  1. We can keep the funneh in the comments, but I thought a little serious might be in order.

  2. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, OSO!
Today, you don’t have to share: http://is.gd/nUkHKy

  3. OSO, kick some butt today…HAPPY BIRTHDAY!

  4. Happy birthday, oso! Hope you get something cool!

  5. Well done, Jay.

Lots of images from that day; my favorite: http://is.gd/eLfmlT

  6. 9:25: The Associated Press informs CNN that the two plane crashes in the World Trade Center appeared to be an “act of terrorism” (terrorist attack).

9:26: The FAA bans takeoffs of all civilian aircraft regardless of destination—a national groundstop. All military bases in the United States are ordered to increase threat conditions to Delta status.[citation needed]

9:28: Hijackers storm the cockpit on Flight 93 and take over the flight. The entry of the hijackers is overheard by flight controllers at Cleveland.

9:29: President Bush makes his first public statements about the attacks, in front of an audience of about 200 teachers and students at the elementary school. He states that he will be going back to Washington. Today, we’ve had a national tragedy, he starts. Two airplanes… have crashed… into the World Trade Center… in an apparent terrorist attack on our country, and leads a moment of silence. No one in the President’s traveling party has any information during this time that other aircraft were hijacked or missing.[21]

9:32: A radio transmission from Flight 93 is overheard by flight controllers at Cleveland: “Ladies and gentlemen here… is the captain please sit down… Keep remaining [sic] sitting. We have a bomb on board.”

  7. mare, I’m not really following any of the regimens per se, I’m just eating very few carbs and no sugar. Lots of meat, eggs, cheeses, vegetables. If I have Tex Mex I get corn tortillas.

“If it’s white, don’t bite”. (I mean, unless I have her permission)

  8. Well done, Dave.

  9. Good job, Dave!

    White is bad. /not racist

  10. Where are you taking that from, Pups? Good stuff. The minutes seemed like hours then.

  11. We were having an executive council meeting for the school (our priest was there) a secretary came into the room, gave us the news and the meeting was adjourned. We went to the school to help organize, decision make and what not. We couldn’t find the priest anywhere. We needed him (with the principal) to make the decision about letting school out and we thought it would be good for him to be there in the halls to act calm and show a strong, confident (“everything is going to be okay,”) front to the children.

Didn’t find him until after school was let out. I think (and I’m not kidding) he was contacting his gay lover who lived near his mother’s home where the priest lived. DICK.

We eventually got his ass thrown out, showed he was stealing money from the church and threatened to expose his gayness (active) if he didn’t leave. The stupid diocese wouldn’t do anything UNTIL we threatened that. Incompetent…no. Stealing….no. Driving good teachers away…no. Another sex scandal….well, I guess we have to.

  12. I know. I’m considering setting up a timed light so they at least get 12 hour days. Have to hunt around for one.

I just plugged a light into a cheap timer.

  13. Finally! We need more, “in the know,” to shine the light on this asshole:

  14. The hubby woke me to tell me about the first tower; I was awake to see the second. We all stayed home that day fearing more; the hubby worked next to the airport then. I planted the babies in front of the Disney channel in a playpen. They never said a word or ran a ticker on that channel, and I was very grateful.

  15. Skoool tyme.

  16. I have a special shout out to those service members who joined up, almost that day, knowing that they may be needed if a war was going to break out because of the attacks. They wanted to do something.

I can’t tell you how many people I’ve heard say they joined because of September 11th.

  17. HA. I’ve been debating Romeny/Obama/ Healthcare with a friend on facedouche. The final exchange ::

Friend: Trust me – I might be under the underpass with you. Middle class families are pretty fucked right now. I just don’t think that Romney – who did such a bang up job in Massachusetts – is the guy for the job. Is Obama? I don’t know, but I think he has a better shot than Romney. And you know me – I don’t vote party lines. I vote based on (hollow) promises and what I see.
    *****
Carin – WHat is Obama going to do?

    WIth that, she’s disappeared.

  18. I was driving to school, while Peter Jennings was flipping out (for him) on the radio. It was right after the 2nd plane hit.

We spent the day in computer lab, trying to get news from CNN and discussing the ramifications of the day.

  19. Anyone know the latest “racist codewords” we’re not supposed to say?

I know since we are the “white cabal” we should all know them when they’re said but I didn’t get the white cabal memo that tells me what words to say to secretly be racist.

