There’s still a lot of good warm weather left but the calendar says it’s time to do the stuff you said you were going to do “this summer”. In my own house it’s time to get the back to school clothes for the kids. One is still growing like a weed and the other is getting close to his adult height. When Paula and her boys moved in with me I started the tradition we had as kids at my house: drawing heights on the wall. We use a wall at the top of the basement stairs. About a year ago I realized the little guy was going to be taller than his older brother based on the data.
It’s blueberry harvest time in Washington County soon to be followed by the potato harvest in Aroostook County (they still get a harvest break but hardly any kids actually harvest potatoes). One of my old secretaries was from a family of potato farmers and every year used to gift me a 40# bag of potatoes (that woman looks a lot like my ex-wife who, AFAIK, never worked at a potato farm). Much to my dismay I’ve never employed anyone who was from a blueberry farming family.
Fishnet shirt? Red scarf? Mutton chops? Check, check and check!
