    My dogs only (occasionally) wake me up in the middle of the night. Never in the morning.

    Stayed home today. Just did a Bing search for pics of Jane Wyman, clicked to enlarge one, and the home computer exploded with that fucking virus that says it is 78,000 anti-virus scans and alerts.

    GAAAHHH.

    How does one start up a computer in safe mode?

    As soon as you turn on the computer, start hitting F12, I believe, and you’ll get a menu with safe mode as an option.

    If you get a keyboard error, do it again, but tap the F8 a little bit later.

    Then select Safe Mode.

    That works for WIndows 7, Vista and XP.

    Then staple a chicken to your head, stand on one foot, and punch yourself in the testicles. Do it really hard or it won’t work and you’ll have to start all over.

    Mare, I’m in Irvine today. I’ll head for the desert tomorrow.

    No great tales of the reunion. Saw some folks I hadn’t seen in a quarter century. Some had changed. Many were just the same.

    One of the girls I had a crush on when I was in Jr. High was there. She was actually glad to see me. I guess the restraining order expired.

    I headed this problem off from day one with a new cat. She didn’t get fed until at least an hour after I got up. She was pretty much fooled into not associating waking me with getting fed instantly.

    Scott, do you wear a back brace? We have moved a number of times over the years, and I have noticed that the movers now all seem to wear back braces. Makes sense to me. That is a pretty brutal job, and back muscles are a rather intricate mechanism.

    By the way, if you have Windows Vista or later, after you start in Safe Mode and run a virus scan, you can go to Control Panel/Administrative Tools/Reliability and Performance Monitor/Reliability Monitor. It’s a great tool to help you figure out what the heck is going on with your pooter. There might be something similar in XP, but I don’t really know that for sure.