  20. Wiki timeline: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Timeline_for_the_day_of_the_September_11_attacks

  22. Happy birthday Oso. You gonna go out to eat tonight?

  26. The question is, how did that man manage to shove Rosetta down his pants.

  27. “I started celebrating my birthday last week.”

    I love that!!

  28. Happy birthday OSO!!!!!

  29. I think I broke the code. When Obama says he’s going to ‘pivot to the economy’ or ‘focus like a laser on jobs’ you’ll know the election is over.

He always says that when he’s getting beaten.

  30. Thanks, MJ.

  31. MJ, what are you saying? they declared the election over yesterday.

    *clutches pearls.

  32. This is fun. Obama reading from his book. Apparently one of the fake characters had an interesting vocabulary, and you can hear Obama read the good parts:

  40. School is halted for the day. Daughter wasn’t feeling well, and she thought some tv time may help.

*dares any hostage to argue with that logic.

  41. Well, I don’t have TV, and streaming is blocked. Guess I’ll have to go home.

  42. Could home “home work” like we home school?

    Problem SOLVED.

  43. My company does not believe in working from home.

  44. Bummer. Because I’m sure you would be so totally productive at home.

  45. That’s probably why they don’t believe in it.

It works for some people, I could do it. But I can definitely point out people that it would NOT work for.

  46. I’ve been working from home for 12 years and, for the most part, love it. You people are almost like my officemates.

  47. You people are almost like my officemates.

Well, their reasoning skillz aren’t exactly the best.

  55. Something just doesn’t FEEL right.

    Yeah, that’s it.

  56. I was awake and listening to 9/11 from the moment the first plane struck. For some reason – I found that odd, and I called mr car in to tell him. I don’t know why I did that – perhaps because one of my friends lived in NYC? When I called, so far it was being reported that a small plane had hit it.

I got in my car and took my 4 (at the time) kids apple picking. Was at the U.S. Canadian border when the second plane hit. Driving down the roads as they started to come down. It was all so surreal ,and I was so numb, I didn’t know what to do but to continue on driving.

It was a mess later, because I had to cross the boarder to get back to the dogs. Hours it took.

But my kids were really little – my oldest was only 6. Ethan wasn’t yet born.

I remember worrying and worrying that something horrible was going to happen and I’d never get to see my baby.

  57. My friend on facedouche still hasn’t gotten back to me on what Obama’s going to do to fix the economy.

  58. I prefer to work out of the homes of strangers.

  59. I left work as soon as I saw the story on FreeRepublic to listen to my car radio and buy gas. The gas thing is the one and only time I recall predicting mass human behavior well.

  60. What story is that, leon?

  61. When the first plane hit, FR was the only “news” site I could still load. Every other server was slashdotted.

  62. Ah, yes.

I thought you were talking about today, and something had happened.

  63. Heavens, I wrote that 4 years ago.

  70. Of course, your greatest supposed benefit is the defense you provide. But what noble defender extorts payment from its clients? How could you possibly be defending us when YOU are our greatest threat? Like the Mafia’s protection racket, our greatest danger presents itself when we refuse to pay. There is only one entity that has ever threatened me with death or imprisonment, and that is YOU. No foreign government, terrorist organization or even a criminal on the street has ever threatened my life or freedom, only you America.

  85. I remember listening to his autobiography about the school moment. It was a very painful telling of that story. You could tell he felt the enormity, after Card told him of the second plane.

Plus the audiobook was read by a guy with a southern accent, so it sounded like Dubya, too. Made it all the more real.

  86. It’s ridiculous, was he supposed to scream and run out of the room? WTH?

Libtards will never, ever let that one go. I was glad for his calm demeanor and immediate resolve.

What would it have accomplished had he gone screaming and flailing willy nilly? Nothing. Other than perhaps give the ‘tards different fodder. Whatevs. W could do no right with Those People.

  87. I agree with you, Sean. But I wish at 25 I had had half of that guy’s perspective.

He seems very sure of himself, and I’m likely being too dismissive, but one of my beefs with libertarians like that is that they don’t seem to want to live in the real world. I suspect that he’s going to be disappointed when he has to come back down to earth.

  88. Agree, Cyn.

If my child was sitting in that classroom what Bush did is exactly what I would have wanted him to do. Keep a calm demeanor, finish as quickly as possible, leave the school without creating panic.

