusive? Maybe. I dunno. I’m sure there’s big overlap on the VEnn.

Her underlying issues are a messed up family and insecurity. I guess at one point my friend tried to set us up, but the girl and her mom went on my FB page, saw the picture of me with a woman friend, and decided that I was unacceptable because the mom thought that I was in love.

Massive tats are like colorful markings on a snake: a warning sign to stay away and don’t try to play with it.

  38. Massive tats are like colorful markings on a snake: a warning sign to stay away and don’t try to play with it.

    Same for Crayola hair colors.

  39. One of the high school moms has her niece living with her. Massive chest tattoo, and she wears low-cut blouses to show it off, then she turns around and complains about her student loan debt. Um, maybe you should have paid on the loan instead of getting the tattoo. Those can’t be cheap.

and a woman who mans up to her mistakes and becomes a better person in order to be responsible … is in a completely different category than the typical tinder slut.

    Hear, hear.

  40. The vast majority of humans are dumb as a box of fucking rocks when they are 18 – 25. Very dangerous creatures (mostly to themselves) I find that when coaching / counseling my son that I almost have to play it like “it was his idea” before I can get him to internalize what Im feeding him. Little fuckers still have a rebellious switch that must be avoided.

  41. Boys need that independent streak, though. Better to get it working for you than to try and crush it. It’s the source of the audacity he needs to be a man. To hit on girls, to pass shit tests, to take apart a lawnmower and fix it when it breaks, to set his course in life, he’s gonna need it for all that.

  42. Channeling it without turning it into rebellion has got to be tough.

  43. There’s a hefty dust storm on Mars right now that is not only interfering with the Opportunity rover, it’s changing the landscape.

That practice doesn’t apply just to teenagers. It is also applicable to 90% of adults.

  45. There’s a hefty dust storm on Mars right now that is not only interfering with the Opportunity rover, it’s changing the landscape.

There’s a (lot of) reason(s) why Bob Zubrin says solar is a terrible idea for a Martian base.

  46. Curiosity has a nuclear power source. If we’re going to do that for exploration, we need to crank up Oak Ridge and/or Savannah River and soon.

  47. I read the Martian Chronicles and there were plenty of reasons in there why Mars colonization is a bad idea.

    Well said, Leon.

There is much knowledge to be gained at H2 (as well as STDs, fungus, bad habits, filthy mouth syndrome, scabies and carpal tunnel)

  52. FDIL says they are getting married in the old cathedral in STL.

Had to look which one that was. It’s the one near the Arch. Nice.
I thought it may be the other Basilica, which is more ornate, where most parish kids get confirmed.

  53. FDIL’s parents are still married. There was a conversation about how many of their friends are from broken homes.

Went to a reunion of sorts with some of Mr. Beasn’s college teammates and coach, at a winery. The guy who put it together got rather tipsy and as we were parting ways, bear hugged the shit out of us with, “I love you guys. You all are still married after all of these years because you all are good people that found good people.” (Us, coach/wife, other teammate/husband)

Thinking of all of our close friends and semi-friends, in the circle, maybe three were divorced. Two of those remarried. Most remain married. Thinking of our kid’s closest friends…most of their parents are still married.

Now acquaintances and neighbors are a different story.

  54. ^^The guy who put it together found out this past year that he has a five year old daughter from a fly by night relationship. 50 years old. Never married. He has started to pay child support and in return wants the summers with her…..or the school year. He’s giving the woman a choice. Not sure how that will turn out for him.

  55. Oh BOO. My husband took his mom to see his dad. He just ran home to get the hair clippers so he can cut Pop’s hairs.

He said Pops cried upon seeing them, ‘Oh, I’m so glad you came!’
Like with tears. He really wants to come home and we really want him here, but we are not equipped for his needs. It takes 4 people to move him safely (he’s not fat…he’s just dead weight because zero strength) or 2 people and a harness. This is breaking Mr. B’s heart and makes his mom cry. Other than when he travels for work, my husband goes to see him every day.

Unfortunately, he was always a get up and move and do things kind of guy. No hobbies..no books..no puzzles. Now that he’s bedridden, it’s just him and the television and he’s lonely.

  56. We had ten people for a July 4th party yesterday. It was brutally hot – mid 90s – and the sun was unrelenting. Four people threw in the towel and retreated to the living room. The rest of us had to keep shifting our chairs to stay in the little shade there was.

I grilled burgers and hot dogs. Man, that sapped me of all of the heat tolerance I had. Spent the evening just motionless in a chair.

    But it was fun.

  57. Beasn, I am amazed that your FIL has lasted this long. It sounded like he was on his way out months ago. My apologies if this comes across wrong.

