(26 September 2009, Belgium) The city of Dinant is the backdrop for this rare Double Darwin Award. Two bankrobbers attempting to make a sizeable withdrawal from an ATM died when they overestimated the quantity of dynamite needed for the explosion. The blast demolished the building the bank was housed in. Nobody else was in the building at the time of the attack.
Robber One was rushed to the hospital with severe head trauma; he died shortly after arrival. Investigators initially assumed that his accomplice had managed a getaway, but the second bungler’s body was excavated from the debris twelve hours later. Would-be Robbers One and Two weren’t exactly impoverished–their getaway car was a BMW.

iRobot did get totally cleaned this morning!
When we built this house, we had a large shower installed and Vladimer, the tile-guy from the Ukraine, did an excellent job; Six feet long, with a bench at one end, two shower-heads with individual temp-controls. We both get our preferred water-temp, and plenty of room to scrub each-other! Hygene is great!

She’s totally having to drive to Seattle for four days this week. Makes for 12 hour days from Mon_Thurs. Sucks bad.

Can’t stay long. We went to see Inception today – most excellent movie. Despite Leonardo DiCaprio’s wacky views on things, he has grown into one of the finest actors of his generation. I enjoy most of the movies that he has made in the past few years.
And here’s a tasty little lagniappe for all of you – the song that they played to “wake” everyone up was sung by Edith Piaf. The actress who played DiCaprio’s wife won the Academy Award for Best Actress last year for her portrayal of Edith Piaf. (I don’t know if they used Piaf’s voice or Cotillard’s voice in Inception, though).
Just thought I’d share that with ya’ll – cuz I’m a giver like that. I even used one of them big $10 words that you’ll never use in polite conversation……

When we moved here we went into a 100 year-old house. We talked to a contractor friend about “Fixing” it and he told us that, for the money, we could build a new house that exactly fit our needs! We went to the local lumber store and bought materials, our friends from the sky-diver community jumped-in(literally), and we built our own house with the help of jumpers, pilots and mechanics. It’s only about 1600 square feet, but there are only the two of us. We built it, painted it, and live in it. We slanted it so that the “East Wall” is pointed at Mt Rainier.
We gave the ‘old house’ to folks that needed one. They are happy. We are happy for them!

Every once in a while, I have to use the big guns. I was my HS Valedictorian, and studied Civl Engineering in college, but the past 22 years, I’ve been a stay-at-home mom. It’s kinda hard to impress young kids with your knowledge of concrete tolerances and thermodynamic equations.

Catman, I went to Mr. RFH’s family reunion, held at the farm where his sister (the one that died of pancreatic cancer) lived. Lots of brother-in-law’s family there, too, and they are good people. BIL’s mom spoiled my daughter every chance she got.