    NO BRAINER, DUMB ASS LIBERALS!

  89. I read the post. He sounds like a Nor Luap voter.

I hope he finds what he’s looking for, he seems intelligent, thoughtful, and resourceful.

What’s the story with that dude? His treatise read a tad like the 40 page crap I skimmed through in Atlas Shrugged.

  91. Happy birthday, Oso! ♥♥♥

    Great read, Leon –

I’ll share mine, if that’s OK – this is a repeat of the one I did last year. It’s kinda long (I know, big surprise, right?), so don’t feel obligated to read it:

You just may be the sexiest woman alive.

  94. Happy Birfday, Oso.

Cyn, Axeman should date an emo girl. They’re all “cutters” and I’m sure he can find one willing to draw a little of his blood from time to time.

  95. Carin, on Mike Gallagher today, a women called in and was incoherent about Bush reading to the children. Evidently she thought he should be doing something. She sounded insane, but I wonder if this is a weird meme the liberals are adopting.

Yea, it’s making the rounds today.

Rush was wondering aloud why everyone was covering the 9/11 stuff so much – and he tied it to Obama/ bin Laden, etc. subtle foot-ball spiking.

When the reality, is that Bush fucken rocked us through 9/11- he was a source of strength, which was as a leader, and not any sort of false bravado – as if HE had directed folks to run into those buildings or any bullshit. He amplified what our heroes had done on that day. That speech – I still can’t listen to it w/o getting tears in my eyes.

  96. Cyn, Axeman should date an emo girl. They’re all “cutters” and I’m sure he can find one willing to draw a little of his blood from time to time.

If he goes this route, inform him that such relationships have a short shelf life. At 2 months, he should be out or within days of getting out.

  97. You just may be the sexiest woman alive.

    rawr.

I enjoyed the book, but if you got to that point of the book and didn’t know just about everything in the John Galt radio address … than you’re simply just dense.

  98. That whole Arab Spring deal makes me want to puke. WTF thought that would turn out well? No me, not from day one.

  99. Whatevs. W could do no right with Those People.

The same people who bitched about that later wailed and gnashed their teeth about what a “cowboy” he was. And now it’s like, “Drone strikes? FUCK YEAH!!!”

They wouldn’t recognize a principled stance if it bit them in the ass.

  100. HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA…Does he think we’re frickin’ tools?

    http://tinyurl.com/9gqf4tm

  101. >> a women called in and was incoherent about Bush reading to the children. Evidently she thought he should be doing something.

That’s not new, that criticism has been thrown at Bush for almost eleven years. And yeah, they sound insane, because it’s a random complaint driven by hatred of Bush. The formula is something like this:

    1. I fucking hate that redneck idiotic asshole Texan George Bush

    2. Therefore I fucking hate everything he does, including how he kept calmly reading a book to children when he was told about the developing situation. I also hate his smirk, the sound of his voice, and the way he scratches his balls. (in fact I really hate that ball scratching thing)

It’s silly, but it’s also a waste of time to pay any attention to it. People who are that emotionally invested in criticism aren’t level-headed about it, nor are they objective. Their opinions are worthless, because of their hatred, EVERY fucking thing (the person they hate) does or says is wrong, stupid, pick your pejorative.

Liberals are the only ones guilty of this. I know some people who treat Michelle Obama the same way. I don’t mind criticism if it’s objective, but if it’s driven by the same emotional vapors then I dismiss it.

  102. Politics has truly made me a Tourette’s sufferer. And not just the facial ticks….the out loud swearing.

  103. Cyn, Axeman should date an emo girl.

I’m gonna say ‘no’ to that, but if he finds a cute vampire-type chick, I could be good with that.

  104. Dave, I just thought it was weird they were running that tired old deal up the flagpole in various public places, like it was orchestrated.

  105. Politics has truly made me a Tourette’s sufferer. And not just the facial ticks….the out loud swearing.

    Shirlena?

  106. Sean??

  107. …like it was orchestrated.

Oh, surely not. Never in a million years, I tell you!

  108. Irrational people do irrational things, like hatin on a guy that ain’t running for President.

  109. Dave is subtle and svelte.

  110. I wonder what that caller would have thought if Obama had done the same thing (kept reading to the kids)?

As I recall, all of the kids in that classroom were grateful that Bush handled it the way that he did, instead of scaring them to pieces.

Nobody knows how they are going to react in a situation like that.