  58. One of my lefty friends complimented me on all the little flags I had stuck in the ground all over the yard yesterday. Then he said something like, “Long live our great democracy!!!”

I said, quit being so jingoistic.

  60. Misery.

  63. Car in has all of Toxic Nationalism’s albums.

  64. I drove their tour bus when I was in college.

  65. I knew Toxic Nationalism was out of ideas when it put that album of cover songs out.

  66. Boys need that independent streak, though. Better to get it working for you than to try and crush it. It’s the source of the audacity he needs to be a man.

I get it. I do. I just don’t know how to make it work for me, I end up being the villain in the movie of their lives.

  67. I’d watch a Scarlett Johansson movie of her eating nachos for 2 hours.

  68. The way to make it work is to find a way to increase the effects of their choices on their life. Responsibility. Etc. So that YOU’re not the villian – life is. And – you know, life’s a bitch/life’s not fair bla bla bla.

  69. I’d watch a Scarlett Johansson movie of her eating nachos for 2 hours.

I don’t get this at all. She’s reasonably attractive, but I’d make her eat crackers at the kitchen table like a civilized person.

  70. I wonder how many times MJ has moved or changed jobs this summer.

  71. Has MJ had his sex change operation yet? I assume that’s why he’s been too busy to visit.

  72. MJ Who?

Heh heh…..Black Lives Matter and a Commie Priest are planning on protesting Saturday on the Chicago Expressway. Things could get intersting.

  73. beasn, that sounds so much like what happened to my dad it’s making me sad. He went from an active, healthy, sharp person to a fading husk sitting watching TV all day. I swear to God, I may have had to take his keys away, but him no longer being able to drive and do the things he loved killed him as certainly as his heart or the dementia.

Hopefully, someday I’ll forgive myself. Everyone else already did.

  74. I grilled burgers and hot dogs. Man, that sapped me of all of the heat tolerance I had. Spent the evening just motionless in a chair.

I know the feeling. More than a week of well over 100° heat index and humidity in the 90s has drained me of all energy. And most of my appetite.
Rain came for a brief little while today and cooled it down for a bit but the sun is back out with a vengeance. Just made the humidity worse.

  75. We’ve had teh heat as well, nowhere near what you all have had but it’s all relative. AC for homes in Maine is uncommon except for maybe a window unit. Last 3 nights at home I’ve had just a fan for cooling and I’m feeling it. Crazy guest is gone and I’m back at camp where we have the AC … woohoo 🎉

  76. I’m on the porch with my doggie and enjoying a cold PBR, listening to the waves on the shore. Life is grand.

  77. I wish I could go outside. I have to wait until almost sunset to even consider it.
But I will join you & the doggeh for a cold drink. Got any cigars?

  78. The old dog did a new trick in the OR today. There’s a condition called a SCFE where the femoral head separates from the femoral neck through the growth plate. Happens mostly in fatties. Some people pin both sides even if only one has slipped. I prefer pinning the symptomatic side and using surveillance on the other side. Maybe 1 in 10 get the other hip pinned. Today I had my first bilateral SCFE that needed both sides done at the same sitting. I used a different technique that I’ve only read about before. I was shocked at how well it went. I probably spent as much time checking my work as I did for the actual pinning because I felt like it was too easy.

  79. Sorry for getting mopey earlier. Guess recovering from the dental extractions is throwing my mood way the hell off.

  81. Good deal, Jimbro.

  82. BroCavil, it’s okay. Dad gave up his keys voluntarily after an accident, and I am grateful I didn’t have to take them away. It is hard to see the man who I always thought was tall and strong turning frail.

BTW, I will be visiting Dad, might be able to meet you either Friday the 20th or Sunday the 22nd. Mini-me will be with me. Will know more this week, like if this is actually going to happen on time.

Vmax, I will be back in Houston the 17th, 18th, and 19th. Hope to see you.

  83. On my porch, with my doogie, drinking a PBR……shitfire, you got you the makings for a country moosic song.

  106. From the FB group #Walkaway:
(I really should give this person credit, but I’m not sure they would want it known outside the group. Anyhoo, $20 up front.)

I sit here entering my 24th hour on this page and something hits me like a train.

Perhaps its my upbringing in Podunk Nowhere Texas in the 80’s. Perhaps its because i spent my whole adult life dedicated to the traditional belief of what America was, by serving as an American Army Soldier for 22 years.

However, as i look out onto the masses that have gathered here to share their stories of self realization, attaining that new level of self awareness, and redefining the coloqolism (sp?) “Woke” as we are all apparently waking up from a horrible nightmare.

I see Black Men and Women, i see folks like Mitch a former Antifa member, who was pro everything leftist, coming here and being recieved with warm open arms from the rednecks and “Nazis” as a brother.

