    I really feel like out country is spinning out of control. When I read books about what events took place leading up to WWI and WWII it seems eerily familiar to what we are experiencing now.

    I took the boat out last weekend (it has been sitting for a while) after a new battery (I have 3) New lights for the trailer (saltwater is hell on trailers) 120 gallons of gas (Ouch!)
    I went out.

    I chummed up some greenbacks and threw the cast net, turned on the baitwell…….

    I need a new baitwell pump.

    No live bait today! Fished with dead whitebait did not catch anything.

    I only run the A/C when temps are above 95. I last ran the heater in. . . April? Probably March. I’m a cheapskate and gas is expensive.

    Electric in Idaho is pretty cheap, but I’d rather pay $30/month than $80.

    Electric here is cheap because of all the hydro. Gasoline and natural gas are expensive because there are only a tiny handful of pipelines supplying demand.

    It really honks me off because a governor and state legislature with a lick of sense would be making deals with companies in Wyoming instead of piping it all in from Washington seaports. In the summer, when all I’m using is the water heater, my gas bill approaches $60.

    A farmer stopped by the local mechanic shop to have his truck fixed. They couldn’t do it while he waited, so he said he didn’t live far and would just walk home.

    On the way home he stopped at the hardware store and bought a bucket and a gallon of paint. He then stopped by the feed store and picked up a couple of chickens and a goose. However, struggling outside the store, he now had a problem – how to carry all his purchases home.

    While he was scratching his head he was approached by a little old lady who told him she was lost. She asked, ‘Can you tell me how to get to 1603 Mockingbird Lane?’

    The farmer said, ‘Well, as a matter of fact, my farm is very close to that house I would walk you there but I can’t carry this lot.’

    The old lady suggested, ‘Why don’t you put the can of paint in the bucket. Carry the bucket in one hand, put a chicken under each arm and carry the goose in your other hand?’

    ‘Why thank you very much,’ he said and proceeded to walk the old girl home.

    On the way he says ‘Let’s take my short cut and go down this alley. We’ll be there in no time.’

    The little old lady looked him over cautiously then said, ‘I am a lonely widow without a husband to defend me. How do I know that when we get in the alley you won’t hold me up against the wall, pull up my skirt, and have your way with me?’

    The farmer said, ‘Holy smokes, lady! I’m carrying a bucket, a gallon of paint, two chickens, and a goose. How in the world could I possibly hold you up against the wall and do that?’

    The old lady replied, ‘Set the goose down, cover him with the bucket, put the paint on top of the bucket, and I’ll hold the chickens.’

    Yeah, I agree, I suppose. In truth, The Hostages is blessed with a number of very funny denizens, and an environment that pushes their humor to the limit (though sometimes that’s a mixed blessing). IB is just coming out of the doldrums – 6 months ago everybody was too busy and stressed out to comment much there.

    I wish I could remember the microbrewery in San Diego that had the taste test set-up. I got to pick six 2-ounce shots of what they offered, and they were all good.

    If you do go back to Reno, Great Basin has good pub food, too. I recommend the shepherd’s pie. The other place to try is Louis’ Basque Corner. It’s a little hole-in-the-wall restaurant that serves family style, and the food is awesome.