(Anybody else remember Giuliani saying that one of his first thoughts was, “Thank God George Bush is the president”?)

  111. I cringed a little when Leon said (in his 9-11 essay), ” I remember feeling really united with my fellow Americans for the first time in my life. ”

Leon is pretty young, but I feel connected all the time. Olympics, voting, natural disasters and other than when I’m told I’m a Tea Partier, radical, crazy right wing, asshole, I pretty much feel connected.

When Michelle Obama says, “I’m proud of my Country for the first time in my life, ” for me, she sealed her fate. A woman who through affirmative action had everything handed to her (undeservedly so), growing up middle class, getting cushy $300,000 no-show jobs, using OUR money to jet set around with her kids…..I have no sympathy for anything anyone says about her.

  112. And now it’s like, “Drone strikes? FUCK YEAH!!!”

    AMERICA!

  113. Exactly Dave, it’s been almost 4 years and they keep harping on George W Bush. Let it go lefties, let it go. If Obama is so great, talk about him and his handling of everything.

  114. And Michelle has used her position as First Lady to change policy. That makes her a political target.

    Laura Bush, not so much.

  115. Hotair has a piece where Mitt is lagging by 7 points in New Jersey. Obama won NJ by 15 points in NJ. If these numbers are correct and comparable, Obama is down by 8 in NJ. If these numbers are applied to all the states that were lost by under 8 points, Mitt wins. I just downloaded Drew’s app and it is good. But for professional analysis, the 270towin app is better.

  116. The kids in that classroom where Bush was reading? Yeah, they can vote now.

  117. Mare, I have always been a patriot, that’s not what I meant. 9-11 was the first time I felt like maybe I wasn’t the only patriot.

  118. Drudge has a listing of the polls that were most accurate in 2008.

Does anyone know if polls from 1980 and 1984 have been analyzed for accuracy?

  119. I cringed a little when Leon said (in his 9-11 essay), ” I remember feeling really united with my fellow Americans for the first time in my life. ”

I’ve always been patriotic, but I know the feeling that Leon had, and I had that too. It was an even deeper connection to my fellow citizens than I’d had before. If that makes any sense.

*waves a flag at Mare and hands her a highball glass of anti-Tourettes liquid*

  120. Eh, I don’t think it was orchestrated. Emotional idiot spouts off about My Pet Goat and everyone else piles on, and hits another blog and says the same thing.

    It’s just a meme.

    We do it do.

Of course, we’re not batshit crazy.

Bear crazy, sure, in Oso’s case.

    But not batshit crazy.

  121. I’m not suggesting Michelle deserves sympathy. I’m saying some criticism of her is as pointless and inane as some criticisms of GWB, for exactly the same reason, it is driven by over the top ever lovin spit-flyin hate. So I ignore it.

Not every thing she says or does is hateful or wrong.

    Example:

Valid criticism of GWB: He did a lousy sales job on Harriet Miers for SCOTUS, and when conservatives pushed back and wanted vetting, he dug in his heels instead of making the case, just kept insisting she’d be a great Justice.

Non-valid criticism of GWB: The book-reading thing.

  122. Being a Conservative can be lonely in certain places. I’ve been there.

  123. HB Osolocoface!!!!!

  124. Ha ha ha! Newsweek was dead last. Even Fox was pretty poor. In Rassmussen we trust.

  125. I wonder if Harriet Miers would have been constitutionally better than John Roberts.

Seriously, just wondering now that the votes have been cast. She was an awful candidate but what if she had voted differently than John, “I can’t fix your political mistakes for you” Roberts.

  126. Dave, I sometimes wonder though, if Harriet Myers would have voted againstupholding Obamacare.

  127. Mare, thou shalt not steal my points.

  128. Miers would have voted with Scalia and Thomas, but Kennedy might have defected in that case, so the result might be the same.

  129. Tushar, he’s down about 15 here.

  130. Remember the night/day before we invaded Iraq (the first Gulf War), everyone was scared and watching CNN like addicts wondering how badly things could turn out? That was pretty connecting.

  131. Correction Mare, the list shows which polls were accurate in November.

  132. I wonder what that caller would have thought if Obama had done the same thing (kept reading to the kids)?

Blah blah blah, quite strength, etc.

This stuff pretty much writes itself.