I see rednecks whom would normally be percieved as racist, shouting words of encouragement to the Conservative Black Men and Women who live “behind enemy lines”.

Former Soldiers greeting hipsters, Militant Gay folks greeting middle class straight white men, evangelicals, and athiests all gathering under this banner Brandon set up.

And i am forced to wonder, maybe its not just coincidence that this movement starts taking off on the week we celebrate our Independence.

242 years ago a small gathering of states.. all manner of folk declared in a single voice that we were no longer going to live under the dogma and yoke of the Brittish Crown. Which led to a series of events that led to the meteoric rise of the American People on the World Stage.

Today, 242 years later,we find the American Culture, on the brink of another civil war. As many of the common threads that have bound us together as a civilization have been demonized, find increasingly less things to hold us together. Things like the American Flag.

Yet, what i see here is another relatively small group of humans from all walks of life. Blacks, Whites, Hispanics, Gay, Lesbian, catholic Athiest……. Humans…. gathering together, to declare yet again in one Unified Voice that Real America isnt beat yet. We declare our independence from the hate and the rhetoric that divides us. We embrace what has made America Great in the past and will make America even greater in the future… The Individual..

I submit to this page that it is meerly not enough to sit here and bask in the glow this page has created. We must do more. Not necessarily to Grow Trumps ranks.. that is not my goal. (Though i will gladly vote for him again). My goal is simply to aid in the mass defection of my american brothers and sisters OFF THE DEMOCRATIC PLANTATION.

For as good and wholesome as this page is, it is important to remember that our brothers and sisters are still deeply indoctrinated, to the point that physical violence is being encouraged in some political circles. A second American Civil war is still a possibility.

I am not sure what will be the weapon of choice to fight this war will be. But i do know how this war will be won.

This war is a war against hate. And the Good Doctor Martin Luther King, was possibly the best general in prior wars against hate.

In that he understood that when fighting against hate the only weapon that is effective is the weapon of love. When becoming hateful and using hate to fight hate, the only side that wins is the darkness.

We must actively seek out our brothers and sisters in the darkness and show them the light. We must show them that there is more that binds us and makes us similar, than what makes us different. We have to show them what liberty for all really looks like. We, The People, through our oratory skills, must engage in this cultural shift, help to educate, never to hate the opposing side.

I do not accept the societal labels applied to me. I am not a white middle class male. My only label i accept is “American”. I hope you all will join me in shedding your labels.

  107. FB #Walkaway passed 75,000 members today.

  108. That was good Roamy!

Beasn, I am amazed that your FIL has lasted this long. It sounded like he was on his way out months ago.

We and he thought so too. He did not want to linger or be a ‘drooling mess’ (his words). He will have lucid days but most of the time, Mr. B. has to remind him why he’s there. Most days he’s very confused and it’s like we’re all a part of some dream he’s having. He’s even said that on a good day…he told my husband that he’s been having some really weird dreams.

So, he’s in and out of it. His body refuses to give it up. He and my MIL are beside themselves with that $9900/month bill. She’s worried if he hangs on too long, there will be no savings left for her.

But every day, even in the dreamy ones, he asks, ‘When you going to get me out of here?’ or…’Who’s going to come get me?’

  109. A front moved through the MO oven late this afternoon. Winds were fierce but alas, it brought us no rain. The temps dropped though. It should be mid 80s on Saturday. Too bad it won’t be that tomorrow.

We are going to help beasnette move back home. Rented a truck. Cleared the dining room the best I could so we can move in and store her furniture and stuff there.

    It gonna be hot.

Then she will have some time to either find an apartment nearer her new job….or figure out if she can stay here to save some money in order to look for/buy a house, instead.

  110. Brother Cavil, my FIL still gets pissy about his keys but he and certainly his sons would have felt a lot worse had he killed someone. You would have too.

    Our bodies…our machines…eventually break down. It’s life.

  112. Mom’s surgery went well. New valve in place. Dr used a groin vein after originally ruling them out. I’m getting nagged by a few of her sisters for being a bad daughter and not visiting her in Roswell. Roamy, I love all the mosaics at the St Louis Cathedral. The old Cathedral is ok. Dan’s mom grew up in South STL. ST Margaret was her parish.

  113. Glad to hear that your mom’s surgery went well, oso.

  114. And sometimes we would spend the night
Just rolling about on the floor (just rolling about on the floor)
And I remember even though it felt derp at the time
I always used to wake up sore

  115. Insomnia sucks. Thank God I’m on vacation.

Yeah, dad got like that when in the hospital. He just wanted to be home. (And his perception of reality just after the accident was…dubious at best. Recurred when he had bad infections, too.)

Breaks my heart to hear these things. I know that tale all too well.