  133. Scott, exactly, all Mittster has to do is win back what we narrowly lost. He does not need the 271st electoral vote. Anything above 270 is just salt in liberal’s wounds. Seriously, anyone with iPad, get the 270towin app. Rest, go to the website and play around.

  134. Oh, good point Scott.

    Closest poll to actual election?

  135. Most of them are full of crap now because nobody will remember.

A couple weeks out there will be “shift in public opinion”.

  136. Rush said that one week before elections Pollsters try to resurrect their reputations and start getting it closer to right.

  137. Fox this morning reported on one poll that had Obama up by 4-5 points.
    The sample group was something like 440 (d) 400 (r) and 15 (i).

If you adjust the sample to reflect reality it’s Romney up by 8 53-45.

  138. >> I wonder if Harriet Miers would have been constitutionally better than John Roberts.

Yeah, what a disappointment that turned out to be. The Supreme Court wanted to punt this one, make Congress deal with its mess. Kennedy woulda flipped.

But our gripe about Harriet wasn’t whether she’d be good, it was nobody knew shit about her. It smacked of cronyism. Bush just kept insisting we trust him. This in the wake of his amnesty for illegals bullshit. We weren’t in the mood.

  139. Go here:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/United_States_presidential_election,_2008#Result

Scroll down a bit to get to results by state. Last but one column shows Obama’s lead over McCain in that state by precent. Sort by that column. Then look at all states that McCain lost by less than 8-9 points, and add that to Romney’s column. Romney wins.

  140. I really think that Romney is going to win this big.

The alternative is simply too horrible to contemplate.

  141. Dave, the Bush brothers do have a point though. If we lose the Hispanic votes the same way we lost black vote, winning elections will become increasingly difficult. Principles matter, yes. But sometimes you have to think about winning too. Loser’s principles are not worth a dime.

  142. I dunno, you guys. Polls are super serious.

  143. Well, that’s pathetic, Sean.

  144. If I am sick, I want Obama to take care of me. Romney is suitable for more serious tasks, like running the country.

Here, bammy, clean my bed pan.

  145. They’d better start letting the Democrat voters down easy now, or there is going to be a horrific wailing and gnashing of teeth when the inevitable happens.

More so than normal, I mean.

And just wait until next January, when the media starts releasing the REAL unemployment numbers just as Romney is sworn in.

‘Cuz overnight, they are all going to swear that those numbers jumped, and the country went to hell in a handbasket because we refused to re-elect the Lightworker……

  146. >> If we lose the Hispanic votes the same way we lost black vote

False choice. Substiture “poor” for Hispanic or black. We’ll almost always lose that one.

  147. Dave, are you saying hispanics and blacks who are financially doing well vote heavily, or even moderately republican? If that is the case, we need to do a better job of convincing poorer blacks/hispanics that enterprise, not dependence is the way to prosperity.

But I have a feeling that blacks can become very rich and will still vote for dems. Condi, Sowell and Allen West are aberrations. I am more optimistic about Hispanics.

  148. Anyone else feeling like stabbing some motherfuckers today?

  149. Principles matter, yes. But sometimes you have to think about winning too. Loser’s principles are not worth a dime.

    http://bible.cc/matthew/16-26.htm

(I actually remember that verse being referenced in A Man for All Seasons. With “But for Wales, Richard?” or something like that.)

  150. Sean, I don’t have a soul.
    **colors my hair ginger**

  151. But I have a feeling that blacks can become very rich and will still vote for dems.

I sort of wonder about my boss. He’s loaded, but I think he voted Obama last time.

  152. Tushar, I am a so-called Hispanic, and financially stable (as far as that goes, looking at the economy). Most Hispanics I know in the same economic rung tend to vote Republican. That all being said, I know plenty that are yellow dog dems, and I have seen around here some the lower economic rung Hispanics leaning towards Romney, even.

    It’s a crap shoot.

  153. Aggie, that gives me hope.

Those with military background can throw some light on this: do blacks who have served lean more republican than general black population? If yes, which one is the cause and which one is the effect? Same question for Hispanics as well.

  154. You might be wondering why I have suddenly become so race sensitive. We are supposed to look at the content of characters. Color of skin is best left to dems. But I still am interested in studying the electorate through all dimensions. A scientific and statistical approach is always good for research.

  155. Hm…good question. It has been my experience in the FRG that enlisted grades favor liberalism while officer grades favor conservatism. As to the question, more Hispanics in the military lean conservative than non-military. In my experience, Blacks don’t lean conservative much regardless of rank. Keep in mind this is from a military wife’s perspective, and from the point of view of a virtual outsider, since I am not active duty :)

  156. Most of the ANG guys/gals I know lean right, regardless of grade, but they are almost all white folks like me.

  157. Happy Birthday Oso!!!!!

  158. Ummm…..white folks kilt it?

  164. >> are you saying hispanics and blacks who are financially doing well vote heavily, or even moderately republican?

Yes, but another way of putting that is people generally vote self-interest. Or yet another way is “people vote with their pocketbooks.” That demograph has been pretty consistent in American politics.

Of course there are anomalies, such as Obama and Bush-fatigue that can tip the scales. But the plural of anecdote isn’t data.

  165. Shot a 77 today. Weather was wonderful. . . I love late, late summer!

  167. Dave, I sincerely doubt people have enough brain to vote their pocketbook. I know so many people, total family income upwards of $200k, highly educated, who are liberal as the day is long. They would vote for dems even if dems ask them to contribute their wives and daughters as sex slaves, for the common good. What is common among all of them is the burning hatred of anyone who makes more money than them.

  173. You’re using anecdotes Tushar. There are plenty of demographic breakdowns on elections going back decades that show the pocketbook trend, that expression didn’t invent itself.

It doesn’t matter if you personally know rich liberals. You also happen to live where they concentrate.

  174. Rich liberals are not an aberration. They are often Godsless, and don’t do much personally in means of charity. Voting democrat makes up for all that. It makes them “good people.”. Absolves them of the sin of being wealthy and not really giving a shit.

  175. Dave, anecdotes roll up into data. How many dozen cases do I have to see before I can call it a trend? My take is: the super rich (1% types) go by whatever pops in their head. They can afford to. Next come the wannabe rich. The 1-6%. The HENRYs. High earner but not rich yet. Here we have two types: those who have earned it by hard work are republicans. Those who got lucky breaks and were handed things simply because they had the right credentials tend to be liberals. The comes the vast sea of republican dominated middle class. And then comes the vast sea of poor people. Of course there are exception at every stage. But don’t be under an impression that high earners are automatically republicans.

  176. One of my coworkers is not simply atheist. He is militantly anti-religion. If he had the power, he would banish religious people from this planet. High earner. Metrosexual. Liberal.

  177. Sorry, the plural of anecdote isn’t data.

Rich isn’t even a useful demographic, there aren’t enough of them to swing an election.

  178. Oh, forgot to mention. Hates blacks.

  179. But to answer your question, 130 million people voted in the 2008 presidential election. So you need to know more than a dozen rich people. If you’re not going to use sampling, I would say something like 100,000. Give or take a 1000.

  180. Oh, forgot to mention. Hates blacks.

Lemme guess – he thinks that Republicans are the RAAAAACISTs, right? :P

  181. Dave, strange but true: the top 5% make up about ….. Lets see ….. 5% of US population. They vote, and they contribute money. You don’t see then in Texas outside of Austin. Doesn’t mean they don’t exist.

  182. Teresa, how DID you know that? Are you a mind reader or something?

  183. You can use a very small sample of anecdotal data to poll the electorate. It’s just that your margin of error will be VERY large.

  184. New York is filled with rich liberals. As is Birmingham and Rochester Hills here in Michigan.

  185. Dave, are you saying that 100% of people above a certain income vote GOP and 100% of people below a certain income vote Dem? If you are not saying that, exactly where do we differ?

I have lived in MD and NJ for a total of 12 years. I have easily met hundreds and hundreds of people whose political views I was able to make some intelligent guess about. Met one Mormon in DC and an Armenian in NY who are republicans. Everybody else was a democrat. May be I have something about me that attracts liberals and repels conservatives, but how exactly do I conclude that people who make more money always always always vote republican? Husband wife both liberal arts professors at Princeton, together making $300K. Dyed in the wool republicans according to you.

  186. Oh, let me ask you this: newyorkers vote for dems. Mississipians vote for gop. Are you saying newyorkers are poorer than Mississipians?

  187. Teresa, how DID you know that? Are you a mind reader or something?

    I have a gift, brown man….. :P

  188. Grosse pointe even went for Obama.

  189. I do not think political ideology is strictly tied to economic circumstances in America.

  190. Car in, Birmingham, Rochester Hill and Grosse Pointe must be teeming with poor people. Because according to Dave, it in unpossible for rich people to vote democrat. If you see BMWs and Mercedeses there, they must be stolen goods.

  191. We are up to our eyeballs in wealthy Democrats around here.

  192. Tushar – I’m not sure that is what Dave was saying. Although I’ve heard for years the axiom, I’ve never seen it universally in the people I know.

  193. I have a simpler explanation: people who have to earn their livelihood by being productive vote for GOP. People who live by divvying up someone else’s production vote dem. also, people whose output can be easily measured vote republicans. People whose output is difficult to measure vote dem. lawyers, professors, govt employees, welfare recipients vote dem. doctors, business owners, people who work in private sector vote gop.

  194. Scott, stop lying. There are no rich liberals.

  195. Rich liberals are the kids that got into the tree house first and had an instinctive urge to pull the rope ladder up behind them.

Rich conservatives are the ones that built their own ladders.

  196. You don’t meet conservatives because you’re brown, Tushar.

    Scary, brown.

  197. There is another explanation. People who innately trust authority figures and institutions vote democrats. They trust that the Govt is doing the right thing and the media is giving them the straight facts. People who are not easily cowed by authority look around, distrust the conventional wisdom, stumbles across some blogsand some books that are taboo, learn to find facts and form opinions on their own, and become republicans. Matrix movie had it exactly right. Blue pill and red pill. They even nailed the colors.

  198. Ha ha, XBrad, that is why I hate it when I miss meatups. I love scaring youse folks.

  199. There are a lot more republicans around than you think Tushar. It’s like a secret society around here.

  200. Why do you think I am drawn to you clowns? I don’t see any conservatives in real life.

  201. Re. “People vote with their pocketbook……”

I find there are two major types of Democrats: the utopian type who think government will take care of everything, and the pocketbook type (aka, the give me some money type.) These are either the beneficiaries of food stamps/welfare/social programs, or the guys who’ll pay off their crooked buddies to get $$ from gov’t. contracts/sweetheart deals (think unions).

  202. Scott, I am aware of that. In the north-east, conservatives have to live in the shadows. It is easier to come out as a murderer or a rapist here.

  203. One additional note: I was driving across, NM and got a Navajo radio station. There was an ad for the congressional race (democrat of course) It said, and I quote, “Vote for ????, he’ll give you more money!”

  204. http://www.virped.org/ bookmarked on your computer will get you sympathy in Ann Arbor. http://www.gop.com/ will get you pilloried.

  205. Tushar – Why do you think I migrated to Hickville, PA?

  206. “Limousine Liberals”, aka Communist wannabes.

They profess to love all of the “socially just” programs, but lack the common sense to realize that they will be the first ones purged when Stalin/The Muslim Brotherhood/The Empire/etc.. make their move to take over.

After all, didn’t the Socialists invite the Communists to the party in Eastern Europe? We all know how well THAT turned out for all of the appeasers in the end.

But liberals never learn from history – they are always too busy re-writing it…..

  228. >> Dave, are you saying that 100% of people above a certain income vote GOP and 100% of people below a certain income vote Dem?

    No. I am not stupid.

Anecdotes. Are. Not. Data. People. Vote. Self. Interest. Predominantly. Look it up, there is a wealth of post-election demographic study that supports that.

The closest parallel on a presidential election level I can draw for you is the 1980 Presidential election. Which at this time, right now, Carter had a 4 point lead in the 3 major polls including Gallup.

Alls I’m sayin is people within a certain income level, let’s say today’s numbers, 60k to 200k, will swing very hard for Mitt.

On the other topic of the day, it made sense to buy off Mubarek (and his predecessors, including Sadat. American self-interest.

There is no reason now, except Obama is anti-American interests.

  229. >> I’ve never seen it universally in the people I know.

  337. Is it my turn to totally understand
To watch you derp out of my life and not do a damn thing

  338. Sean, is the recovery holding strong?

I always send pos vibes and prayers your way whenever you post.

  339. I took my one year cake a couple of weeks ago, phat. And thanks for your prayers and vibes.

  340. Sean,

    I know it’s a hard road.

I look at that hard road and know that some day I’m going to have to walk it.

Most of the guys I fly with are functional Alcoholics. I know I am.

Off to bed, but I’ll email you tomorrow.

  341. Is it weird that my brothers ex wife follows me on twitter?

I never really knew her and have had maybe 2 convo’s with her. Seems stalky.

  342. I’ll be looking for your email. And checking out Drudge. Sleep well, my friend.

  343. Anyone else thinking we’re headed for WWIII?
    ——————————
Considering they tend to kill each other in very large numbers, I doubt they’ll find common cause.

I still think the psyops idea is perfect.

    Dear Mohammud,

The guy next to you lets his wives go outside without their heads covered. It is your duty to kill him.

    Love,

    Mohammud from down the street

  344. October surprise is closing Gitmo.

  345. I don’t know WTF is going on, but I’m seeing more Obama ads than Romney ads.

They’re BS, but they are probably effective.

  346. MEDISCARE!

  347. “Love,

    Mohammud from down the street”

    hahahahAA!

  348. Just finished reading “No Easy Day”, it was a fast read. Nothing too revealing in it. Really hard to see why their (Obamedia) panties were in a knot about it. There were more “leaks” to the media than in the book. Anyone who has paid attention for the last say, 11 years, knows all about this. That, combined with reading a few Tom Clancy novels, would bring you right up to speed.

  349. I don’t know whose ass w/the dayglo hand stuck between its cheeks was in Tushar’s link, but whoever she was has FABULOUS legs!

You know “she” was hiding her johnson, right?

  350. Today we will hear a lot about the religion of peace. Christians, you want Christianity to be called a religion of peace? Slitting some throats will do it.

  351. good morning good morning…..sings away to get ready

  352. Tushar, according to the left, we’re violent extremists that regularly engage in acts of terrorism.

    See: OK City Bombing.

BTW, Just got off shift and all I can say is to check Drudge in the AM. More to follow.

    Shit may be getting Real.

OBAMA IS SENDING THE MILITARY TO TAKE OVER ARIZONA!!!!!

    RUN CYN RUN!!!!!

  354. US Ambassador to Libya killed in attack.

    Oh shit.

  355. Read what Sarah Palin has to say. The last line is awesome.
    http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin/posts/10151169787338588

  356. RIP Chris Stevens. I hope your family finds comfort and solace.

  357. Yep MJ. Time for Obama to wear his lightbringer costume and set things right.

  358. PRESENT!

  359. http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/12/us-libya-usa-attack-idUSBRE88B0EI20120912

What a bunch of assholes. All over a film (they say).

  360. I’m not a big Palin fan, but she’s absolutely correct, Tushar.

  361. Pretty good piece from Sarah, Tushar. I would imagine that will get under his skin, and we’ll see a dig from Carney or Axelrod this morning.

  362. Dear Jay,

No doubt you’ve heard that our Ambassadors are being killed in foreign lands, far from their families and loved ones.

Jay, we need your help. Please consider donating $3 to Obama for America to ensure that in a second term we continue the promise of Medicare, hold Wall St accountable, and pay down the Republican national debt in a fair and balanced way.

Our thoughts and prayers are with the guy that worked in Libya, and we know he’d appreciate your generous contribution.

    Signed,

    David Plouffe

  363. I’m not a big Palin fan

    Oh, it’s on, again!

  364. *does without McDonalds at lunch, sends money to Obama.

    Like every day.

  365. Obama praised the work of Stevens, saying he was “a courageous and exemplary representative of the United States.”

“Throughout the Libyan revolution, he selflessly served our country and the Libyan people at our mission in Benghazi,” Obama said. “As Ambassador in Tripoli, he has supported Libya’s transition to democracy. His legacy will endure wherever human beings reach for liberty and justice. I am profoundly grateful for his service to my administration, and deeply saddened by this loss.”

“While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others, we must all unequivocally oppose the kind of senseless violence that took the lives of these public servants,” he said.

    WTF?

  366. President Clusterfuck.

  367. >> While the United States rejects efforts to denigrate the religious beliefs of others

    Except, you know, Christians.

  368. Oh, and Jews too.

But, hey, up-twinkles for the Religion of the Perpetually Offended.

  369. Thanks for that Palin item, Tushar! That was really good.

It’s so awesome that President Prissypants has restored respect for Americans around the globe.

  370. Holy shit

  371. I don’t know WTF is going on, but I’m seeing more Obama ads than Romney ads.

Let’s hope he’s spending all the $$ so he runs out in three weeks.

HHD is up if’n you want to shuffle over there.
